A must see for all the fans of Khalil, go here http://www.propellerheads.se/index.cfm and then click on the DJ Khalil artist story.
Then go to "video demonstration" where he talks about creating beats with Reason and goes into specifics about:
- the beat he did for Get Rich Or Die Trying OST
- the beat he did for Kingdom Come and also breaks down the instrumental
- the beat he did for Doctor's Advocate
- the beat he did for Curtis and also breaks down the instrumental (says 50 was so exicted about the beat he wanted to sign him to G-Unit, not knowing he's already signed to Dre)
- and an exclusive beat he did for Nas's new album, shit is banging, also break down the instrumental (says Nas went crazy about the beat, it might turn out to be a street single). Here's the mp3 of the track http://www.mediafire.com/?cb31exxszpo but I suggest you look at the video because the sound quality is better and he also plays the instrumental
- says how Dre is always surprised that the beats don't have a sample
- talks about his new alternative group
- the beat he did for Jim Jones
- future projects: working on Detox a lot lately, did 3 tracks for Game's new album, Jim Jones, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Bun B, Marsha, Eminem
Man, that Nas joint sounds crazy, Nas killed it! If someone (Matty, Crip) can rip it in a better quality, don't be shy.

Cant wait from some new beats for him .. would be cool if somebody can make a CDQ compilation of all his thumping beats released so far ..
-
I've already heard the Nas vocals .. wasn't it on the beat Nas said he never rapped on
-
I thought that at first too, I know some parts are the same but if you check the video, Khalil himself plays the track. He said Nas send him an accapela and he created the beat. I doubt Khalil is using some fake Nas verse.
-
Major Propz on posting this man, that nas beat is CRAZY. some real dirty/grimey street shit.
-
its so westcoast beat..i mean NAS new one..great record.

it wasn't a fake Nas verse was it ? I thought Nas said the vocals were real but he never spit on this beat ...

You're right, this is what he said:
Nas' camp said the MC is still working out the album's final track list. On Monday afternoon (November 26), Nas himself clarified to MTV News that "What It Is" will definitely not be on the album. Those are vocals that were leaked and added onto a random beat.
"I never rhymed to that beat" he said.
-
Interesting vid...thanks for posting that. Stuff like this always interests me.
-
Sounds Sick! Can't wait for Nas new record!
-

-

I think this is original version (random beat) that got leaked Nas was referring to not rhyming on.

that beat is sick :o
i noticed some similarities with on top now by the way

Khalil's cool.. not amazing, but good.
I gotta say though, I kinda want Detox to be mainly Dre and a close circle of producers rather than the vast amount he has on deck right now. I'm sure whatever he puts out will be hot, but I'd rather hear what he himself would do for his final album

well im 100% sure dre will at least co produce every track, and a lot of producers are just providing beats to inspire Dre.
-
yeah
btw, is that video demonstration still up on their site? I'm lookin at his artist story and I can't find it
-
There's a thread in Outbound with the video that I posted.
-
I replied to that one. I'm talkin about the full vid where he breaks down the I'll Still Kill beat
-
beat is off the chain, nuff said
-
reasons has some great resources for adding EFX to sounds.. thats exactly what hes doing taking a sample and manipulating the shit out of it to the point of it being unrecognizable (like oldschool true producers used to do beatnuts etc) OR just coming in with his own sounds and freaking them
of course you just cant get reason and say yo im the shit now cuz everything i do is fire.. its the person behind the gear not the gear
-
Wow, that Nas track is pretty impressive. I really hope the rest of his new album is of the same vein....but if there's anything we should learn from preview tracks is that they usually don't represent the sound of the whole forthcoming album. Example: the Primo-produced "Nas Is Like" hit the net & airwaves before the "I Am" album was dropped, and I think it mislead the fans into thinking it was a return to the Illmatic sound. Needless to say, none of the tracks on "I Am" were worthy of even scrubbing the feet of "Nas Is Like", let alone being on the same album.
