Title: Celtics dominated the Western confrence in March
Post by: TraceOneInfinite on March 31, 2008, 10:30:33 PM
I had been a doubter to the Celtics hype all year until this last month.  This team is for real.  Nobody is going to stop them this year, or maybe for the next 3 years, as long as they have the 3 superstars.

The reason I doubted them is because of the futility of the Eastern confrence. I thought the Celtics would beat up on a weak Eastern Confrence all year and that a battle tested Western confrence team would win the finals.

But the Celtics really proved themselves in March...

-ended Rockets 22 game win streak by blowing them out.  They did this IN houston after just playing the night before on the road.

-blew out the Suns just when the team was starting to gell with Shaq.

-Beat the Mavs IN Dallas.

-Beat the Spurs

....and they have done all this soundly.  They dominateed these teams.  Garnett is shooting better from the floor then I've ever seen him shoot.  And even their role players Rondo and BigBaby are playing like All-Stars.  They out rebound, out-hustle, and outdefend all their opponenets and they are the most talented.

Laker fans will always find an excuse for the Celtics being a weak team. Trust me.

yeah man look at how much we dominated the entire west this season

our winning % against the west was probably better than against the east

Word.... I can't believe how deep they are.  It's like they sucked for so many years and got some good draft picks the last few years and now everybody is peakin at the same time.

And Garnett and pierce look hungrier than other superstars around the league.  They are dtermined to prove themselves against the West, they really got up for those games.

i left out tony allen too.

and scalabrini, who was a walking clown the last few years (seriously somefans are so mean to the guy haha)

but anyways, yes KG is hungry and plays at his best against top tier opponents.  Pierce and Allen are also probably just as hungry, and Kendrick Perkins and Rajon Rondo are servicable starters.

I would say Rondo is more than just "serviceable"... did you see the way he did Nash?

Actually they are like the Patriots of basketball the way they dominate.

And if the Patriots would of played the Giants in a 7 game series like they do in the NBA theres no way the Giants would of came out on top.

I didn't know you were this into ball, homie... Good shit.

But seriously, Celtics are a great regular season success. We know what often happens, though, with those great regular season success teams. Until they prove me wrong and prove that they can win in the playoffs, I still say Detroit>Celtics...PeACe

You always say that man.. act like your surprised when I talke about ball.  I play regularly and when I work at the hospital its always at night and all the patients are asleep so I catch the big games and highlights.  I saw the Celts play the Rockets, Celts vs. Suns, and Celts vs. Mavs this month....
so I have been doin my homework.

Mark my words homie... they are takin it this year.... my team is the Suns.... and I love the Western confrence, so I was real dissapointed when the Celts walked all over the confrence in March.

Your team is the Suns? Why?...And what do I always say? Trust me, man. Celtics are not a hard team to expose. saying Big Baby and Rondo are playing like all-stars is also an extreme exaggeration. We will have to wait and see, though

-the Suns cause Stoudamires a Muslim, Nash is a whiteboy, and Barbosa is fast, and I Kansas City doesn't have a team so I got into the Suns when they picked up Nash.  They were the most exciting team.

-you always say that your surprised when I talk about ball.

And Rondo and BigBaby have  been playing at a high level lately.  They don't make mistakes and mix well with the main 3.  It's not like the 06 Lakers where Bryant and Odom were good and everyone else looked out of place.
The celtics don't lose a step with their role and bench players.

-I feel ya, but the Suns almost started a trend which woulda' been the death of basketball (high scoring and no defense with little-to-no offensive sets)

-Damn...my bad. Maybe it's because you rarely come into this section.

-Rondo and Big Baby D are good for some youngsters, don't get me wrong. But to say they're performing like all-stars is a stretch. I don't think anyone is out of place on the Celtics, but the team IS lacking depth...Rondo is too young and inexperienced to be a starting point guard on a championship squad, while Cassell is too old. Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Keving Garnett are great players, but none of them have any real experience in big games...they're also on their last legs. Lets not forget, Kendrick Perkins is far from a starting caliber center. The playoffs will be a big test for the Celtics. Remember, the Mavs looked untouchable in the regular season last year, but were easily exposed when the playoffs rolled along. I'd fear the same if I were a Celtic fan...PeACe

Pierce has never been to the finals and neither has Garnett...they've both been to the conference finals once, but they both lost. If they can pull it off this season, I'll be surprised, to say the least.

