Mafia:

A Man of Honor: The Autobiography of Joseph Bonanno  (who vito corleone was based on in the godfather)

Bound by Honour  the  autobiography of Bill Bonanno (who michael corleone was based on in the godfather)

both excellant reads and i would highly recomend them, alot better than other mafia books i've read because these are written by truely powerful men and not just journalist picking up stories and putting them together

John Gotti : the rise and fall

if wanna read about gotti this one is ok, but is a bit all over the place at times i enjoyed reading it but no way near as much as the two mentioned above.

Donnie Brasco: My Undercover Life in the Mafia  Joseph D. Pistone

great read about the FBI angent who spent years undercover in the Bonano family, as you probably guessed its what the film Donnie Brasco was based on.

History:

Empire: How Britain Made the Modern World , Niall Ferguson
Great book about the british empire its pursuit of economic and military might, which is superbly written and a little different from your normal history books...

nice i think i'll check out all of these

cool let me know what u think, i'll be interested to hear you views, i'm sure you won't be dissappointed i couldn;t put them down, since i do most of my reading in the bath it lead to me getting some very saturated skin! i'm like you i can't read fiction but i love real life stuff, i'm reading a book on russian history at the moment but its taking forever, its not exactly a small book but i've kinda had to put it on hold with all the uni work i've got on at the mo i think i'll finish it off after i graduate in may.

btw i've heard Jerry Capeci's book titled Gotti: Rise and Fall is quite good which mite be better than the one i recomended on him, but i've not read it.

If u didn't know Jerry Capeci is probably americas foremost expert on the american mafia he has been writing a weekly column "gangland" since 1989. check out his website www.ganglandnews.com

If you're a Beatles/John Lennon fan, Lennon Revealed is a very good book also.

I'm reading A Million Little Pieces, everyone said it was so good, but I'm having a hard time liking it.  It's some crazy stuff, but the author capatalizes a lot of nouns and it drives me crazy.  It's like, "Ken and I walked from our Room to the Cafeteria and picked up a Plate".
