The cost of holding an election

seems we do it on the cheap over here compared to america with their last election costing $4bn, ours cost a mere £132m ($250m approx) with the main 3 parties spending a total of only £40.1m on their actual campaigns, we may have have about 5th of the population of america but it just goes to show that america pays about 4 times as much for each vote.
