Title: Odd Future, Tyler The Creator, The Internet?
Post by: Si-Chiggedy on April 08, 2012, 12:38:34 PM
Hey guys!
A friend of mine showed me some song of Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All yesterday which were crazy as fuck. Today I just checked their wikipeida page and recognized they're from Los Angeles. And at least Tyler The Creator seems to be rather famous, how come I've never seen any thread about them on this forum? I think when it comes to crazy, ignorant, psycho shit with modern, bassy beats, this group is the one to go with. Also I checked two songs of The Internet - a side project of OFWGKTA and they're very smooth.

The Internet - Fastlane
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TEy1EitSDs&feature=autoplay&list=UUvvMe-A4FbvtMk-V_vE9PpQ&lf=plcp&playnext=1&video=unblocked

Odd Future - Rella (one of the craziest and dopest videos I've ever seen)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fN-xq7t6pKw&feature=BFa&list=UUvvMe-A4FbvtMk-V_vE9PpQ&lf=plcp

The Internet - Live It Up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDtZBgOCPY4&feature=BFa&list=UUvvMe-A4FbvtMk-V_vE9PpQ&lf=plcp

So I dunno why I've never read about them on here or why they're never advertised on dubcnn, but to me they belong to this section since they're from L.A....  ??? ??? ???

If it is not from the Nwa/deathrow/dr dre family tree then nobody here cares.

Odd future is dope, breath of fresh air from out here in la.  Earl, domo genesis, hodgy beats and mike g are dope to.

Other acts you might wanna checkout that's pretty nice from la is, Casey veggies, Dom Kennedy and 4en6

I know Dom Kennedy, I got both his albums. is lyrics suck but his ear for beats is amazing. I only know about Casey Veggies from like 2-3 song he was featured on. But I read he was originally also a member of Odd Future. As for the first sentence of your post: Sad but true it seems... :-\

Thing is tho, it seems harder than ever to find new dope artists (like Odd Future) with no radio play, no cds in stores, no billboards, no MTV etc. etc.

The industry is saturated with artists no one is talking about, no conventional promo........that is, YOU need to find artists yourself. Trawl the web, watch 1000's videos on youtube.. Even bands have to promote THEMSELVES with Twitter etc. The industry is fucked in that sense.

I can't turn on the radio and have a rap DJ play me all thats new or cool this week....even they cant manage that

Tyler The Creator has been discussed here many times. It's been a while since he dropped an album though, i guess that's why you don't see threads about him.

Tyler the Creator won a VMA and he just came out on MTV's Punk'd. When Yonkers came out, Power 106 was playing it very often.  Goblin's billboards and ads were everywhere. Personally, Tyler had a lot of potential thanks to Bastard but he blew it all away with the very poor Goblin.

A few people here were stanning that Goblin when it came out, saying it was the album of the year *cough cham*. But it mostly went ignored.

That album had some great tracks, also had some bullshit too. "She" with Frank Ocean was one of the highlights for me, had a dope vibe to it

goblin wasn't as good as bastard but it was a solid effort. the new of tape is decent too but it needed more earl.

earl & domo are my favorite out of OF rapping wise. tyler can have some memorable lines here and there but i like his production better.

The attention Tyler got is the same shit the entire posse got.  If you know who Tyler is, you know Odd Future.

On a related note what was Everyones opinion on the mellowhype album they dropped? Blackendwhite? I felt it was along the same line of goblin, some good tracks but kind of weak overall.

Hodgy did a drop an ep that was really dope though with production from juicy j, alchemist and flying lotus.

You're late to the party!  Funny because I was gonna make this exact thread soon seeing as they are never discussed on this forum save for comments in passing.

I've been listening to OF for the past 6 months or so, went on a binge after I was introduced to them by a friend and downloaded all of their essential shit.  Mike G's album Ali is one of their best albums in terms of production and Earl Sweatshirt's EARL is one of the best albums I've heard in the past few years.  Earl is gonna be huge if he returns to rapping, he's only 18 for god's sake and already has some pretty crazy shit behind him.

Don't forget about The Jet Age of Tommorow either, who released a really great instrumental album called Voyager which has a lot of funk and jazz elements in it.  I think a lot of people on here would like that album.

I'd advise anyone interested to download all of their free stuff (which is most of it) and take a listen.  I guarantee you will find something you like!

There was a rumor going around that Mike G was related to Warren G  You should put that in the topic title to get people interested.

EARL is back from the boarding school his mother forced him to go to by the way guys. This was the reason he hasn't released any music last year and he only just got back in time to drop one verse on the OF Tape 2 (Oldie) but he seems to have improved a lot more lyrically. he is going to be a legend
