Nate Dogg Arrested On Drug Charges

Rapper Nate Dogg (real name: Nathaniel Dawayne Hale) was booked last Friday into Arizona's Mohave County Jail on felony charges of possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a stolen firearm. He also was charged with misconduct involving weapons while committing a felony, according to Officer John Ortolano, a spokesman for the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The artist was released Saturday on $3,500 bail. A call to his lawyer was not immediately returned.

Nate Dogg's tour bus was stopped for going 85 mph in a 75 mph zone in Kingman, Ariz. Authorities smelled marijuana when the bus driver opened the door, Ortolano said. A search of the bus found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, an unloaded Tech-9 pistol, and a loaded Beretta .380-caliber pistol, which had been reported stolen by the Los Angeles Police Department, Ortolano said.

The rapper was sentenced last August to three years probation after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge of possessing an unmarked firearm. He also was arrested June 18, 2000, for allegedly kidnapping his girlfriend from her mother's house, holding her against her will, assaulting her, and setting a car on fire. Those charges were later dismissed.

Nate Dogg's latest Desert Storm/Elektra album, "Music & Me," debuted at No. 3 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and No. 32 on The Billboard 200.

Uh oh, weapon charges too, I thought it was only about the weed when I first heard. But since when has Nate been a rapper? Hmm, people really need to look into their facts before reporting things, just because Nate is linked through music with many rappers doesn't automatically make him a rapper, he's a singer, can't they tell the difference? Anyways I hope he comes out of this soon & ok, i'm looking forward to hearing a summer album from him!
