ANYONE  IN  HERE  A  2PAC  FAN???
« on: June 22, 2002, 01:12:24 PM »
I had to start this thread because of the other topic.  People gave props to 2Pac and that's cool, but I can't believe all those people didn't like, love  ;), his music.  I thought he was a very talented rapper and in my opinion, the greatest of all time.

The damn greatest rapper that ever graced the mic. He was very lyrical, listen to Makaveli, listen close and catch all the lyrical word play he did. He was spritual, listen to almost everything. He was emotional, listen to Me Against The World. Political, listen to 2Pacaylpse Now, and Strickly For My N.I.G.G.A.Z. and above all, he could battle rap and do a song about his Mom. People hating on 'Pac are basically I think youngens who didn't get to experence 'Pac when he was alive. The man alive was so much more powerful than dead, and that's saying much considering after he died his rep grew. Now a days, I think the 'Pac hating is because people ain't got time to listen to lyrics. Real hip-hop is dying, people on this board are the same. Oh well, an artist is not beats, but lyrics. 'Pac was the greatest at that. God Rest His Soul, and no reincarnation.

Come on man, it's not as simple as that. You can't just categorise a group of people as dick-riders because their opinions have changed over the years.

Pac's is a unique situation simply because of the fact that he's passed on. I have to reiterate what I said on that other thread - if Pac were still alive today I have absolutley no doubt whatsoever that he would have shook Death Row and be making music as beautiful and relevant as Me Against The World or Makaveli. If this were so it wouldn't be a case of people being "on his nuts," - he would be respected because of his artistry.

BUT, what happened happened. And as I said, to some extent the releases since his death - with the exception of Makaveli, which was already ready to go - have collected songs that Pac had decided NOT to give to his fans and attempted to remix them in a way that puts them totally out of context with the man's original vision. All that can do is weaken the legacy left by the albums released while he was here.

Imagine if no posthumous music had been released. I think if we were just left with 2Pacalypse Now through to Makaveli, you wouldn't have so many people saying they had 'grown out' of Pac. But when bullshit like Until The End of Time is hashed together and put out, can you really blame people for forgetting some of the man's legacy?

Sorry for going on, but it's just my opinion at the end of the day. Pac made a lot of timeless music, and MATW will forever be not just a classic, but a masterpiece. So may his soul rest in peace, but if they never release the next double disc, it really won't bother me. I'll just put on MATW or Strictly... and remember the man the way I think he'd probably want. Peace.

Personally, if you completely hate Pac's music, you must be one shallow motherfucker. Go to the doctor and make sure your heart is still pumping blood through your body.

RIP Pac, the G.O.A.T.

Im really, really tired of cats fronting on AEOM. AEOM is a classic, and is probably the most complete rap album ever made. Its safe to say, this album is the blueprint for the entire rap industry, and is the album EVERYONE wants to make. Nobody found a perfect balance between commerical and underground hip hop like Pac did on this album. He made an album that appealed to ALL types of hip hop fans, and he did so without losing hip hop respect. And its by far the best double cd ever, no other double cd is even close to this one. Seriously, im gonna make a thread reviewing this album, and breaking down every reason why its one of the greatest rap albums ever.

I love MATW and Makaveli [both are classic], but AEOM will always be hailed as Pac's masterpiece [even though I consider ALL 3 albums to be masterpieces, and the greatest consecutive trio of albums ever released].

Always have been and always will be a 2Pac fan. Like I said in the other thread his music has something for EVERY occasion, I love other artists too but why stray if you have everything in one place, his music was so much more than just music, it's like a soundtrack to life. I'm the type of listener that looks for meaning in music and 'Pac's was full of meaning, he spoke the truth, within one song he could make a party track and still include an important message, "How Do You Want It" for example, your average rapper cannot do that. 'Pac is the G.O.A.T to me, and i'm not being a dickrider I just believe in him and his music.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.
