I went to see it on the day it came out (May 17th here in Belgium) and let me put it like this: I advise people to read the book first before watching the movie, otherwise you'll come out the theatre "wtf is all the hype about?!". Also, don't go watching it with very high expectations (like I did).
The book itself is good (well, according to others it's not, but that's just a matter of taste), but the movie feels kinda watered-down. Also, some scenes are rather hard to undertand/to follow if you haven't read the book.
The acting by Hanks & Reno was on point, but I was a bit disappointed by Tautou.
As far as the score goes (by Hans Zimmer), I was disappointed as well. A lot of the music sounded a bit corny/cheesy.
I think the main reason why this movie has disappointed me (and MANY other people) is because the big bosses at Sony Pictures probably didn't allow Ron Howard to take any risks with the movie and that they told him to go for a simple approach (the camera-work is very basic too btw) and to have a score that the mainstream audience will appreciate.

Im trying to finish the book by sunday, if so then Im gonna go see it sunday night.. so far I really like the book.

fuck books

Thats real intelligent

movie sucked. i fell asleep.. literally

Never read the book. The movie wasn;t the most exciting thing and it dragged a little. The acting was terrible, even Tom Hanks. It was like a live action reading.I found it very interesting though. I might give the book a read.

fuck books
lol
i was going to go see it this week but duno if its worth it now :-\

I enjoyed the movie once i started watching it as a film and not thinking "i didnt imagine it that way". Reading the book before hand definatly made me enjoy the movie less. overall i thought it was good thouigh.

langdon was a homo in this movie and lol at him using a cell phone to find the clue instead of going to the library. books > movies. after the first 15 minutes of watching i realised the movie was going to suck for the following 2 hours. tom hanks was a shitty robert langdon.

Actually I thought that Tom Hanks did a pretty good job playing Robert Langdon's role. I can't really think of another actor who would fit Langdon's description. Clooney? Russel Crowe? Personally, I don't see them playing that character. Can't really explain it.
Ian McKellen was great though!
And yeah, they left out a whole lot of bookscenes (like the one you mentioned, Dosia) which is disappointing because they're very good, but it's understandable at the same time, 'cause otherwise the movie would've been more than 3 hours or something...
Again, I recommend reading the book...it doesn't matter if you've already seen the movie and were disappointed by it. The book's a whole lot better.

when i read the book i thought more about harisson ford

yeah i didnt like the mobile bit or when they turned up at his book signing, i dont know why they changed those two bits from what was in the book.

i think it even says in the book that he looks like harisson ford
-
When dan Brown is describing Langdon in the book, it says "sort of like Harrison Ford with a tweed jacket". Hence the comparison...
And yeah, the book-signing scene was weird, considering the bookscene was a lot better (Langdon waking up in the Ritz hotel). But I guess they would've had trouble with all the flashbacks to his speech & his hotel room back & forth...
-
Yeah, Ian Mckellan was gangsta in that movie. Best actor in the movie IMO.

If anyone takes the book as fact, then they're mentally retarded.

i just saw the movie and i think it was good.I just hope people dont start buying into all this shit and really get into it.

I liked it, i haven't read the book but i didn't have any trouble understanding it, although my girlfriend did but her english isn't great it was a pain in the arse explaining things afterwards. the only part i didn't like was near the end when they were in the church and neveu has a gun pointed at the old guy and they just let her and hanks walk because the french copper, from Leon, says its all the old man - just seemed very unrealistic to me, especially considering all hand guns are illegal in this country even tho it wasn't hers no one even questioned her.

It was a decent movie, I don't see what all the uproar is about. The Mary Magdeline stuff is ancient.. I don't believe any of the Da Vinci references, but I think there's a strong possibility that Jesus was married to Mary Magdeline. There's two things in the bible that actually point at that.
1st, when Jesus went on trial, he was 33 years old... in those days, it was considered perverted for a man his age to not be married. Since he was so hated (by some), they would have instantly brought up the fact that he wasn't married and used it against him, but yet the gospels don't say anything about that. I think that strongly points at him probably actually being married, or they would have brought up the fact that he didn't have a wife.
2nd, when Jesus was crucified, they brought him down off the cross before Sundown, because sundown started the passover... jews considered dead meat (and especially human remains) to be unclean and would not touch them on the sabbath, or during passover. They stabbed him in the side to make sure he was dead, then hauled his body down... but since it was approaching sundown, they didn't clean the body, they just wrapped it in a sheet, and placed him in a tomb. The next day was passover, and the next day was the sabbath... The night after the sabbath, of course they left the tomb alone, then bright and early the third morning, they went to the tomb to clean and bathe his dead body and give it a proper burial. When they arrived, the tomb was empty.
Why is all this important? The bible lists two women as finding the tomb open.. the two women who were going to clean Jesus's naked body were Mary, his mother, and Mary Magdeline. Why would Mary Magdeline be headed to his tomb to clean his naked body if she wasn't married to him, or a sister, or whatever?
