CHINO XL DID WHAT?

Underground Hip-Hop manages to stay out of these rumor pages for a variety of reasons, but we start off 2006 straight from down under. And I don’t mean Australia! I heard that Chino XL’s new album Poison Pen impressed Dr. Dre and Eminem so much that they offered the rapper a record deal. OK, that’s the part 1 of the rumor… Part 2 is the shocker. I heard that Chino actually said no to the offer and has decided to stay put. He apparently professed his loyalty to Sway and King Tech (of Wakeup Show fame), who have supported the lyrical rapper from day one. Now, apparently Chi and his lawyer did meet with Dre and Em to see if there was some business to be done. However, it never panned out. At any rate, Chino is working with Sway and Tech on a new album called Confirmation. I implore Chino and his lawyer to remember Sticky Fingaz, who also had the chance to run with Dre! And, like Chino, Sticky was/is a sick rapper! Speaking of Sticky, he’s replaced Wes Snipes as the character “Blade” in a television series! Get ya hustle on Sticky!

You're a bit late...

Quote
A few days ago we revealed details of the upcoming Chino XL release, "Poison Pen" which is due for release on January 31st 2006. Since then we have received a statement from Chino regarding the comment he made about major label offers as well as news on another album, on he regards as his next major commercial release: "Just so there is no misunderstanding, I want people to know that I never said I turned down any deals from Interscope, or any of their related parties. That information had come from someone who used to work for me. “Poison Pen” is my last foray at the underground level.

I am very happy to now be signed to Sway and Tech’s label, Bolo/Universal, and I am looking forward to my major commercial release, “Confirmation,” coming out this spring. I’m only putting out “Poison Pen” because I have fans who want to hear it. I hope that everyone has a happy holiday season."

This was on DubCNN's front page on Christmas Day.

he probably looked at how long it takes for an aftermath artist to put any music out and decided that he still wanted to actually put out albums.

LOL, he takes 5 years to release new albums anyway, so an Aftermath deal would've probably fit right into his schedule after he put out "Poison Pen".

Probably a bad move on his part. But who knows, weird shit is goin on at the Math lately. Who's to say he wouldn't become another sitting duck like Spider Loc will be.

The source alone... These gossip sites have zero credibility. Oh well.

Let's say if this is true... Chino probably realised that if he joined Aftermath or Shady, his album wouldn't be dropping anyways. I don't know what the deal is here, but I just wish more artists would be like that, instead of blindly following the hype. As if the world's ever going to be hearing from G.A.G.E again...
