I'm going to go by what I know... but I remember reading an interview with Bad Azz about the whole Chronic situation... Bad Azz seemed pretty knowledgeable of what was going on.  He said that Daz and Warren G both produced multiple tracks on the Chronic, but were never given any sort of production credits on it because Dre was trying to build up even more hype behind his name since he recently went solo.

As far as Daz... it's a mixed bag...

If you look at a record such as Dogg Food, that's a hell of a record... classic... no doubt.  You could argue that the shit was mixed by Dre but the key production credits go to Daz... forget the mixing shit.

To add to that, look at the production credits in All Eyez On Me where Daz did some of his best shit... and coming from Pac himself... he always thought Daz was one of the best beat makers out there.

Don't forget to check out This Life I Lead which is probably Daz's best solo where the production is just... on point all the way through with some of the best beats Daz has ever made, this time with Mike Dean (not Dr. Dre).

Also, the handful of tracks Daz produced on Kurupt's "Streetz Iz A Mutha" which was fire.

Daz basically started producing his own shit in 1994 when the Above the Rim soundtrack dropped, then continued on from there.

1994-2002 Daz was one of the best producers in rap in my eyes (except RAW, which I thought Daz slipped up on)

2003-Current Daz = mediocre trash though

The guy has been belting out mixtape songs every two seconds, all with mediocre beats... had an entire record come out and didn't bother producing one track but is gonna brag about all the beats he did in the past on that same record (DPGC You Know What I'm Throwin' Up prod. almost entirely by Soopafly) and then when he did produce his own record (Dogg Pound Gangsta LP) it was filled up with mediocre sounding street joints and an over abundance of R&B tracks and hip-hop ballad type shit.  The "Gangsta Crunk" album has a couple good beats on it... although it don't sound south at all... sounds more like tracks that weren't good enough to be put on "This Life I Lead" so he decided to re-name it and pass it off as a new album.

No doubt Daz has potential... but the last 2 plus years, he hasn't really done anything noteworthy.  And so you know, if it's about hit records... you can't compare Dre with his own empire featuring Eminem and 50 Cent to Daz who manufactures and ships his own copies and really doesn't throw any money into promotion.  Daz is independent and it's not even a case of being independent on a Koch Records or TVT Records... independent to the point that he has no contract really with anyone else, so every little detail is left up to his camp.  Sure, you're never going to put out a hit that way, but that don't mean your beats are wack.

Some of the best shit in rap is never a hit... so to say Dre is puttin out hits and Daz isn't (while true) is no reflection of the actual music

no, Daz is not a super producer. he used to make some dope shit 10 years ago but i havenīt heard a Daz' beat in years that have made me say "damn this shit is tight". and i never get that same vibe from a Daz beat that i get from a Dre,Timbo,Premier or even a Kanye beat.

super producer is a gay word to use, you guys are losers

Quote
Ambitionz As A Ridah
2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted
I Ain't Mad At Cha
Tha Streetz Is A Mutha
Gangsta Walk (Dead Man Walking)

Those are track that were made by Dat Nigga Daz

and what proof do you have that says he got help from Quik?
you losers are so quick to throw some bullshit out there

and isn't it funny that Daz was one of 2Pac's favorite producers to work with
most people on this forum are so stupid
this fool has never sold out, never had publicity, was taught by Dr. Dre himself to produce
has limited promotion, one the most selling independent artists, has helped Kurupt shine on so many tracks
maybe he hasn't made top-notch shit lately, but his track-record speaks for itself
so many producers have help on tracks, you wouldn't want Dr. Dre to mix your track and make it better?
gee, I wonder if he's the first to have help on a track
nobody but some fuckin lames called him a "Super Producer"
pretty much, he's a West Coast legendary producer who made beats for icons like Snoop Dogg and 2Pac
let's stop hating and agree he's a talented producer

skandalous - my fav. AEOM  track is also produced by daz, BUT believe me, i studied quik, and quik definately was SERIOUSLY invloved in this track! or mixed it
im absolutely sure about it
anyone else?

still man, you don't know, that's just how it is
if his name aint on the credits, then as far as I'm concerned he didn't have nothin to do with it

yea, right
but im sure daz is no super producer..
he didnt put out one banging beat in the last few years, and thats what counts when talking about super producers

i could rather call myself a super producer instead of daz... without even releasing my shit, but its doper then his shit - and thats for sure

Daz was big with his 2Pac productions and his so-claimed Chronic/Doggystyle productions.
His last productions were quite listenable, but he didn't open a new revolution into hip-hop or sumthin', just tight beats but nuthin' special.
So, super producer? No mothafucking way, he's quite good in what he's doing but he isn't a renovator or some shit.

Tsjaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

ok..

none of you seem to have the concept of what a producer is.

a producer is not the beat maker. He's the guy that put the music together with the vocals. The mixer and the engineer are the ones that make it sound smooth and have a quality feel for it.

So.. I think Daz is an excellent beat maker maybe an super beat maker, but i don't think he is a super producer. I have not been disappointed with any of his beats. Someone said that Daz had claimed to do most of the beats for Doggystyle and The Chronic. That could be possible considering Tha Doc did the lyrics for it.  Snoop even admitted Daz did most of the beats for Doggystyle in his verse about daz in 'tha vapors'

they are acting like whoever mixed it made the fuckin thing
just cuz Daz made a beat and Dre mixed it, they think Dre is the only reason the song is good
Daz made the fuckin beats!!!!  the mixer just tweaks it, you people are morons
just cuz Dre, just cuz Dre.....  ::) they seem to be gettin it the other way around
they talkin like Dre made the beat, Daz mixed it, and Daz sayin he named it his own
