go out and DO IT... trust me you will not be disappointed... you will actually probably never go back to a PC once you get shit going... i know people will talk shit or whatever but i am extremely happy with MAC and i have been using it for 10+ years and the experience has only gotten better with time.

Why are MACs so much better? And aren't they more expensive?

At my school we were taught on MACS. So i can do all sorts of shit on a mac but then we left school and no one uses them. Fuckin waste man, the school only buy them cos they get a deal on them, Buy 20 get 1 free or some shit. Walk into an interview and they ask about your computer skills, you tell them how you can do all this shit with a mac and they look at you like you have Rabies
Glad i got that off my chest. I've been harbouring that one for a couple of years now

Don't do it! They are terrible.

On the real - go ahead if you feel like it. BUT - there is the very real danger of turning into an asshole. I'm dead serious. My brother bought a Mac a couple years back and suddenly he's elitist mofo with nothing else than something with an Apple logo good enough for him.
Always remember this: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=macs_cant (http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=macs_cant)
I just know that I'm not getting one.

if you dont get caught up in being a retard, they are fine. i've used a mac for about 5 or 6 years now and haven't gone back to a PC except for my boxes at work. itunes etc is good for music, and iphoto for my photos.. other than that i use it more for the UNIX build underneath than being some fruity apple hippy

Do it man. Made the switch in February and couldn't ever imagine going back to PCs, they just seem awkward and poorly designed whenever I am forced to go back to one in an internet cafe or to help out my parents when they are having problems with theirs. With a Mac you get a reliable, streamlined experience that is just not possible on a PC.
On the downside, if you are a student or sometimes need to take work home from the office then it is possible that the programs you need for your course/work may be PC only, but if this is really an issue then you can use bootcamp or a similar app to create a windows partition on your Mac and boot to Windows in order to use those programs as and when you need them.

haha, explain how is it "not possible" to get a reliable PC?
and what is a "streamlined experience"?

If yall aint happy wit the Mac you can still install Windows Vista on it and use Bootcamp to put half the memory on that.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you get a fuck-ton of memory, 'cause even though I like it, I gotta admit Vista is a RAM whore.

That's what Mac people always say, and it indedd does do that stuff well, but frankly I don't know of any task you couldn't do equally well on a Windows or Linux based PC (Linux having some obvious software limitations, though). As long as the hardware is up to it, the OS doesn't really matter in the end.

Os is important when doing programs..however, there are lot of amatures who thinks they know what they getting themselves into when they get mac... as long as they know what they intend to get then it's all good. mac is a powerhouse. I guess windows got some, however I'm bias against windows when it comes to music program and graphic designing. oh well...

I'm a Windows user myself, but I have some experience from Macs as well.
As far as my experience goes, Macs and Windows PC's can do the same shit, but Windows (and the required anti-virus software) uses more resources and thus needs more powerful hardware. How much more powerful depends on the task, but difference isn't very big. But, again, in the end it's pretty much down to user preference. I've used Windows more so I like it more, my brother is the opposite.
But since you mentioned graphic design - I really hate using Photoshop (my bitmap editor of choice) on a Mac cause of one thing: In Windows Photoshop with all its tools and panels is rendered in its own window with a grey background. On a Mac the tools and panels are placed straight on the desktop, with the background visible. It's just personal preference again, but I find it distracting having another image visible all the time while working on another. And it can affect your "eye", 'cause certain colors might not look as appealing in contrast with your desktop background as they would on their own. If I want to see how an image works with another, I open those in Photoshop together, but I certainly don't want to see my desktop background all the time when doing graphics. Adriana Lima's and Eva Mendez' curves would demand all my attention.
But ultimately - I've done Photoshop stuff, Flash stuff, video editing stuff and 3D stuff on both Windows and OS X and there's really no practical difference in the end. Some quick-key command issues for me personally, but nothing serious.
Music and audio software I can't really comment on - not my forté...

macs for the LOSE

actually, there is one difference between mac and pc..when ur doing photoshop and illustrator..or whatever...you'll notice the program screen will fit perfectly with mac and it will cut off some part of the program in pc...

buy the right hardware, install osx on your pc
easiest solution

Bought an iMac a year ago and fucking love it. I will [chris tucker voice] NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER [/chris rock voice] buy another PC. NEVER. Have I made it clear I'll never spend money on a PC again? Cuz I won't.
