here is my theory:

cuz he knows that he ain't gonna sell shit.  he knows his style of raps ain't what's popular now, and he doesn't want to sellout either.  maybe he thinks that he had his time in the rap game, he has said just about everything he wanted to say, and doesn't want to release an album that everyone will look at as the album he shouldn't have done.  like a lot of the old timers do these days.  rappers like spice 1 and mc eiht are prime examples.  They had a great career in the 90's and made great music, but in the 2000's their albums have been very dissapointing, and pretty much nothing new to say.  and critics like SGV and people like him, will express nothing but hate towards the rappers, and point out nothing but the lowlights of their second half of their career. so ren doesn't want to be remembered as a rapper like that.  I mean I personally think he still sounds great, but that is probably because it is so much rarer to hear him nowadays.

Whatever the case I miss MC Ren's style and flow. It disappoints me that he never made it on his own as Dre and Cube did. Everytime he dropped something though I was sure to pick it up and I'm glad I did. It's all on cassettes but it's better than nothing.
