scheduled release date february 10, 2009
album is supposed to be released in one month, but there's been no promo or advertising at all about the album besides on warren g's myspace, and the ttl records website.
warren g's myspace page dont say much besides at the top of the page it says new album in february. it doesnt say anything else. as for the ttl records website, they havnt updated the website in 2 months, and the website is not even finished properly yet. this TTL records suck. i understand that they're an independant label, but they cant even market their artist properly on their own website, and thats pretty pathetic.
it makes me wonder if the album will even come out when they say it will....
an online cd store scheduled the album to be released on: October 04, 2008
then the album was pushed back to: January 27, 2009
then the album was pushed back again to February 10, 2009
and if the record does come out at the latest set date, then i hope the album is nothin like the 2 tracks that have been heard so far, coz then i wont be pickin up the album.
you would think warren g would be the last one to switch up his style to some sellout shyt, but unfortunately he too has sold out a bit, and he aint even releasin his album on a major record label, so the album wont go mainstream regardless. he just hurtin the real fans who are going to buy his record, by not keepin the LP straight gfunk.
we can only hope that the album will sound nothing like what we heard. hopefully the "she got her own ringtone" song wont end up on the record. i suppose "crush" will be on the album, since he pushin that as his single.

i believe this 100wayz album will sell over 100k aswell. they be keepin their music straight westcoast,
by making music only for their solid fan base, and not the mainstream, and look how well they do,....
warren has got the wrong mentality, coz he thinks he can still blow up, by making music for the mainstream on an independant record label.

I appreciate the sentiment. Staying true to what I do. I think when people look to me for the music I make; they look to me for a very specific sound. They look for socially relevant content. They look for music that is consistently along the same vein of what they’ve come to expect; rarely do you get surprises from me. I pretty much stay in my lane when it comes to what I do when I make Paris records. The music is almost always funk and rock inspired hip-hop and the words always reflect the times. I always reflect the needs for continuing the fight for social justice and for wanting to see us do better.
RAPTALK.NET: Rarely do we get surprises from Paris, but I think your one of the few artists out there that has a fan base who doesn’t want or need any surprises. You give them what they expect of you. It’s always creative and unique in its own way.

There’s no worse feeling than taking another artist’s project that you love and followed there entire career; getting home and they go off and a tandem that is so far removed what you expect that the project falls flat for you. I agree with you that he can still market to his mainstream fans on the westcoast, however, are they even really buying albums anymore? I see so many free downloads on hardcore sites like here (which is great for us fans) that I don't see as many people rushing to the stores anymore like back in the 1990's when artists were going gold and platinum. Warren has the swagger to get on MTV and dance around with Justin Timberlake (shit, he was on MTV Celebrity Rap Superstar and people were loving him like it was 1990). I mean, look at all the hits he has from "I Shot The Sherriff" to "Relax Ya Mind" to "What's Love Got To Do With It," and on and on and on.
However, I don't think even people who are watching MTV are buying as many records anymore. Most of them are products of the IPOD generation and are downloading like everyone else. MTV's ratings have dipped to lows the last 2 years, I mean their main program is "The Hills."
You mentioned $400k for 400,000 indy. He has to pay all his guest appearances and any other co-producers or ghost writers with that lump of cash (if he even makes it on an indy because that's basically no promotion), and he would probably be left with about $200,000 (which is a great wage for any average person).
I think if he could push "Crush" hard and get Dr. Dre on another track with him since the Dre rumors are flying in forums he could sell a ton of 99 cent singles on amazon and youtunes.
My point is that you hit walls in either direction in this rap game in 2008-09. It's difficult to make money any more with any angle. Nobody puts out the $300,000 music video anymore because most people don't watch videos and if they do it's on YouTube. Rotating 3 singles on the radio is not enough anymore because a lot of people rarely or hardly ever listen to the radio anymore.
I would like to see Warren get back in whatever mainstream is left and drop a gem. But it's up to him to decide which direction.

In my opinion Crush has a West Coast feel to it. Does anybody else agree? To me the beat sounds like some shit straight off the 213 album. I know Warren didn't produce on that album but it's comparable to that West Coast sound. I really don't see why you guys are making such a fuss over the track. It does have a little more mainstream content in the lyrics than his usual stuff but you guys are acting like Warren is on some Soulja Boy shit. Discuss.
