Theo Epstein Does Not Sign 3yr/1.5Mil Deal with the Red Sox
« on: October 31, 2005, 03:23:55 PM »
So now 4 teams are looking for GM's

Dodgers
Red Sox
Phillies
Devil Rays

I pray to God that the DOdgers get Gerry Hunsicker or even Theo Epstein (since Frank McCourt loves his Boston roots)

NO ON GILLICK!!!!

Why wouldn't you want Gillick? Look at the guy's track record:
2 World Series titles in Toronto
Actually got Baltimore into the playoffs
Help make that Seattle team that won 116

He's had success everywhere he's gone so why wouldn't you want him?

Philly is getting either Epstein or Gillick as GM. I don't see Epstein really going anywhere but Philly for some reason, but it's also rumoured that Epstein will take a break from baseball for a while cause it's so damn stressful

Gillick has done good with a huge payroll, with McCourt it will not be the highest in baseball from 90-95, and he has left each team in a complete disaster.

It seems that Tommy has a lot of say and he said  he wants Bowden or Gillick.  Come on, u know u would rather have Hunsicker or Theo than Bowden or Gillick.

Also, with the new crop of GMs out there, I dont think Gillick can compete anymore.

The teams went down hill when Gillick left them because the guys who replaced Gillick were idoits. Gord Ash in Toronto, the Gm who replaced Gillick in Baltimore still had the money but did nothing with it, & Seattle used to have the best pitching staff & pitching propescts but that went down hill after Gillick left & Seattle didn't exactly have a high payroll remember? Gillick had to trade Johnson, Griffy, & let A-Rod go & the team was better because of it. So defintely not a high pay roll in Seattle

Besides Gillick probably won't be going to LA because a lot of people who know him have said that he'll only take a job on the east coast.
