Title: Who do you think in all honesty can be a leader for the west coast
Post by: PsychoToons5150 on October 03, 2008, 11:51:56 PM
Since Pac died it seems and feels like nobody really has stepped up to be a leader as far as the west coast goes  and I was wondering who ya'll feel can really be that major voice for the west and get the eyes back on us like they used to be.  and No offense but I dont see The game falling into that position because not enough people take him seriously I mean hes cool but he just doesnt have the respect and Snoop could be but he really has to step up and reach out to the whole west not just Southern Cali.

maybe because Game got a life outside music..so what u want him to go to every award shows so you can jerk off to him on blog sites??

shut the fuck up.

whos the most relevant artist on the westcoast????

exactly...

who sells the most records on the westcoast right now??

exactly..

so if people are starting to "not like him" is that why only Jeezy, Ti and Wayne outsold his 1st week nrs this year?

So Snoop aint the king cuz he doesnt reach out to new artist?

man i swear people on this site are stupid as fuck. u muthafuckas have these dumb ass expectations.

so because Game choses to drop albums, then go back home to his family and he's not on blog sites everyday..he's not the leader anymore?

lmaaao man this is ridiculous.

LOOOL how do u know he has he most haters?

According to the internet?

haha you a fool. Another gullible cracker.

So if Wayne is SOOOO hated how come he sold so much??

Exactly stop being fooled by the internet. The internet is not reality.

Haha see what im sayin, Gullible ass cracker...The Documentary did 2.5 mill in the US not 5 mill..and that was when EVERYBODY sold stop being fuckin stupid.

Haha this dude is stupid..nigga said "if you a leader you have to be everywhere" LMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOO!!!

man these dudes on the net kill me how dumb they are.

family > music.

Game is still sellin..everytime Game drops albums he creates this momentum in hiphop..so he doesnt need to deal wit the glamour just because U want to see him on blog sites u faggot.

Nigga tryna compare sales from 2005 and now. Aint nobody sellin right now. Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks went godl and platinum back then and now they cant even break more than 300,000 in total sales.

But lemme ask you something...if Game aint the leader..when he sells the most records...is the most relevant artist on the west...then who is?

Snoop goes to all kidns of shit everyday..that nigga in blog sites everyday...but how come he havent outsold Game?????

exactly. shut your dumb ass up.

Ohhh and since Game is the "most hated after Wayne":..funny how he outsells cats like Snoop, Cube and Nas etc. But I guess he STILL more hated than them huh??

LMAO

Damn here we go again with the fucking arguing like kids. I asked a honest question aint no need for all the fucking bitching back and forth. and by the way I dont really think album sales make anybody a leader it all has to do with respect. and I guess I can say Ice Cube is a good choice because hes very respected everywhere. because without respect your nothing.

Ice Cube has retired, Snoop is washed up and The Game is quittin, Dre releases Detox and goes back to his hole with Eminem...I don't see anyone taking the leader spot, especially with these "new west" cats that can't release an album if their lives depended on it.

Yeah, he has been doing it for years. Snoop even said it at the height of his career. Cube & WSC had the WORLD throwing up the W, Snoop has been more the King for a while, but man Cube made you want to be from the west, have pride in the west. He does not speak out as much as he used to, but him and Pac were like the aggresive voice of the coast. Shame that Pac thought Cube was riding on his coattails back then because they both were on the same page.

Cube might be because imo he has been relevant through his whole career & gets respect from everybody...

But then again, Cube's career started before Pac's (who threadstarter referred as the previous leader) so that way it would be kinda weird to say that he is the leader now. But Cube is a good answer still.

But I think Game is the west coast leader atleast from these newer rappers eventhough he has certain amount of haters....

