Chino XL just dropped possibly the best album this year!!!

Should be ok to post here as he considers himself a westcoast artist and lives in LA.

 

But anyway Poisen Pen has dropped and lyrically its incredible and got the best story telling tracks i've ever heard from Chino.

I thought Ras Kass's Institutionalised was hot and even Canibus's mic club mix tape but Poisen Pen just shat on all of them.

I've read that Chino and Ras have done more collabs, i hope that Ras was on form on those tracks they done as chino is crazy right now.

And interestingly enough, D12 supposedly has a guest appearance, and we all know how much Chino has accused Eminem of biting his style.

In recent issues of the Source and XXL, it's now being advertised.  The release date is January 11, 2006.  I dunno if that's true (since this album was supposed to be out in 1998, then 2003 after Chino re-recorded it), but I don't ever remember seeing magazine advertisements before, and it doesn't make sense that his label would kick their marketing campaign into gear if it's not ready for release.

The title is now "Poison Pen: The Lost Tapes".  So it seems as though even this album is only semi-official.

Personally, I won't be satisfied until Chino inks himself a solid record deal (not necesarily on a major label, just a better deal than the ones he's had in his career), records a new and fully realized record with modern production, and puts that shit out with plenty of marketing behind him.  He's been in this game for over a decade now; it's about time he had something to show for it.

That was a fake with maybe 1 or 2 real poisen pen tracks on it like wordsmith but the real deal just got released.
