« on: August 04, 2005, 09:13:59 PM »
"Cuz in my mind I'm a blind man doin time"

From my fav Pac song - Only God Can Judge Me

I really like that line, and it always gets me.  I'm not sure I ever have decided what I think it means, what do you guys think?

im not really sure either if i had to guess i would say he is talking about how he is stuck in the lifestyle that he is, blinded from reality and peace and basically stuck with what he was given

thats real

could also be talking about his situation with death row. like he didnt know what he was getting into, but he's in too far deep to get out

Perhaps I was blind to the facts, stabbed in the back
I couldn't trust my own homies just a bunch a dirty rats
Will I, succeed, paranoid from the weed
And hocus pocus try to focus but I can't see
And in my mind I'ma blind man doin time
Look to my future cause my past, is all behind me
Is it a crime, to fight, for what is mine?
Everybody's dyin tell me what's the use of tryin
I've been Trapped since birth, cautious, cause I'm cursed
And fantasies of my family, in a hearse
And they say it's the white man I should fear
But, it's my own kind doin all the killin here
I can't lie, ain't no love for the other side
Jealousy inside, make em wish I died
Oh my Lord, tell me what I'm livin for
Everybody's droppin got me knockin on heaven's door
And all my memories, of seein brothers bleed
And everybody grieves, but still nobody sees
Recollect your thoughts don't get caught up in the mix
Cause the media is full of dirty tricks
Only God can judge me

To me it means in his mind he feels like he's trapped by/in the system. Trapped by the Police ("I've been trapped since birth, cautious, cause I'm cursed"), trapped by his own homies who made a set up to get him shot ("Perhaps I was blind to the facts, stabbed in the back - I couldn't trust my own homies just a bunch a dirty rats"), trapped by the media ("Recollect your thoughts don't get caught up in the mix - Cause the media is full of dirty tricks"). So he's doing time cause since his birth everybody wanna kill him/send him to jail, and all his homies are dying, so he feels like he'll die too, soon. In his mind he aint free. He's trapped.

That's what it means to me. No reference to the Death Row situation, tho. He's talking about the NY shooting.. and both him and 4-Tay were fresh out from jail.

i agree wit ACB on the point of the police.
Pac mite wonder wut he has dun wrong, but he cant come to any solution; so he feels that he's jailed without a reason.

That verse was actually pretty decent lyrically speaking. It's no rakim or nas, but still I think this shows pac was not an average mc- he was above average. Of course when you combined this verse with his others from 'me against the world', 'all eyez on me', and '7 day theory'.

It meant that while he was incarcerated he was oblivious to his environment...
he often spoke about how he was only incarcerated physically not mentally...

Yeah Pac was always very insightful and wise for someone from his background, not only could he rapp about gang bangin, hoes etc he always seemed to be askin questions about how the state of the world was in... he had his own style of seeing things goin on around him, in my opinion only person that can compare to him now a days would be Nas..
