Pretty nice match-up...I say Gasol is the better overall player, while Boozer has the edge in rebounding. Gasol has the advantage as a scorer, defender, and passer. Who would you want on your team?
Pau Gasol:
18.8 PPG (58.1% FG, 80% FT)
8 RPG
3.4 APG
0.6 SPG
1.6 BPG
1.6 TO
Carlos Boozer:
21.6 PPG (54.9% FG, 74% FT)
10.7 RPG
2.8 APG
1.3 SPG
0.5 BPG
2.6 TO

Both Great Top Tier Players.
But When It Comes To The Lakers Pau Gasol is The Perfect Fit.
(The Rebounds Are Gonna Be lower Cause Of a Beast called Odom, Wait Till Bynum Comes back!)
Just Like Boozer is For Utah.
Although Imagine, Gasol getting Set Up Every Play Like Williams does For Booze?
Pau Would Prob Average 22+ scoring AVG.
To Some it's A Toss Up, But Let's Just say I'm Glad we have Pau.

Yup...Boozer also averages 16.3 attempts per game to Gasol's 12.2.

Gasol is a perfect fit for us, great versatile offense , a terrific passer.. I don't like his defense though .. but Boozer is WAY worse on the defensive end.. dude can't block a shot to save his life
-
Gasol is the guy I've been praying for, we got him, and I couldn't be happier. My only complaint with him is he's too unselfish sometimes. When Boozer has he shot he takes it, where as Gasol will look around to see who's open first causing himself to miss a lot of open looks.

its a tie.....they both lose.
Naw, but I do think its a wash. I say each player would be the better fit for their respective teams though. Gasol is a better fir for the Lakers then he would be in Utah, and Boozer is a better fit in Utah then he would be in LA.
-
boozer is better but gasol fits in perfectly with the lakers
-
pau gasol
-
They are both great... I think Gasol has a higher value because having a 7 footer who can do all of those things is rare as fuck.

you make him sound like Dwight lol

well... technically Dwight isn't a 7 footer. 8)

A 7 foot power forward with a basketball iq that high is rare. Don't hate on Gasol just cuz he's with the best franchise in sports history.

if i went back to rooting for the Suns now how would I look?? ::) damned if i do damned if i don't?

I'll never take Celtics fans serious. I saw how they completely abandoned their team. Remember Kobe was getting MVP chants last year then getting roars of boos this year? Lol faggots.

Kobe abandoned his teammates and demands trades "all the time"?...As far as everyone who knows shit is concerned, it was a plea to get the front office moving their asses and his teammates focused on winning, and it was only once, not "all the time".
Paul Pierce, on the other hand, demanded a trade last season and really wanted to be traded...Though "you guys" lucked out with KG and Ray Allen before he could get traded...
Anyways, what does this have to do with Gasol being better than Boozer?
-

Say what you want but I bet my fuckin life no player on another team will ever step into the Staples and get MVP chants.
Kobe's outburst was to put pressure on the front office. He has a no trade clause so he knew that even if they did agree to trade him he could just say no. Thats how unselfish he is, dude put his entire rep on the line to get the necessary improvements that we were all begging for.
-
^^LOL You make it seem like what he did was heroic or something, kind of the opposite dude.

Magic Defends Fans Who Booed Kobe

With all of the trade rumors surrounding Kobe Bryant, it's not surprising that a few fans at the Lakers' home opener last night felt the need to greet their soon-to-be-departed hero with a smattering of boos. After all, Kobe was the one that started all of this nonsense by demanding to be traded, so I can understand why a small percentage of the fans in attendance felt the need to express their displeasure.
Magic Johnson also understood where the fans were coming from, and from the TNT studio, he discussed the many reasons why Kobe might have deserved to be booed:
"'I think the Laker fans want him to stay. I mean . . . let's be frank about it. Colorado happened. Who supported him? The Laker fans. The Laker management supported him as well, through all of that. The Kobe-Shaq situation. The Laker fans still supported him. Laker management supported him.
"It's all of those things. We have to understand that nobody wants to see him go, but he's demanding that he wants to go. So fans, they get upset when they have been there for years supporting you. They want you to stay.
"So when you say, 'Hey, it's time for me to get out of town,' you're not going to expect them to be happy about this situation."
You know things are getting pretty serious for Magic to pull out the Colorado card, the Lakers' front office usually likes to pretend that it never happened. Anyway, I definitely wouldn't have booed Kobe had I been there, but then again I'm not facing the reality of having spent thousands of dollars on Lakers season tickets to watch a Kobe-less lottery team every night either.

