With the trade of Shaquille O'Neal to the Phoenix Suns for forward Shawn Marion and guard Marcus Banks formalized, Miami Heat coach Pat Riley spoke of a new outlook for his team, one that will focus on complementing guard Dwyane Wade as the definitive franchise focus.
"We simply looked at the big picture, where we are today, and we need to build around Dwyane," Riley said. "And everything we do now, moving forward is about building around Dwyane,"
Riley went as far as to compare Wade and Marion to Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.
"From a standpoint of how I look at it, with Dwyane and with Shawn, it reminds me a little bit of the beginning of Jordan and Pippen," he said. "I think he's going to mesh very well with Dwyane."

He did not say that they are gonna be as good as them or that they are gonna get 6 rings. It's just a great flashy SG mixed with a really good SF who works his ass off. I can see where he's comin from. Apart from the fact that the Heat have no real center now, this can be a pretty good trade for Miami. They REALLY need to get a serviceable center, though. You can't play basketball without one.

You can't play basketball without one.
i think there might be a chance they use Haslem at center when he returns.
i was reading about a month or so back that they might go small and have Haslem as their center.

The reason they started slumping is because of who Shaq is...if he's not "motivated", he doesn't put in the work. Now, he's so far behind that it'll take much more than just motivation to get him back into playing shape... I think a miracle is the right word to use.

I won't put all the blame on Shaq but I think its obvious he didn't give a fuck about that team. The fucked up part is he was getting paid so much that Miami couldn't even afford to really woo guys that otherwise would've signed (ie: Mo Williams). They'll be alright tho. They got rid of him in the nick of time, brought in a great player to compliment Wade in Marion, they'll have a lottery pick, and they have a few expiring contracts coming off their books this summer.

Of course Shaq was a great complimentary player in Heat's title run...But when he stopped giving a fuck, he just became a huge liability. It's no secret.

as for the TOPIC, the niggas wade and marion, both of them is great players but they aint fuccin with what pippen and jordan did. two 3 peats in 8 years and we all know jordan is the greatest player ever. wade can't get close to that, just like none of all these other niggas can.