I hate the Celtics with a passion but they have a great team .. their defense is impressive ... Boston will go the East finals with ease .. I still think Detroit has a chance , especially due to the fact they're the underdogs and they love to prove people wrong .. it's still 60-40% Boston in this matchup though .

Word, and people were saying that our bench was crap going into the season. Not the case. Our starters tend to dominate so the bench gets lots of playing time to develop, too.

I was listening to Colin Cowherd's ESPN radio show online and he was talking basketball for the first hour of the show. Anyone else listen in? Jon Barry was saying that every team in the West has some flaw, and that the Celtics and Pistons may have the best shot to take the championship despite being in the weaker conference. I'd have to agree... sure there are a lot of good teams and individual players in the West, but no team looks significantly better than the rest.

Jalen Rose also came on the show and said Chris Paul was the MVP. A good choice, but I can't credit Garnett enough for the culture change that occurred when he came to Boston.

Yeah, I still say (like Ive been sayin all year) that Detroit will go to the finals for the East.

By the way, we lost to the C's..but I dont recall us getting "dominated" lol. We were crushing them in that game and they made a great comeback.

lol how is that not valid? They have a better record and have been consistenly one of top teams in the West All year. Its not like theres a clearcut, head and shoulders above the rest, team in the West. Im sure Hornets fans would think youre retarded for saying the Lakers are better then them.

The Lakers at FULL STRENGTH are easily better than the Hornets...we beat them by 30 without Gasol. Do you really think the Hornets stand a chance in a 7 game series vs the Lakers? LOL

yes.

I know how delusional you can be about your team man. But who exactly do you think the Lakers are? lolol. There is no ONE dominant team in the West right now. My team is the defending champs and have been in first place far and away more then any other team in the West this year and still only in second place now, and still not the "clear cut favorite" to win the West. The Hornets are in first, and are still not the "clear cut favorite" to win the West. You guys are what, in third. And not the "clear cut favorite" to win the West. You guys have a shot at it. But so do about 7 other teams right now. So to think its ridiculous that any of those teams could knock off any of the other playoff teams is just plain stupid man.

+1

At full strength, I think it's fair to say the Lakers SHIT on the New Orleans...

I'm starting To Appreciate the Eastern Conference push Towards The End Now..
Hawk's Picking up at The right Moment, Cav's seem To be sinking, But They Have LeBron!
Sixers Playing Their best ball of The year At The right Time...
The Celtics's Playing How They started The season, Pistons being The Pistons Plodding Thru As number #2
Orlando Magic Is defo the Dark Horse Team, Them Top 2 need Teams Need to Pay serious Attention. {IMO}
The Washington Wizards have Gilbert back If They can Intergrate Him Into their 07-08 System....  :o
The Raptors Are The ? mark of The Conference, Which team Will Show Up. (You Know Bosh Gonna do His Thing But who else?)

The East ain't As easy As the C's might Think..
Just Like we have That Old team In The west That won't Go away (Spurs)
Detroit is Still the Gate keeper in The East. (Regardless of How Bad 'Bron Rape'd Em last Season)

I expect The Eastern Conference Playoffs to be Longest And Hardest Fought..
I'll Go against The Grain And Predict Multiple Upset's In The Playoffs For The East.

As For The West..
May The best Fucken team win.
But For the Record, I'm Defo not afraid Of The Hornets 1 bit..  8)
(Both As A Laker fan, IMO, Nor Should Any Other Western Conference hopefull)

I have Respect The Hornets, But I Don't RESPECT the Hornets as A Playoffs team..
(They Could Prove Me Wrong, C. Paul Is One Hell Of a Player..)

Yeah Im definetely not scared of any of the teams in the West. We've beatin better teams to get to the finals in the past. But this is a different year. My point to NIK was only that any of the top 6 or 7 teams in the West legitimately have a shot at getting to the finals. I try not to get too full of my team, especially during the regular season. It honestly means nothing, especially this year with so much balance. Being the number 1 seed, might not be any better then being the number 3 seed, yah know? Its just funny to me to see a fan of the third place team in the west acting as if his team is head and shoulders above the rest LOL

That's Real..
The Western Conference is Nutz!
(Anyone Can Beat Anyone)

The Number 1 ain't Necessarily The Number 1...

Well, look at what we did with a healthy squad...IMO, no team can beat a healthy Lakers in a 7 game series. It's funny to see you getting all worked up over my valid opinions...LOL

your "valid opinion" is that someone elses opinion isnt valid lol Youre acting like someone said the Sonics will beat the Lakers in a seven game series.
