A Lakers insider had an interview with Latrell Sprewell's Agent and he basically said that Latrell Sprewell doesn't have to take a pay cut b/c he's still a solid player and avg 16 PPG Last season Blah blah blah...so he's not coming to L.A to paly for 2.5 mill $..he wants 5 mill $
Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak pretty much killed all of the Latrell Sprewell-to-L.A. rumors by stating that it was unlikely the Lakers would add another backcourt player to the roster. We're not sure where Spree ends up now. Re-upping with Minnesota for much less than he wanted?
Lakers are in desperate need of a good GM.

Plus I'm sure he knows he'd have a better chance of winning a championship with LA, so him coming back here for less money and no gaurantee for a ring isn't gonna happen.

Not that Minnesota is going to give him a ring either, but be real. Spree doesnt have a TON of years left...and the Lakers are in a transition stage really. If Spree wants to win, he needs to win NOW. So it would make more sense for him to go to a team thats already in a position to win either this year...or next.

He's a 4 times All-Star who averaged 18.3 ppg in his career and 19.7 in 62 Playoff games. It's not easy for a winning team to sign him for 5 millions and to put him in the bench. It's not a sure thing he can contribuite from the bench with the right attitude, you know. He's more like a starter in a good team. That's why Lakers is his top choice. But it looks like Phil doesnt even want him to start (McKie/Kobe), so.. now it's really hard for him. If he really wants 5 millions he should accept the offer from a wack team where he'll have a lot of playing time and fun.
I do agree. But look, Lakers might not be the perfect team. I see him as a 6th man in a team with a great defensive guard/small forward player who lacks on offence. A static team who doesnt have a Spree in his roster. A team like San Antonio, who sometimes have black outs in offence. A team like Detroit. One of those two teams should be perfect. Your San Antonio Spurs before they signed Finley, for example, was just perfect. Having Spree starting from the bench and replacing Bowen when you need an offensive guy is something who can make the difference. Something i think Finley will do. But coming off the bench when Kobe and Odom are your SG and SF.. i dont know. They both will play like 40 mins a game, there's no space for Spree. Only way he can contribuite is by playing PG, but i dont see him as a 6th man playing PG. He needs to be aggressive and to shoot at almost every possession. That's Spree at his best. Not a PG.
Man no matter how you say it, Watson was the guy to sign.
