Title: The Documentry Or The Doctor's Advocate?
Post by: GunMaster G-9 on July 11, 2007, 12:29:25 AM
Personally I don't like The Documentary. I only like a few songs on it. Westside Story is the only song i play the CD to hear again really. While Doctors Advocate I can listen to the whole thing. Even though it is claimed that The Documentary bought back West coast Hip Hop... I think The Doctors Advocate has a more West coast feel to it.

Definately The Doctor's Advocate. I can't really listen to anything from The Documentary anymore & yeah, The Doctor's Advocate has more of a west coast feel to it.

Yeah i wasn't to happy with the production on The Documentry. Even though Dr Dre was involved. tracks like Hate It Or Love It, How We Do, Put You On The Game I find pretty annoying now. And Even though Westside Story is my favorite track on the album, I don't like 50 on Westside Story (Id rather the Snoop version).

For me the production was good on The Documentary but what I hate about that CD is that the sounds are all over the place, it's like you got a west coast beat, then a east coast one & then a commercial one etc. As for Westside Story, I found that track pretty boring after some time. The beat is average & yeah, they should have kept Snoop on the album version. The song is about the west coast so I find it funny that 50 is on it. Although I do feel that Snoop couldl've done a better job. Also the guest features are so-so.

Its hard to compare both because they are so diffrent i think westcoast wise the doctors advocate has that west coast feel but as far as both coasts i think the documentary had a better sound both Cd's are classics but i think the doctors advocate has more of an edge then the documentary but the production on documentary was hot too

In my opinion def the doctors advocate, the beats are just as dope as documentarys if not better (I'm bias towards west coast beats)
Though I think the main thing that makes the Doctors advocate better is THE GAME, his rapping and song writing skills have jus improved outta sight in my opinon, who agrees wit me bout that?

also does anyone have a copy of westside story the version wit snoop on it? I'd love to hear that
I guess the put 50 on the final version cause they thought his name would sell more singles than snoops

The documentary by far. The advcocate had lots of good songs but Documentary had classics imo.

its the same song... just Snoop doing exactly what 50 does...

does anyone have the mix with both 50 and Snoop doing the chorus? and Daz doing a verse, i think it was from the DPG Recordz website...

I don't know...I disagree about the production on The Documentary..I thought it made the album. On Doctors Advocate Game grew lyrically but the production wasn't as on point imo. I would give The Documentary a 4.25 rating and Doctors Advocate a 4, two very solid albums though, which is more than most can say these days.

Wow....Interesting how up to this point, those that chose to post an opinion give Devil's Advocate an 8-3 (The Documentary for me) edge but the overall vote  favors The Documentary at 55% to 48 %...... Also interesting how the Documentary will outsell the Advocate 2 to 1.....Maybe that helps to explain one reason why the West struggles with sales because most WC rappers including Game with Advocate, make WC albums instead of looking at the big picture. I remember when singles from the Documentary were first released (Higher, How we Do, West Side Story) and how everyone was raving how Game and Dre were bringing the WC back....Damn.

Documentary definately, cos DA lacked replay value and that killer tune if u kno wot i mean, i.e hate it or love it/ dreams/ Like father like son. But the beats were better on the DA but the vibe of the Doc is gr8......

Both, BUT Documentary only has half the cd with crazy songs, DA has every song that is crazy!!!

I voted for Doctors Advocate due to The Documentary having more of a commercial feel to it. But like someone said the singles were better on Documentary. Both are great albums but if i was forced to choose 1 it would have to be DA.

Documentary is wayyyy better.  the only people that like DA better are westcoast dickriders that like the fact that 50 aint on it, I dont like Curtis but I can admit Documentary is way better and its not even close.

No...I own both Game's albums, as well as both of 50's albums...I got np with 50...i like 50, i was bumpin certain tracks off his albums yesterday...overall DA doesn't have as many so-so tracks that the Doc. has:

dont need your love
the documentary
runnin
no more fun and games
special
don't worry
like father like son

^all tracks i won't bump unless i am playing the WHOLE album...none are bad, but i don't love them...then agian Scream On Em is much worse than anything on the Doc, why you hate the game is so-so, and one night is nothing spectacular

So it's wrong to like west coast beats???I mean afterall, we all are on a west coast forum here, ain't we??? You always seem to call people with different opinions than you dickriders. I think you just need to cut that off & accept the fact that everyone is different & have different opinions.

da is def the better album...but some of the beats and him sounding like dre gives the album an unoriginal touch while doc was something new at that time...and his collabos with 50 were dope as hell
lately i been bumping the DOC more

I made it even, I HATED the Documentary, but TDA was a pretty damn good album. I mean let's b real, Game is kinda a shitty emcee, but there were some great tracks on Doctor's Advocate.

The Documentary. Maybe it's just because it came out first, but by the time DA came out Game was sounding played out.

DA was way over hyped.  it didnt live up to my expectations.

Documentary was a solid album, DA was average.

The Doc by far.
Has standout-tracks like Westside Story, Higher, Dreams, Hate It Or Love It, How We Do,  Put You On The Game, Start From Scratch, Where I'm From

its pretty even in voted... but alot more people like the Doc. maybe because when it came out there was a hype about G-unit etc.

DA.

It's rare that an artist these days outdoes his debut in terms of quality.

But Game pulled it off

I still play some DA from time to time, hasn't gotten old

who the fuck listens to "How We Do" these days and "Hate It Or Love It" or whatever other bullshit was on the 1st one

DA had a few gay tracks as well but Documentary is boring and way too plain except for a few

The Doctor's Advocate by far... I couldn't even get through Documentary and to this day don't think I've ever played it in full. The second album is insane, I still bump it in regular rotation... the lyrics, beats and unified feel of it leave Documentary in the dust. It was nice to see Game drop a true West Coast project.

Both had great tracks but like dude above me said the best tracks on Doc were better than the best tracks on DA,on DA i always skip Around the World,i dont think ive actually listened to it all the way through, and i felt Bang, and Hate the Game were OK, on Doc i only skip We Ain't and all the other tracks are solid
