it seems like the multiplayer is a complete flop, if you look at the high sales of GTA IV :-\
-
Games old now, and it's a tough market to crack with PC, haven't played MP on PS3 in ages............plenty of people on last time I played.
-
what about Battlefield 2?
i haven't played it a few years, but i'm sure it's still popular
-
for the record, GTA IV is still selling very well, so that's not the problem.
note that there are no expansion packs for GTA IV PC either, so it's not like gamers moved on to the latest thing.
i can only think of two things that have a negative influence on the amount of players:
-no proper anti-cheat protection
-no dedicated server support

I still can't believe they release games like that. Dedicated Servers, I can see (I hate it btw) but NO ANTI-CHEAT. lol Seriously How can anyone actually believe that's a good idea??? "You know I trust the gamers won't ever hack into our games" lol That's the only thing I can think of for not including it. lmao

why do you hate dedicated servers?
thanks to dedicated servers, people don't have to run a certain game to host a server for it.
no proper anti-cheat is definitely the worst flaw though: it's not just cheaters pissing the others off, there are also people with modified cars: this causes other players to crash to desktop ::)

I stick to SA-MP, at least that has regulations.

are there many players?
what about the synchronisation, has it improved a lot since the last few releases?

There was a few last time I played. Right now, they are working on merging San Andreas together with Vice City and Liberty City. The speeds aren't bad, but it's ping based.

ok, but do the animations look natural with low pings?