Those are gay fans who didn't understand the greatness of what he was doing... after they saw the results of what he did, they all shut their mouths and chanted "MVP!", sorta like a few Laker fans on this board who trashed Kobe for the same shit...I was the one who said it would get the front office off their asses and bring positive change all along...PeACe

It wasn't heroic but it was fuckin ingenious. This guy put puppet strings on our front office to make them snap out of being happy with mediocrity. And it wasn't just Kobe, Paul Pierce did the same thing and it worked for him too. Do you really think Ainge would've used that #5 draft pick if he thought Pierce would've been fine with it?
Kobe keeps his mouth shut = Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, and nixed trades to bring us guys like Boozer and Artest
Kobe speaks up = Cook/Evans for Trevor Ariza and Kwame/Crittenton for Pau Gasol.

i thought Laker fans were above that ;)

Not going to answer the question Boozer is way better not worth answering the poll I know if you dick ride one of those dudes your going to chose them but I don't like either of them I'm just being real

Can we get a tie-breaker in this bitch?
-
Can we get a tie-breaker in this bitch?
Yeah. Basically Gasol is a better fit for the Lakers, and Boozer is a better fit for the Jazz.
Let's say it's a tie.
-
Gasol > Boozer...
Easy Choice.
Experience Kills!!
-
I've never liked either one, but I guess I'd have to go with Pau since Boozer = a slightly smarter Z-Bo.
-
In my honest opinion, Gasol is the 3rd best PF in the league (Duncan and Garnett being interchangeable at 1 and 2).
-
Now we can see who's the better player. 8)
-
Pau
-
boozer is too inconsistant.
-
upping those threads any time a laker player had the better game is fucking annoying. I hope boozer goes for 20 and 20 again in the next game, I will then up this thread again. if boozer has a bad game, I will just act as if nothing happened. ::)
-
im tired of gasol flopping or crying after every play for a foul each time he throws up a shot and misses...
i caught lamar odom, flopping for a foul call and patting a jazz player on the ass immediately after
they need to start bringing instant replay to foul calls.. too many players getting away with shit these playoffs because of yelling or WHO THEY ARE
-

Can you for once use your common sense? I upped these threads because the teams are having a series against eachother...in the series, Odom has outplayed AK and Pau has outplayed Boozer. It's not rocket science, sunny.
-
The Jazz have some real problems on the road and they are a much stronger team at home for whatever reasons. So is Boozer. If the Jazz had home court advantage, I could see Utah over LA in 7 and Boozer outplaying Gasol over the series. I'm quite sure Boozer will be better than Gasol in Game 6.
-
^we'll see about that. we easily coulda won Game 4 in Utah if we woulda connected on our free throws...and Gasol outplayed Boozer in that game, as well.
-

Yeah it has become pretty annoying, I'm not talking shit cause this is the truth but the Lakers complain more then any team I have ever seen, even more then the Spurs
-
^Can you blame them with the way they're officiated?
-
^Can you blame them with the way they're officiated?
minus Kobe I think they are officiated fairly, I agree though that Kobe doesnt get the respect from the officials he deserves, they give it all to Bron and Wade :-X
-
I'm happy Pau is with us... but I will also suggest that he hits the gym and toughens himself up a little more. And when Kobe is off the floor and he's on it, he needs to be the aggressive General...
-

^yea...but Utah has been getting the benefit of the doubt in this series, especially on the road. Gasol never used to complain in Memphis...but now that he's wearing the purple and gold, things have changed. I don't think it's a coincidence. The Lakers collectively get officiated poorly, which results in a lot of complaints. I don't necessarily think the refs are out to get Gasol in particular...but you can't deny, dude has been getting hacked a lot with no whistle. Could be his soft (yet effective) post game.
-
I'm happy Pau is with us... but I will also suggest that he hits the gym and toughens himself up a little more. And when Kobe is off the floor and he's on it, he needs to be the aggressive General...
yeah pau is way too thin to be a PF or a dominant center. i love his game but i think farmar could take him out on the bench
-

I dunno...Pau has done exceptionally well at both the PF and C throughout his career. He's not an athletic monster, but he does have the length, size, skill, plus the excellent basketball IQ, to be a great big for years to come. Remember, the greatest center ever, Kareem, was also one of the thinnest centers ever.
-
Interesting statistic for those who STILL keep voting Boozer.
The last 5 games in the Lakers-Utah series-
Boozer:
0 blocks
Gasol:
14 blocks
:o

1. LOL I LOVE THIS (http://i28.tinypic.com/1zxmj53.gif)
2. i'm not saying pau is a bad player... he's like the biggest gift from the heavens above since internet porn as far as i'm concerned, but what would put him over the top and into the same category as the all time greats , would be if he has some muscle on him. i mean imagine if he added just 15 pounds of muscle how much more damage he could do in this era's league. kareem could get away with bein' thin , asided from the old detroit pistons, players in the 70's and 80's were anerexic looking. i mean reggie miller didn't look weird til' 1992.
3. how many blocks is the lakers averaging as a team? i know it's a lot cuz every box score i keep seeing 6, 7, 8 ,ect. and utah/denver has like 2 or 3
4. hack wilson like the great congonese poet dikembe mutombo once said.... :nawty:
-
upping those threads any time a laker player had the better game is fucking annoying.
Yeah seriously. Let people have their opinion without shoving individual games in their face. I remember this douche would do this to me every 30 games when Smush Parker finally played good.
-
Kareem would make Russell cry with all of those sky-hooks shot over him.... (You know I couldn't let you get away with that Hack) 8)
I think Pau can use a few added muscles. It would help him bang a little more.

