Inspired by that Hit Rocks thread, I decided to give Dead Man Walkin a listen. I hadn't listened to it in a while and I realised that it has a few bangers on it.
What is everyones opinion on this compilation (as its not really an album)?
-
yea there are some...
I Will Survive
Gangsta Walk
Change Gone Come
C-Walkin
Head Doctor
Hit Rocks

All those are dope. Tommy Boy is a good one too.

I like it cause its shorter than his regular albums and not much filler
I dont know why they put Me and My Doggs on it though it was already on Doggfather :-\

It was decent. I bang about half the tracks from it.

Kurupt Murdered "Gangsta Walk"
great track 8)

it's sad that unreleased songs like this outshine Snoop's latest work the last couple years..
nothing beat DR Snoop's laid back flow.
-
"Change Gone Come, "C-Walkin" & "Gangsta Walk" are straight classic, "Head Doctor" is great too.
-
Come to think about it, I've never listened to this. Maybe I'll give it a "spin" :P
-
wat traks wer rmx'd? Head doctor, 4got the othr 1 but is the trak my favorite color remixd as wel? Wat i hav dificulty wit this trak is how snoop & hutch sound the same. can sum1 tel me wen hutch raps n the trak?
-
i thought it was wack as fuck
-
wat traks wer rmx'd?
I know "C-Walkin" was remixed, the original version was on "Smokefest". I guess "My Favourite Color" was remixed too.
-
This compilation has some nice tracks, no question. Think I had to give it another spin

that beat is sick, Daz used a similar one on "Homeboys" by Pac
-
This compilation has some nice tracks
-
great
-
to be honest i never really gave this a chance when it came out i was too busy listening to last meal.
-
shit has alot of dope ass tracks. if you put together smokefest + dead man walkin + snoop dogg greatest hits you'd get a hella nice CD
-
Anybody got "Smokefest"?

I wonder how you all can ignore "May I", the first track. Snoop's flow is vicious on that one and Soopa came tight on the beat.

I was listening to this album today 8)
I cant even compare it to present day Snoop because he was on another level back then
-
I know I might get hate for this, but I like Snoop's Doggfather flow better than his Doggystyle one.
-

Then again, it seems quite hard to satisfy you. No beef or anything but i can't remember the last time you said you thought something was good.

props 8)
I feel the same way Doggfather is my favorite Snoop album
I still listen to it to this day

Hell yeah!
I got this CD the week it came out, and was pleasantly damn surprised... May I, too Black, My Favorite Color, C-Walk, County Bluez, and my absoulute favorite track from that shit "I will Survive"
Tracks from that album get bumped on my Ipod, daily.
Great DR compilation of unused Snoop stuff....
-
It sounds like sum underground shit, but yeah, it's dope... I like most of tracks on this compilation. 8)
-
I also like "Tha Doggfather", probably my second favorite Snoop album along with "Tha Last Meal" I think his flow was pretty much the same during his DR years but after he stopped working with Dre and the DOC his delivery was what suffered. Lyrics and flow were still on point. The DOC would coach him on how to bring his raps and he missed that

Cool, glad someone else likes that joint too. It seems like nobody likes the same cuts as I do. I thought I was crazy...
-
I never really considered it to be a compilation wven though Im aware that Snoop himself didnt exec. produced it.
I like the track 'Gangsta Walk', very hypnotic rhythm. And 'Me and My Dogg's sounds like from the Doggfather-era.
-
And 'Me and My Dogg's sounds like from the Doggfather-era.
Thats because it is on Doggfather.

lol

all of the tracks were from "Tha Doggfather" era, recorded in '96 and '97. "Hit Rocks" was a leftover from that album.

Actually "Hit Rocks" is from the unreleased "LBC Crew" album. It was on the tracklisting.

Funny thing is I have reason to believe that promo might be fake, due to Death Row's catalog list the L.B.C. Crew album as unfinished.

I Digg Thiss Album... 8)
-

I thought Dead Man Walkin was way better than the Last Meal, I still listen to DMW, but never listen to the Last Meal, I don't know why so many people dig that album

I remember the big debate was what album was better. This or Last Meal.
-
I like Last Meal but it kind of drags and I have to skip over some fillers
Dead Man Walkin has less tracks so I can pretty much listen to it all the way through
-

that's pretty much how I feel.
Kokane was on 8 tracks and I got tired of his choruses. it makes every song sound too alike.
-
Last Meal for me. That one freestyle they had of Snoop, he sounded like he was half drunk was horrible. Couple dope cuts and alot of average ones. The production on LM was crazy. It did tail off towards the end of the album but it's still one of my favs.

props Johnny, too much Kokane for me too
he was dope on a few tracks I gotta admit but it sounded like a Snoop/Kokane collabo album

Personnaly I wouldn't mind a Snoop/Kokane combo, their styles are complementary and they both know how to rip a beat!

what's everyone's top 5 songs on Last Meal?

"Lay Low", "Go Away", "Issues", "Set It Off", "Y'all Gone Miss Me", alot of classic tracks on it though.
