Hip-Hop Anthems
« on: June 04, 2002, 01:32:41 AM »
I wanna make a few CD's packed with pure hip-hop anthems, ya know the kind of songs that no matter how old they are (1 y/o, 5 y/o, 10 y/o whatever!) they still sounds as fresh and as dope as they day you first heard them. The kinda tracks that almost everybody knows, even if they don't necesserily like much hip-hop, they also make you reminisce. I guess you could call them 'classic' tracks, but i'll give you a few example to get the ball rolling:

Naughty By Nature - "Hip-hop Hooray"
Naughty By Nature - "O.P.P"
Luniz - "Got 5 On It"
Luniz - "Got 5 On It (remix)"
Nas - "If I Ruled The World"
Nas - "Street Dreams"
Wu-Tang - "Cream"
Wu-Tang - "Protect Ya Neck"
Sugarhill Gang - "Rappers Delight"
Dr. Dre and Snoop - "Nuthin' But A 'G' Thang"
N.W.A - "Fuck The Police"
Eric B & Rakim - "Paid In Full"
Warren G & Nate Dogg - "Regulate"
2Pac & Dr. Dre - Cali Love
2Pac - "Keep Ya Head Up"
Snoop - "Gin & Juice"
Snoop, Nate, Warren G & Kurupt - "Ain't No Fun"

You get the picture  ;D

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

Nice on to all the peeps responding. Here's a few more recent(ish) ones i've thought of:

Royce 5'9 - "Boom"
Nas - "One Mic"
Tha Eastsidaz - "G'd Up"
Warren G - "Ghetto Village"
Ludacris Ft Nate - "Area Codes"
Shade Sheist Ft Nate & Kurupt - "Where I Wanna Be"

Also, I think "Addictive" is a potential anthem.
