OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Derek Fisher took a pass from Baron Davis and drove through the paint for a left-handed layup with 6.2 seconds left, and the Golden State Warriors snapped a season-worst five-game losing streak with a 111-109 victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.

After Fisher's go-ahead basket, Paul Pierce dribbled the ball off his leg on the Celtics' final possession and Davis came up with the ball.

Jason Richardson scored six of his 36 points in the final 4:12, including an 18-foot fadeaway jumper with 1:34 to go. Richardson and teammate Troy Murphy gave Boston a big chance when they fought over a rebound and lost possession to the Celtics, who called timeout with 37 seconds to play.

But Mark Blount, who had 21 points and eight assists, missed a 16-footer from the top 5 seconds later to give the Warriors another opportunity. Ricky Davis had tied the game at 107 with two free throws at 1:55.

Pierce had 28 points and 12 rebounds for the sloppy Celtics, who committed 23 turnovers.

Baron Davis had 11 points, 12 assists, five steals and four rebounds. Troy Murphy added 17 points.

The Warriors (15-14), in jeopardy of falling below .500 for the first time all season, also ended a four-game home losing streak, their longest at Oakland Arena since a six-game skid from March 1-24, 2002. They had been allowing more than 110 points per game during the slide.

Golden State used a 7-0 fourth-quarter run for a 97-89 lead, making four straight free throws during the stretch, but Boston fought back.

Ricky Davis added 24 points for Boston, which lost its second straight on a five-game road trip that started with Monday's 118-111 loss at Seattle. The Celtics struggled in the third quarter this time, shooting 9-for-20 and trailing by as many as nine.

Warriors coach Mike Montgomery shuffled his lineup and started rookie Ike Diogu for the first time in place of Adonal Foyle in an effort to get the Warriors off to a better start.

Diogu, last season's Pac-10 player of the year and the ninth overall draft pick this year out of Arizona State, finished with 12 points and one rebound in 24 minutes before fouling out with 4:35 left. Blount's ensuing three-point play pulled Boston within 101-100.

Foyle said before the game he hoped the move would get him more motivated, and he showed that on the court. In the third quarter, he jumped into the passing lane to make a steal and had a breakaway dunk opportunity before being fouled -- an uncharacteristic play from the 6-foot-10 center. He finished with seven points, six rebounds and five blocks.

Both teams came out shooting well.

The Warriors made 11 of their first 13 shots, but Boston was 13-for-14 -- 92.9 percent -- before a timeout midway through the first quarter. Boston then made its next basket before Ricky Davis missed a 12-foot jumper.

Richardson swished a 3 from the top of the arc as the buzzer sounded ending the first quarter, pulling the Warriors within 38-37. Golden State shot 70 percent in the period to 72 for the Celtics.

The Warriors were outrebounded 20-8 in the first half, but Boston committed 14 turnovers that led to 18 points for Golden State on the way to a 58-57 halftime lead.

Warriors are a good team...They're soon going to be one of the elite teams in the west...Boston has disappointed this season. I think they'll step up second half of the season and make playoffs, but so far they've disappointed, despite Pierce's amazing play. They had many games they shoulda' won, but let slip...Soon they'll put up a streak though. As for the Warriors, playoffs is looking more and more probable...PeACe
