Lamar Odom, Los Angeles Lakers

With two stints in L.A. and one in Miami, this guy has a relatively big name already. If he truly becomes a star this season, some might argue, he merely will catch up to his self-image. But Odom really stands to grow under coach Phil Jackson, who has shown a willingness to let him become Scottie Pippen to Kobe Bryant's Michael Jordan in a Bulls West system. That means handling the ball more and triggering the vaunted triangle offense in a move to small forward. If he works and stays healthy, Odom has every chance to succeed.

Looks like not everyone has lost faith and some true fans and believers do remain... 8)

I remember the Odom hater saying something like this as well...

I think Odom is a damn underrated player, man. He's a born leader, an All Star player imo. And now he'll prove it.

Odom could have became a leauge superstar without the help of Phil.  Basically Phil and Pippen are gonna teach him to reach his actual potential?  It seems to me that the writer still doesnt have faith in Odom but has more faith in Phil Jackson

He can be helped. He can be guided and taught to utilize his talents. Phil Jackson is the best coach ever and Scottie Pippen is maybe the best point forward ever. So with these two mentoring him, he's bound to reach his potential.

Man why have to twist my opinions to support your arguments? First of all we was talking about who's better between Odom/Brown and Artest. First fact: Brown is not even in that list. Second fact: Artest is already in the NBA superstars list. Third fact: Odom is in the "maybe one day they'll be superstars" list. So stop acting stupid trying to have a point just cause Odom made that list (lol and the author said he's in that list mostly because of Phil coaching him). Plus, i've never said Odom cant develope into a good/great player: he has all the tools. I've always said that he's soft, that his attitude on the floor is wack, that he has never carried a team over his shoulders. I judge players from what they've done on the floor. Brown is a bust, and Odom is coming from a very negative season where he disappointed me. I'll still do the Artest vs Brown/Odom move.

Nazr Mohammed, Jamaal Magloire, Kaman, Josh Childress, Josh Smith? wtf is this shit

Those are/will be some solid players, but the author needs to make it clear what he thinks a superstar is. Magloire has peaked, Nazr has VERY limited potential and anyone looks good next to TD (see Rasho), Kaman is a nice player but will never lead a team, and both Josh's are highlight reels, and one has good shot blocking abilitiy, neither will lead a team or average over 22ppg (smith might just)...

I really hope with Phill and Scottie teaching Odom that he will become a better player but i doubt it.My saying is if your a soft player from the begining you will always be soft and become a follower instead of a leader.

Odom is a huge underachiever anyways. Comin into the pro's he had a ton of potential...but he's never really lived up to it. Maybe havin Pippen there to help out will work...who knows. But i wouldnt count on it till i see it.

Odom disappointed you? I remember last season you were talking about how Odom is one of the only Lakers still holding it down and performing well...Hell, under the conditions he was in, 10 rebounds and 15 points IS well. Something is wrong with you. Why are you so happy to not see Kwame Brown on that list? I thought you were a true Laker fans...I guess I was wrong.
