settle a debate i'm having with my cousin: at any point in his career, was Grant Hill a Top 5 NBA player? (Best year was 99/00, 2nd team NBA...I say no)
-

i really don remember how he was playing, but i don't remember him being as dominant as shaq, kobe, t-mac, AI, KG and such

t-mac wasnt nearly as good as grant hill in 99-00. hill was pretty much on the same level as AI and garnett back then.

I remember Hill being pretty damn dope in his prime
-
If you were old enough to actually see and remember him in his prime, there would be no question, yes he was top 5.
Injuries derailed him though. Cool to see him still at it tho.
-
yes for a small window of time

I always thought Grant Hill (in his prime) was a very good player but just not the superstar caliber player on the level of other greats. I wouldnt consider him a top5 player at any point in his career. Maybe only for one year in 99/00. I think he was really overhyped coming out of Duke as the "next" big thing and IMO never lived up to the hype.
-
I think the injuries are why you feel that way tho. Yes IMO he was top 5 in his prime. He was the first guy people were comparin to MJ right before Kobes rise. IMO He was kinda like a mix between MJ n Lebron. MJs midrange jumper n defensive skill with lebrons height, passing, and rebounding. Damn shame what injuries did to him.
I remember hearing a story back when his knees started fuckin up that when Detroit realized he wasnt stayin, the athletic trainers there purposefully lied to him about his knees and instead of waitin for him to fully rehabilitate cleared him to play which caused all his long term knee issues. Fucked up if its true. But he would have been great Im sure. Theres a reason people were hyped about him n TMac in Orlando. If they both played together healthy Orlando probably woulda had at least one championship.

26 PPG, 7 RPG, 5 APG on 49% FG, 35% 3FG, and 80% FT.....that is superstar quality. he wasn't overhyped. if his career wouldn't have been hindered by injuries, he woulda lived up to the hype and then some.

In his prime, Grant Hill was the best small forward in the league alongside Scottie Pippen. To me, he was more of a "Magic Johnson" type of player, but yeah - they were comparing him to Michael a lot, saying he's "the next big thing" for the NBA. Shame all the injuries stopped him taking his game to next level... still a top 5 NBA player in the late 90's tho.

If you had your own shoes back in the 90s, you were a superstar, lol.

Lebron puts up similar stats and you hate his guts
wonder whats goin on here?

Lebron is the best player in the league, but until he can get clutch and finish important games none of that shit matters...