^Can you blame them with the way they're officiated?
minus Kobe I think they are officiated fairly, I agree though that Kobe doesnt get the respect from the officials he deserves, they give it all to Bron and Wade :-X
i think you forgot about the minor details in games 1 and 2 where kobe shot over 20 FREE THROWS? if anybody is a master at drawing fouls its kobe
head fakes gets the player in the air whistle, press up on kobe defensively, you face up got your hand on him he twirls his hands and throws up a wild shot whistle, kobe drives into the lane a defender side by side with him he bumps him uses his hang time for a 3 point opportunity WHISTLE .. don't tell me you guys dont see this?
the league did hate the lakers especially kobe after that colorado scandal they were showing him 0 love.. but nowadays kobe's on a fast break Ak47 is running side by side, pokes the ball cleanly as shown on the replay (this happened about 3 times) and kobe screams = WHISTLE
gasol never used to be like this back in memphis, Kobe rubbed off on him now everytime hes in the paint with the rock you hear him scream OUCH OUCH OUCH even when theres nobody around him within 3-4 feet distance lol
then when a defensive player makes a solid defensive stand against him and he misses hes crying for a foul.
what im seeing is alot of BITCH-ASS-NESS out on the hoop court, the league needs to implement instant replay on controversial foul calls asap either that or go back to the 80s 90s defensive oriented style game play where it was way more physical than this pussy ass game .. no more oakleys, masons, zo mournings, charles barkleys, moses malones, bill laimbeers, to lay the wood on you anymore when you drive into the paint.. or when your playing in the post (stupid t.v. ratings)

^Kobe gets fouled on practically ever play. If the Jordan Rules applied to him, he'd be going to the line more than he already did...the refs are getting better with him, though. I can admit that. But for real, nobody's "rubbing off" on Gasol, it's just that now he's a much bigger target in that Laker jersey. Boozer and Okur have shitty defense, so they resort to hacking, which goes unwhistled a lot of times.. There was even a little sequence where Gasol was fouled 3 times on the same play, but he kept getting the offensive rebound and finally put it in on the 3rd a attempt..no complaints, just made a funny face like "wtf?"...i think if I was in the league with these terrible officials, I'd be on some Bobby Knight shit, throwing chairs and what not...You dunno how hard it is to play like that.
-
Damn...This series really proved all my points.
Boozer:
16 PPG (43/109 FG)
Total Blocks: 0
Gasol:
18.5 PPG (47/84 FG)
Total Blocks: 18
Anyone who voted Boozer change their mind?

yeah pau is way too thin to be a PF or a dominant center. i love his game but i think farmar could take him out on the bench
I dunno...Pau has done exceptionally well at both the PF and C throughout his career. He's not an athletic monster, but he does have the length, size, skill, plus the excellent basketball IQ, to be a great big for years to come. Remember, the greatest center ever, Kareem, was also one of the thinnest centers ever.
bacctrac alert. first the jew said gasol has done exceptionnally well at center throughout his career and actually mentioned him in the same breath as a center as KAREEM ahahaha.
but now all of a sudden the lakers lost cuz gasol was playing out of position at center, now the jew says "he is a power forward, he never plays center!!!"
-
^ he obviously did do exceptionally well playing as a center...the Lakers won the west with him there. That doesn't mean he's a natural center, idiot. You're trying really hard and you need to stop.
-
gettin exposed as a soft, bitch ass euro laker center is doing exceptionnally well?
is that why kg took a piss on him all series just like the celtics took a piss on the lakers?
-
^Obviously, he made it clear that he isn't a starting center on a championship team...he's a starting power forward on a championship team. 8)
-
^Obviously, he made it clear that he isn't a starting center on a championship team...he's a starting power forward on a championship team. 8)
HE DOESN'T PLAY FOR THE CELTICS. HE'S NOT ON A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM. HE'S ON A CHOKING LOSING BITCHMADE TEAM THAT GAVE UP.

Lakers=5 championships in the next 7-8 years
Celtics=0 championships in the next 10 years
Mark it.

EVERYTHING YOU SAY IS BASED ON SPECULATION
LAKERS CHAMPIONSHIPS, KOBE ACCOMPLISHMENTS, ETC.
RIGHT NOW:
CELTICS >>>>>>>>>> LAKERS
MJ >>>>>>>>>>>>>> KOBE
MARK IT.

Russell would school Kareem with his high IQ and Bob Cousy would neutralize Magic

carlos boozer wouldn't get schooled so bad

LMFAOOOO...especially the latter.

you forgot the ba-dump-bump after that joke... :)

carlos boozer wouldn't get schooled so bad
Oh, c'mon man. I'm maybe the only Laker fan in here who preferred Boozer, but you can't seriously write this type of shit. Matter of fact Boozer was schooled by Gasol, lol. Stop hating, keep it real.

i used to be a Suns fan
