I think he lacks some things you need to be considered the GOAT... sympathy for a start lol. And a sublime team with him as the leader. And court vision. Maybe also shot selection. And him being a dreadful person after a big loss doesnt help either.. after such a loss, that is.

Are you serious about starting this tread...
Do you seriously think that someone who think that Micheal Jordan isn't the GOAT deserve that we talk about him?????

Nothing against Mark Jackson but that's a ridiculous statement. I saw Kobe, Jordan, Bird and Magic play in their primes and Kobe is not as good as those guys in all around game, he just isn't and the reason why is upstairs. Kobe still makes very questionable decisions and lets his massive ego control the game too often, engaging in personal battles. Kobe is the best player in the game right now but best ever? You're talking about people like Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Elgin Baylor, people like that. That's a big claim.

If Kobe improves the mental aspect of his game, then maybe you can mention him in the same sentence as those legends. Time will tell.

Kobe is going to be top 10 all times, no doubt about it. Compared to Jordan, he will be up there too. But it's too early to call. Next year, if he blew out his knee and never plays again, we'll never know. I personally hope his called GOAT at the end of his career, and he had the chance. Jordan I think likes Kobe right now more than anybody, and Magic of course loves Kobe's game more than anybody. So time will tell.

Ridiculous statement? A ridiculous statement is that Kobe isn't mentally ready to be considered with Jordan, Bird, Magic and other greats. Kobe is still young...Jordan didn't become the player he was mentally until he was into his 30's. Remember how much criticism Jordan used to get on decision-making when he was younger? Not only that, but Kobe is by far more competitive and has a drive in him more so than anyone currently in the league...He's just on another level, and the game today is more athletic and off-the-ground, so for Kobe to be on another level and be doing what he's doing is something else. I think Kobe will DEFINITELY give Jordan a run for his money when his career is up...PeACe

To say he won't is stupid.
To say he will is stupid.
Like somebody said only time will tell.
The only thing for sure is that he'll be remembered as ONE OF THE greatests.
Let's wait and see how deep he'll go in the charts.

Who gives a fuck what Mark Jackson says.  why will he be the GOAT?  because of the season he is having this season?  i think he'll go down in history but GOAT.....don't think so.  As for the Lakers getting passed the first rebound is hard to say, but considering the Suns have a gang of injuries, the Lakers should advance.

True. But barring some really bad injury, he'll definatly be one of the greats of all time.
And lets not forget, Kobe at 27 > Jordan at 27.

kobe @ 27 > jordan @ 27, that ain't what the stats say

Jordan 82 games, 39.0 minutes per game, 34 PPG, 53% FG, 38% 3PT, 85% FT, 6.9 RPG, 6.3 APG, 2.77 SPG

Bryant 80 games, 41.0 minutes per game, 35 PPG, 45% FG, 35% 3PT, 85% FT, 5.3 RPG, 4.5 APG, 1.84 SPG

also at age 27, jordan captured his fourth consecutive NBA scoring and his second NBA steals title.
Bulls record 55-27 and they lost to the pistons in a 7 game series in the ECF. it was also phil jackson's first year with the bulls.

When will people realize that stats don't mean shit when determining greatness...It's hard to tell who was better at 27, especially when you're only looking at stats...One things for sure though, Kobe accomplished more at 27 than Jordan did. From an 81 point game to 3 championships, Kobe now EASILY has the chance to excell and be the definition of greatness in the NBA...PeACe

i agree with you that stats dont mean as much when it comes to "greatness". but it definately plays a role, as it should. kobe did have an 81 pt game and 3 rings (with dues to shaq because without him they wudnt of won, and vice versa). but the beautiful thing about jordan was that he changed the Bulls around as soon as he was drafted. jordan WAS the bulls in his first 3 years. jordan led the bulls in points, in rebounding, assists, and steals as well as rookie of the year and a starting spot in the all star game. and also brought them to the playoffs each year. and don't forget the scoring accomplishment Jordan made (not 81, but 9 consecutive 40+ points). he's had more accomplishments than the one's I have posted up (those were only the first 3 years), but you get the jist of what i'm saying.

also, b4 u start jumpin on me bcaus i think Kobe's still got some hard work to do before he could be undoubtably the greatest. i just wanna say that you think one way, and i think mine. u think kobe's got an easy chance to be the greatest, i think he still needs at least a couple more rings before he could be referred to as the greatest. becaus at the end of the day, the rings mean the most.

kobe will forever be shadowed by shaq, and shaq by kobe, unless one of em starts winning some rings. that's just how it is. nobody here is hatin on kobe, jus caus i'm not a Laker fan, doesn't mean i dont like Kobe. he's one of my favorite players to watch (along with Tmac, King James, etc.)

Well, Kobe was placed in a completely different situation, he was coming off the bench behind Eddie Jones his first couple years, and the Lakers already had a franchise player in Shaq...Playing alongside such a demanding player (Shaq) and holding your own is remarkable, and that's exactly what Kobe did at an extremely young age. It all boils down to opinion, but what you said about Jordan having 9 consecutive 40+ games, Kobe broke that record also...I get what you're saying, but like I said, it's all a matter of opinion, because Jordan and Kobe were placed in two completely different situations, so it's hard to compare in a way...PeACe
