DJ Quik is bringing back his popular jam session style concert series, Quik's Groove, to the House of Blues in Los Angeles located on the Sunset Strip. The first concert of the series will begin tonight. Quik's Groove combines the elements of hip-hop, R&B, jazz & funk against a back drop of live music.
“This is my own musical playhouse.”, says DJ Quik. “Quiks Grooves are special to me because they are not your typical DJ Quik show. Quik's Groove give me a chance to be a fan of music again and invite out artists that I have admired and BlaQKout with them under the appreciation of musicianship and artistry. You will never see the same show twice and you never know who might show up. The new partnership with the House of Blues on the legendary Sunset Strip is sure to make each night one to remember.”
Last year, Quik's Groove sold out Los Angeles’ own Key Club, as well as The Grove in Anaheim where Quik performed with a live symphony. Guests from past Quik's Grooves' include an array of hip-hop and R&B stars, including Xzibit, Ricky Bell (Bell Biv Devoe), Lady of Rage, Kurupt, Yo Yo, Jay Rock, Murs, Truth Hurts, Problem, Latoiya Williams, Dogg Pound and Raekwon. Quik's Groove and the House of Blues plan to announce new and exciting special guests to join the line up for tonight's event.
In related news, Dubcnn will have some exclusive video footage from DJ Quik. Check back next week for all the goodies!

Its times like these i would kill to live in LA for just 1 nite
-
sounds neato
-
see yall there. smokin big at the da house of blues 2nite.
-
Any chance of putting up pics from the night? Like Paul said too, I'd kill to live in LA just for 1 night in times like this. Rhythm-alism was one of his best albums (despite the gay blue/pink looking 80's pop retro cover lol) and would love to hear it in 2009
-

Just Got home,
The show ended around 2:10 or so,
it was a pretty long show..
1500 or nuthin were up there doin theyre thang
on the 1st set..
after theyre 2nd set.. where
uncle chucc and j black did theyre stuff to with 1500
the curtains closed up.. and the wait for Quik began..
then after waiting a bit You hear An introduction for DJ Quik
in a Crazy ass Robotic voice which reminded me of that old skool music
voice style, it wasnt talk box nor autotune..
but yeah finally the curtains opened up the band was set
Battlecat was DJ'ing Terrace was the one doing the robotic
and the band just played a smooth as intro.. all i remember was
terrace continualy saying DJ Quik.. shit sounded nice though..
Finally Quik Came out and from what i remember i think he started out with
We Still Party" then followed with some other tracks then introduced
Domino, where he played Ghetto Jam" and sweet potato pie.. and after that played a smooth
track called "All i do" Quik performed it with him.. Nice track i tell you!!!!!!
and from what they said domino said he has an album comin with DJ Quik..
We'll see..
Then from there.. Quik performed a few more tracks and i remember Dwayne Wiggins from toni tony tone
and played some of hits.. and then I remeber Quik Bringin out this dude, called "Trevor Wesley"
not many guests tonight..
But the show was bad ass.. and after chopped it up with quik a bit..
and he was tellin me bout his new album
and he is gettin along 2nd II None..
But never again with AMG lol and he said "I cannot work wit dat" haha