He is the only west coast artist who started his career in the 2000s to sell records really well plus he reps Cali & LA so that's another reason too. But his only problem is that he's not respected by everybody. And of course if he really retires now he can't be "the leader"

but we're talking about the present and the future right?
sure Cube has his independent label, but he's only focusing on a few artists, he's not planning to build some sort of powerhouse  ;)

off course some one can be looked at as a leader, from so many different angles.

by the way, i'm getting tired of the perception that the 'west coast' is a team that competes against other regions/states whatever ( as a response to the first post and to similar posts/comments)

Oh no doubt, times have changed. But I still think Cube has the opportunity to be a leader because really since Pac only a few have stepped up and taken that title. Really outside of the work Snoop did with Doggystyle there has not been a label to really step forward and showcase talent. I don't know what Cube has up his sleeves but WC albums I am sure will not be the only thing coming from him. And if that WSC album ever comes out soon, he has got to be in the running for it.

Nobody really.  Game is a major face of the Westcoast though.  In all honesty, we don't need a "leader".  We just need people to drop quality music and not beef amongst eachother for no good reason.

of course not overnight, its gon take months, even years
but whos better then them?

bein lyrical is important and is a factor in the rise of a coast IMO

nobody, every artist is gonna have to do their own thing because Tupac didn't really rep the West Coast, he was really a guy from the East coast he had flow and stood out on the West Coast, he made some cool west coast songs though in homeage to his new home, but he wasn't really a west coaster, there wasn't even west coast artist in his group Outlaws they were all from his hometown (the east coast), and Tupac always, i repeat always wore his timberland boots, but as far as real west coast people
i would say Snoop Dog led the coast.

but every artist got to do they own thing, and not be followers, or you just gonna have a bunch of follower artist.  Everybody just got to bring their own interpretation of hip hop to the table.

Being lyrical is important but you also have to have flow.  And I agree, albums (not mixtapes) need to start dropping for others to take us seriously again.  It's cool to drop mixtapes but release them with a purpose.  Solidify your album release date and then drop the mixtapes leading up to that.

Yeah but it was not like Pac just moved to the west a couple of weeks before dropping music. He lived in Marin City/Oakland for a while. 17 or 18 he has when he moved there. Pac repped the west as much if not more then Snoop or Cube or anyone else out here that was repping it hard.

nah I agree I mean cats on here and elsewhere say well shit you blind or deaf?
you aint heard of
211,
big wy,
sly boogy,
tha realest
yukmouth
el prez
roccett
young joker
bishop lamont
ras kass
crooked
G malone
bloc boyz

and the list can go on right?

but in all honesty and reality who are heavy hitters?
who can spit and has a flow like you said?
who has mass appeal?

not all them rappers, that dont mean they dont have fans and wont sell records!

that jus means we have better rappers that out there but arent gettin heard, but any given reasons. fuck tha industry yeah, but you gotta put in work and release the damn album!
a fuckin mixtape is free these days, whos chargin for them? ya boy, he wont gain as many fans as he would by givin it out for free?

1.produce heat
2.have a flow
3.mass appeal
4.be unlike no other

who fit in that category

1.crooked I
2.ras kass
3.G Malone (IMO he doesnt bring heat all the time, and I think its cuz of his beat selection, but hes dope none-the-less)
4.planet asia
5.shit Ice Cube still got what it takes
6.and dub-c
7.xzibit
8.kam

thats jus a few

but when do we hear from them?

aite cube dropped a album! dope album!
dub dropped a album, dope album!!

but thats it.  we need more albums on the regular! and again a mixtape aint gon cut it!

when he was 18 bout to turn 19, and that means he was completely raised in New york and baltimore, hence his rap style...no??? lol
you are a man at 18, im not hating, i love east coast rap, but im just saying this is the reason he stood out and "lead" west coast rap, because he was from were rap is from, he was a straight professional in hip hop, when the west coast was still warming up to it, you know what im saying

plus he was living in New York, the whole time he was in cali he frequently went back for 2 - 3 months at a time, of course death row wouldn't tell you that, but were you think he met outlaws, just randomly, these were his real friends, and him and biggie were homies! Biggie used to sleep at Tupacs NYC house

thats why he was so disappointed that he got shot on the East Coast, he felt betrayed, because he was getting so much love in his second home, and when he went back to his real home he was sabatage, but the truth of the matter is, NY dudes do that to they own everyday, nothing had changed, u know

p.s. for the west to make a strong comeback you need more than a leader, you need a MOVEMENT

you need a bunch of individual leaders, doing different things, and then they will all be noticed and it will be a movement!!!

