The Chicago Bulls has secured their future with signing Derrick Rose to a $95 million max deal over a five year period starting next year.
"It's something big," Rose said without confirming the announcement. "I'm going to talk about it more with my family there. I don't think about money. The Bulls show they trust me. I just feel blessed."
LOL @ "I don't think about money"

Durant must be pissed. Being a better player and getting about 10 million less for 5 years... solely because of the new CBA.
-
Derrick Rose can thank the NBA's new collective bargaining agreement for his new five-year, $94.8 million extension with the Chicago Bulls.
The new CBA included a clause to boost the salaries of the league's best young players. That clause is called, fittingly, "The Derrick Rose Rule."
The rule calls for players that have completed four years in the league, and who meet specific criteria, to be eligible for the same maximum salary as a player that has been in the NBA for seven years (30% of the salary cap). Rose was eligible due to his 2010-11 MVP award.
But while the rule is named for Rose, he was not the first recipient. That title goes to Kevin Durant, who was eligible as a two-time All-NBA selection.
Durant signed his extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder in July, prior to the new CBA, calling for him to make the maximum allowable. But as Larry Coon of ESPN.com reports, the NBA ruled that The Derrick Rose Rule can be applied to Durant retroactively.
That means Durant's 2011-12 salary jumps from $12.9 million to $15.5 million. And the total value of his deal goes from $74.3 million to $89.2 million.

^Oh, good thing Durant gets his due. And yes, I'd take a taller player always over an undersized one unless the smaller one is simply better which Rose isn't. Both are scorers first, and Durant is a much better shooter.

Imho they are almost @ the same level.
p.s. there isn't so much different between $89.2 million and $94.8....

The point is that Durant originally had $74.3, only because he signed his contract a few months earlier. Would you agree that 20 million is a difference? It had to be a slap in the face for him. They decided to apply the new rules to his already signed contract, even though they really didn't have to.

Durant doesn't have the same explosiveness or passing but i'd take him over Rose any day, his scoring is already is unstoppable and he's still wiry as fuck, he's only gonna get better.

i dont get it...wasnt the old CBA better for players? how can Durant have signed a 12 mill per year deal with the old CBA when players like Kobe, LeBron, Wade, etc. were making 20 mill+ per year under the same CBA? weird.

The old CBA was better for whack MLE-type of players. The new one is better for absolute superstars. Kobe is only making so much money cause he stood with the Lakers his whole career, and signed a plain max contract throughout his 18th season. LeBron and Wade actually never made 20 mil per season in their lives, and are now totally underpaid at 16 mil.
With your first real contract under the new CBA you can start at 30% of the cap when you are a multiple All-Star or MVP. It used to be 25%. Also, your money can go up 2.5 mil per year, it used to be way less. That is way Dwight and Deron will opt out by any means.
Overall the new CBA is much better for players than advertised. I never understood why the media would flip it like the cotton-picking players had been raped by a bunch of masas.

i just remember how players were so eager to sign deals last season, mostly due to the fact that they were tryna make more money than they'd be able to with the new cba. guess the new cba aint that bad after all.

durant needs to build his frame up a little bit to be at his maximum potential.

One industry source insisted to ESPN.com this week that Rose's new shoe deal with adidas will easily crack nine figures and could legitimately approach the $250 million range -- as in $25 million annually over a 10-year span -- in what is known in the shoe game as a "lifetime" deal.
The nigga gets paid like crazy. Too much for him in my opinion. I didn't even realize Adidas had that much money to throw around. Nigga lacks the charisma to be this marketable. Even LeBron only got like 90 mil, Durant like 75. Rose 250? What the fuck.

that is pretty fuckin ridiculous.....and yea, adidas is probably as big, if not bigger than nike, considering soccer is a much bigger sport than basketball worldwide.
-
Rose is the best pg in the league Durant is the second best at his position, plus he doesn't defend and doesn't take his opponent down in the post like rose. So I'd take rose over kd. They both will be vying for MVP for years to come yell
-
^I prefer PGs like Chris Paul, Deron Williams (when motivated and on a good team, how he plays on the Nets is no indication), Steve Nash and Jason Kidd (in their primes)... Rose is good as hell, but more like an undersized SG who can pass... he's like Westbrook with a brain and good character. Him and a player like Kobe can't co-exist. Durant and Westbrook only kinda work out cause Durant is a pussy/good guy. Kobe would have forced his GM/owner to trade Westbrook, Jordan would have stolen the ball from him while telling his teammates to never give him a pass.

the nene's $67 million contract with the nuggets is ridiculous

No shit. He's a good player, and teams need good big men, but 67 mill for that dude is crazy.

I dono man, Rose has some crazy athleticism and I can't completely disagree with what you're saying, but I'd still take Durant over him any day. Given KD's shooting stroke and ability to get to the basket I see him being a guy that could drop 60 some day, can't really say the same about Rose, as great as he is. Their career highs are pretty close now, but I'll take KD's unstoppable shot over Rose's freaksih athleticism. Plus, his body is still filling out, so he's only gonna get better at defense/rebounding as the years go by.

He's a very legit center tho. They get overpaid all the time. In fact, any legit center who doesn't get overpaid at least for one contract in his career has had a terrible agent or other priorities. Look at how the did the nigga Chandler. Or how they did the nigga DeAndre Jordan. Or even how they did Kwame.
