I figured it's been a while since this had been discussed, so time for a new thread. I was watching this again last night, and every time I put it on I can't help but be struck by what a momentous venture it was. I don't think we'll ever see a tour boasting that magnitude of names and, more importantly, unity, ever again. If it does happen, only Dre could co-ordinate the whole thing.
Another thing I always think when watching this is how dope all the backstage footage was. I wish they had released a separate DVD that was made up purely of this stuff. I remember Nate at one point suggest that there was a whole lot of footage on those cameras. I doubt the tour DVD even skimmed the surface. An accompaniment would have made an incredible documentary. My fave moments:

The tour was the shit and the DVD is damn good too, however, they certainly could have made a trylogy with all the footage they shot around the country. I was hoping to see more Devin, Cube, WC, Mack Dime, Jayo, Warren G, and some others in the DVD. Oh well the shit is still heat. The mini-movie w/Snoop and Dre, the talking skull, the bitches, the weed, drank, etc. were just the tip of the iceberg.

And yup...they should've accompanied the DVD-release with a bonus disc compiling a lot of backstage footage and footage from the warm-up acts: Jayo Felony, Tha Eastsidaz, TQ, etc...

yup. i was 16, 17 when i saw this tour.
it was absolutely ridiculous. the first concert i ever been to and probably the best ever.
yeah i seriously watched this dvd like 100000 times.

Has anyone got or can rip that instrumental at the start of the video tape (not DVD menu instrumental).
It's the instrumental that plays when showing all the crowds lining up outside etc...
someone must know what im talkin about, that shit is dope.

^I know Westside Connect performed in select cities but i'm pretty sure Dub and Mack did not have solo sets.

I went when it hit my city. I actually won some tickets from my local radio station (kinda low on cash at the time) It was the best concert that I have been to. I got there kinda late and missed Warren G but I did catch the end of T.Q.' preformance. Only bad thing is Cube and Westside Connection didn't come. Oh well, I'ev seen Cube two seperate times so it's not that bad.

DVD is fuckin dope. Hadn't even heard of rap when it went down, really hope another one goes down after Detox. They should have made it a 2 dvd set and included some of the other sets eg Warren G, DPG, that would be even doper

It's the first thing you hear when the credits roll with the green smoke being blown, Dre's 2001 truck pulls in etc...

In response to the poster asking who else performed, if you watch the extras at one point you get a glimpse of the tour's set list. It's obvious there were a lot of different songs performed that didn't make the DVD. Off the top of my head, I know that "Xxplosive" and "The Shiznit" were in there. Under photos, there is also a pic of Warren G performing and you can see a bit of his stage set-up.
Around the time of the tour, they also did some sort of MTV: Behind the Scenes special. I don't remember much of it, but I remember it showed Dre or Em talking about how at the end of the show they would try and perform "Bitch Please II" together. There was then a shot of a drunken Dre fucking up his verse from that song...haha. I've searched for ages to find that special, but to no luck. :(

When was Up In Smoke? I haven't even seen the DVD, but judging from you guys it seems pretty monumental and I have a friend who went and said Snoop Dogg is like the greatest personality to witness in real life. Been listening to Hip-Hop since 2001, first album was Regulate... G-Funk Era. Ever since listening to that album, man, I was HOOKED on hip-hop.

Back in 2000. You need to go cop the DVD like yesterday, prolly the best Hip Hop concert ever and I didnt even get to go, lol. For sure it was the most successfull.
Dre and Outkast are the only people left I need to see live in concert and I can die a happy man, lol.

damn, respect for everybody who went to see that concert! I've always had silent hope they were gonna visit Holland (maybe because of the weed), but they never did. Guess Snoop supplied the whole crew with enough weed.

i was 9-10 at the time, i just remember everyone loving Next Episode and Still dre, o and Eminem of course. Hope if they do a tour for Detox its worldwide cause i'd definattely go, even if im by myself.
