The guy who started this thread is only speaking the truth. 50 was the real reason Game got his buzz going. Of course Dre's production was the main factor that Game sold, but let's be for real.  Of course everyone on sites like this  knew about the kid, because we're die hard west coast fans. But, speaking as someone who's in NY, no one heard of Game till he started hitting the mixtapes with G-Unit. JT does not make his way over here. Ever. Dre and Aftermath don't really promote their artists until right before the album drops. Anybody who's on the Math has to fend for themselves in that regard. Whereas on G-Unit, they flood the mixtapes constantly and make sure you know all of their artists months before their albums drop. Plus, Game's appearances on Buck and Bank's albums (and his little cameos in G-Unit videos) didn't hurt either. You don't have to like 50 Cent to give credit where credit is due. I can't think of any other label in recent time that has shown the west coast as much love as G-Unit.

50 after GRODT > Average Joe Gangsta Rapper IMO...

...But there's no point in overlooking the fact that he's the only rapper on his level commercially (well, actually there aren't that many other rappers on that level with him, but anyway...) giving under-rated West Coast talents like Fredwreck and Jelly Roll.

And, whoever said X went plat with Columbia, Xzibit's last two albums have only reached gold sales domestically.

The title of this thread is probably misleading, I can see that now - since G-Unit haven't done for the West what Death Row did, and obviously it's very, VERY unlikely that they will ever achieve as much success with the West's artists. However, that was written because I do feel that they are doing significant things, both good and potentially bad, for the West Coast's music scene.

Oh, and doubletrouble - no-one's forcing you to read my post. It's only made for discussion, and if you're not interested, just go read another 2pac topic instead. Sorted.
"Shit ain't all peaches and cream, and I ain't Sara Lee, bitch!" - Lloyd Banks

"I'm Morpheus in this Hip-Hop Matrix, exposing fake shit." - Common

"With consecutive platinum hits, I up my status. Ain't no more Calvin Broadus!" - Snoop

"Look at all these conscious rappers - guess who influenced them?" - KRS One

^^^It aint about if I like 50 or not, I just dont think he's doin shit for the West Coast. He's doin shit to get money. Yea you right about X only goin gold his last 2 times out, but where was everybody sayin "Columbia is bringin Cali back!" when Restless went 3x plat? See what I'm sayin? Just because they got a West Coast rapper doin good numbers dont mean they bringin Cali back. When Cali rappers can consistently get on like rappers from ATL can get on, then the West is back. Game and Spider Loc are not gonna bring the west back.

50 is NOT bringing the west back. He is only using West coast artist for THAT FUNK and to have a secure fan base in every region. Jay-z used Ric Roc for Parking lot Pimpin' but that shit didnt help the Federation when they came out.

The last 3 replies said "bringing back the West". The thread started never said anything about "bringing it back". He just said G-Unit is doing more than the West at the moment.
