What L.A. Police Chief Bratton said about Snoop today

Today on the Larry Elder Show in L.A., Billy Bratton (being interviewed re: Tookie) said that Snoop will "probably be killed" by gang members soon (alluding to that shooting last year). 

Do you find this irresponsible for a police chief to say this?  Bratton has always struck me as being racist anyway.  Post your thoughts.

The Insane Crips and Rollin' 20s are still pretty big rivals aren't they?  Even after Snoop brought Goldie Loc and Tray Deee together to do Tha Eastsidaz project?  If so, I guess it makes sense that the loc's from Insane Crip card would still have it out for Snoop, especially after he didn't support Tray Deee during his trial.

Maybe Battlecat can do something?  He's still cool with Snoop, isn't he?

I wish I had a transcript or audio from the show, but unfortnately I don't.  You might want to check with KABC radio in Los Angeles and see if they archive anything, or, maybe check with Alonso Alejandro (from streetgangs.com), as he stays on top of things like this.

In my opinion, Billy sounded very much on the offensive in his statement.  I can definitely understand Billy not liking gangsta rap or the culture, he's a peace officer after all, but why the fuck make a statement like that on the radio?  Very irresponsible in times like these.

Kinda hard to believe he said that.  Anybody got the full quote or a couple sentences of what he said?  There's a difference in

"Snoop Will Probably Be Killed By Gang Members Soon"

and

"Yeah, well guys like this they go way out of their way to help somebody they feel a connection with.  Snoop has made himself into an outstanding citizen, man, I love me some Snoop dogg.  Unfortunately, when people like him make a move for peace, some members of their former affiliations don't understand the positive image he's trying to push and promote.  Snoop's such a great guy, and if he wasn't such a big star for doing something this positive he'd probably be killed by gang members soon".