we just had The Game, that was just one person, you feel me, it needs to be at least 5 mcs or more with strong music, AND THEY CAN'T BE MOVING ALL IN THE SAME DIRECTION, NEED DIVERSITY, AND THEN THEY WILL SAY, THE WEST COAST IS A FORCE, BECAUSE WE'LL COVER EVERY AREA.

but the whole 2pac (rip) thing I mean the reason he was the face of this coast is cuz he was always in the camera, jail, doin songs, drama, wit suge and much more

now it doesnt look like were gon have someone on the level as pac
altho dre is monumental and prolly has more power IMO
but that dont mean Kam, crooked I, ras kass, need to quit rap especially when they some of the dopest rappers live!

and thats what they make it seem like.!!its like they tryin to hard, beyond that to be great!
do you, release the damn album!

you are wrong about 2pac living in east coast  most of his rap career. 2pac lived in west coast most of time untill right before he made me against the world. 2pac was part of digital underground & stayied mostly in west coast when he was a part of D.U.so 2pac did not have east coast home until after strickly 4 my niggaz. the outalwz were his childhood friends . they all moved out to west coast with 2pac. i am expert on 2pac .

Yeah but it was not like Pac just moved to the west a couple of weeks before dropping music. He lived in Marin City/Oakland for a while. 17 or 18 he has when he moved there. Pac repped the west as much if not more then Snoop or Cube or anyone else out here that was repping it hard.

when he was 18 bout to turn 19, and that means he was completely raised in New york and baltimore, hence his rap style...no??? lol
you are a man at 18, im not hating, i love east coast rap, but im just saying this is the reason he stood out and "lead" west coast rap, because he was from were rap is from, he was a straight professional in hip hop, when the west coast was still warming up to it, you know what im saying

plus he was living in New York, the whole time he was in cali he frequently went back for 2 - 3 months at a time, of course death row wouldn't tell you that, but were you think he met outlaws, just randomly, these were his real friends, and him and biggie were homies! Biggie used to sleep at Tupacs NYC house

thats why he was so disappointed that he got shot on the East Coast, he felt betrayed, because he was getting so much love in his second home, and when he went back to his real home he was sabatage, but the truth of the matter is, NY dudes do that to they own everyday, nothing had changed, u know

peace
you are wrong about 2pac living in east coast  most of his rap career. 2pac lived in west coast most of time untill right before he made me against the world. 2pac was part of digital underground & stayied mostly in west coast when he was a part of D.U.so 2pac did not have east coast home until after strickly 4 my niggaz. the outalwz were his childhood friends . they all moved out to west coast with 2pac. i am expert on 2pac .

thats a lie homie, he was frequently going back in forth even though he fucked with Digital Underground, this is a fact, ask his MOTHER and READ WHAT SHE SAYS, FUCK TELEVISION AND WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO BELIEVE, TALK TO THE LADY WHO SENT HIM LOL..

and matter fact the niggah even lived there when he was filming above the rim, New York City was Tupacs home, you're trying to argue with me on that? seriously? damn, you're weird if you didn't know that, i mean how many native LA people wear timberland boots everyday...like how pac did.

Pac also lived in one of the worst cities in America, Baltimore. aka Body More! or what he called "Ignorant town", which is similar in culture to Philadelphia more than to New York eventhough its on the East, New York is real fast, and Baltimore is more laid back , and more grimey like Philly.

There is too much fuckin hate and jealousy from artist and towards artist  I never thought i would be saying this shit but west coast hip hop is almost non existant on a commercial level.  We are headed back to the underground which could be good musically, but sales, radio play and video exposure we are fucked. >:(
