Rugby is the toughest, IMO.
-
are you kidding me? American football is the roughest sport there is hands down.
-
you have just exposed yourself. :baseballbat: there comin for yo ass, sooner or later.

Cant decide, Rugby and American Football are both hard as fuck!

Rugby
-
Rugby, saw a game in Scotland and that shit was crazy.

the gay ass american football players are at least twice the size and hit about 5 times as hard
-
There's not a clear winner, both sports are extremely tough. The tougher the player, the better he's off in both sports.
-
American Football because you have the phsyical part thats rough not to mention a crazy Mental part, Rugby players dont get hung out to dry like nfl receivers do either

umm, yes I have smart guy. Tell me this. If english rugby players are so fuckin tough then why don't they play american football? The could make millions of dollars. They could play for 5 years and be set for life.
here is why they don't play:
because they can't make the cut because they can't handle it. There is a reason american football players wear so much equipment, its because they hit so fucking hard, and if they didn't wear it people would be dying in games.
LMMFAO! funny ass confused foreigners. I would luv to see the toughest rugby player goes heads up with Ray Lewis.

it depends at what level you're talking about , if you're talking about the highest level of rugby vs the highest level of football.......i'm picking the NFL
true rugby is played without pads so simple logic says ....gee george that must hurt more, then they add "i've seen some crazy scottish/ english games"
like ac said earlier let ray lewis loose in a rugby league there's going to be people dying. Again there's a good reason there's so much protection. If you notice through out the years of football the padding has increased due to the increased caliber of the players. if you go back to the first football games you had players that looked like this:

then you got this now:

Rugby.......but only coz League isn't on the list.
No pads.......we play the full 80mins too!! We play offense & d! You can say rugby players can't make the cut in NFL, thas true, but NFL players wouldn't make the cut in rugby too! 2 diff. games. Gridirons kewl, but rugby's the shit, it's our national sport here, we live, breath, eat & shit the sport!
Gees, fuck the Scots & Poms.......watch a real game of rugger, watch the age groups and lower grades where cunts dun give a fuck! lol........come down to NZ! lol. Or even watch the Pacific Island teams play......Samoa, Tonga....we may not win, but we're gonna take some heads off! haha. And.............sinbinned, lol.

Again, somebody please answer my question:
If Rugby is so much a tougher sport, than why in the world would rugby players play such a physically more demanding sport than football, for less than 1/4 of the pay?
Many NFL players are in physical pain for the rest of their lives, but they make millions of dollars a year. So if rugby is such a tougher sport, they have got to be in even more pain for the rest of their lives, yet they don't make nearly that of an nfl player?
So are rugby players just god awful dumb? Please explain to me why they make such a retarded decision? Most college players in the US who can either play pro football or pro baseball choose to go with baseball because it is so less demanding on the body and their physical health will be better in the future. So explain this one to me rugby fans.

becuz they love the game of rugby. it is a completly diff sport so a rugby player may not enjoy playing football. its not always all about the money. in some countries like south africa, new zealaand, australia, england rugby is a culture and is a way of life so theres no way a rugby player would make the change and go play football. and it depends what u mean by tougher sport? cuz football is def more dangerous than rugby but i i think rugby is more tougher :loco: . there r a lot more injuries in football becuz of the style of play like in rugby its controlled tackling but in football the players use their bodies more like missilies and try to stop the other player dead in his tracks.

the hardest sport imo is Boxing hands down.As for Rugby or NFL i would say Rugby but they are not as fast or as tuff as the nfl players but they dont wear pads and that makes the difference.
-
can't comment if you haven't played both
in my opinion, either way you're gettin worked
hockey is crazy too, got a lot of respect for those guys abilities, not just in the rough aspect either
-
they don't have any padding/protection in rugby, and some of the tackles they do are hard as fuck
NFL is all sissies in padding

that's a big contradiction

-
a highlight reel from just last year
also the averages
NFL players
overall average of nfl players (kickers , running backs , ect. included): 6'1. 5" and 245 lbs
overall average for defensive players : 6'3" 290
-
Rugby players are tough indeed but how many of them are 6'2" 220lbs running a 4.40?
-
its not just the physicall side of tough its the mental side

You dun know! Money isn't big in rugby compared to football or any American sport for that matter, even in the NRL (rugby league) where they have salary caps, and caps for the whole team are prolly what a top NFL player gets in 1 season.

Imagine getting blitzed by defensive lines like the pittsberg steelers or the Chicago bears ....with no pads, troy polamalu is tight (one of my favorite players) but he's a safety.....i'd rather take a flying hit from troy in no pads than joey porter

no shit money isn't big in rugby, I thought I made that clear in my post. The question I asked is if rugby players are tougher than nfl players, then why don't they play in the nfl and make millions of dollars? are they just really dumb?
