My thoughts on the Lakers picking Andrew Bynum etc.
R-Tistic:
Personally....it seems like many fans have different opinions on us picking them. I am the type of fan that looks at it like...I haven't really kept up with many of the players in the draft, but these people in the high offices usually have a better vision than most fans, and even though they definitely hit and miss a lot of times, I'd trust their judgement more than most others. If we had been around in 1985 and at this age on the internet, I am VERY sure that there were probably Bulls fans who were pissed that they couldn't get Sam Bowie over Jordan, and probably said shit like "Damn, this Jordan cat did good in college, but he won't be a Dr. J or a Magic. I wish we coulda traded up to get Sam Bowie." I am also sure that in 1996, some people probably thought the Lakers were stupid to get rid of Vlade for "some young high school kid who isn't as good as Garnett was the year before" and taking a chance because we were trying to get Shaq. But it goes both ways...sometimes the fans will call somethin before it happens when it comes to a bust.
One thing that should be upside is that Bynum said his idol is Tim Duncan, which means he is probably a very fundamental player who should be able to keep his ego in check.
I don't know when Bynum was projected, but it definitely wasn't high like that. But I did hear about him on TV, mainly because of the controversy because he was 17 and Stern changed the age limit, and his mom was pissed.

Ive never seen him play though lol, but well, centers suck nowadays. I bet my ass that the only center with a future from this draft is this Australian dude who got picked first. All these rumors about Green and Garnett etc. made way too many expectations for Laker-Fans. Everyone who believed any of this Addicted to Beef BS will be extremely disappointed after the Off-Season.

Addicted to Beef was not the only person claiming that the Lakers were looking heavily into Gerald Green...Many sites reported the same thing, which lead me to wonder how he got picked at 18...I had no expectations for Garnett, but that would be pretty dank if the Lakers could get him, which I highly doubt...But it seems to me as if not many people have heard about this Bynum kid or have seen him play...Maybe he'll shock the world, who knows?

I don't think anyone thought Bowie was more talented than Jordan, he was simply picked because the team needed to fill the forward position...You're right though, the people in the front office do have a better vision than the fans, for the most part, but I think I'd be pretty good at recruiting players and I just don't see how averaging 22 points in high school makes you eligible to be a top 10 pick in the NBA draft...Like I said, Hopefully I'm wrong, but so far this move looks foolish to me...At least if the Lakers were going after Bynum they coulda' traded the 10th pick in a package deal for something good and picked him up later in the draft...Who knows though, only time will tell...

Plus they already had Clyde Drextler as the SG..
Just Another Sunny day in California:
Lakers could have someone better with college experience behind him. But we'll just have to wait and see what he has to offer to the lakers
