Social gaming giant Zynga Inc. has announced its first ever musical partnership with producer Dr. Dre, to promote his highly anticipated album, Detox.
Starting today, Zynga will start promoting Dr. Dre's album Detox to their 200 million plus users, through the popular social networking game Mafia Wars.
Mafia Wars will feature Dr. Dre inspired game experience with music content and limited edition virtual goods within a portion of the game titled "Hustlin' wit Dre."
Fans can collect Dr. Dre themed cars, headphones an weapons. Additionally Dr. Dre will deliver messages only available within the Mafia Wars game.
“We felt it was a perfect fit for Dre to be the first musical experience for the millions of Mafia Wars players to enjoy while gaming,” Interscope's CEO Jimmy Iovine told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “We’re always looking for innovative and interesting ways for fans to discover great music and with an artist of Dre’s cultural significance we really wanted something special that’s never been done before,” said Jimmy Iovine, Chairman, Interscope Geffen A&M Records. “We felt it was a perfect fit for Dre to be the first musical experience for the millions of Mafia Wars players to enjoy while gaming.”
The official partnership with Dr. Dre comes on the heels of a promotion with one of Dre's discoveries, superstar rapper Snoop Dogg. In August, Snoop Dogg and Zynga blew up a 4-ton armored truck, to mark Mafia Wars reaching 10 million visitors in two weeks.
“Dre is a cultural icon that has inspired generations of music lovers,” said Mark Pincus, CEO and founder of Zynga. “We're huge music fans at Zynga and we know the players within Mafia Wars will love the chance to discover incredible music content while playing with their friends.”

except no music :-\
smh at all this hype and promotion when all we've gotten is one single. He should be flooding the market with Dre-related music.

I hate that game, like all other facebook apps.

Yeah it's a shame that Dre wants to promote his record. Why waste time promoting something you've spend years and millions of dollars creating. Only fags promote their music and try to get people to buy it.

Still waiting for that Aftermath Cognac. I reckon "detox" would be the illest name for a spirit though
-
good marketing.
Mafia Wars is legitimate as an everyday-thing for a majortiy of the new generation - and of course, thats the market for every succes-seeking business in the 2k.
-
On the Mafia Wars fan page it says Detox is comin' out early 2011. Is this official word from Interscope?

Vito Iragorri was just taliking on KMEL radio in Northern Cali and said a few things about Detox .The DJ's were all over his ass about Dre's album , but he deflected most details . He did , however , say a few things about the potential tracklisting of Detox ...He said that the tracklisting is selected and the album is almost done as far as mixing ..The cover is neon green and black ( funny how that is opposite of the 2001 album ). Xzibit , Ice Cube , and Nas made the final cut , but many more features from the east are on there as well .So that means Jigga and Beyonce , I bet ..East Coast repped strongly on this album , GUARANTEED . He also said February was just a rumor as far as a release date goes.. VITO

LOL, now you guys are bitching over how he promotes his album.
Can somebody just make a "Let's face it, we're all going to hate on Detox regardless of how it sounds. We will find something to talk shit about." thread?
