Title: Rappin 4 Tay Drake
Post by: KURUPTION-81 on December 31, 2013, 03:47:40 PM
Seems like 4 tay isn't happy with drake using lines from playaz club on that track who do you love with yg.

 New Song w/ @YG
 Feat @Drake
In This Song Drake Copys My Lyrics & Lines From My PlayazClub Song & Pays No Homage! ?? http://t.co/GzzKW6vDfM

— Rappin' 4-Tay (@rappin_4tay) December 31, 2013

so is it paying homage by using the lyrics or just straight up biting from drake.

drake grew up in the 90's, rappin 4 tay was big with playaz club and i'll be around. and Drake is a known bay area rap lover, he shouted out mac dre in several songs.

4 tay's using this to boost his exposure since he's still active, but drake doesn't have to mention 4Tay when quoting his lyrics, they belong to the public domain, it's a nod and 4Tay should appreciate it and leave it a that. just like Freddie Gibbs doesn't have to mention LL when he said "I want girls with extensions in the hair" on Walking in with the M.O. or when Bun B said on get throwed "i came in the door, ii said it before", he didn't have to say "just like rakim said", that'd be ludicrous or when everybody and their mama says "got a knot in my pocket weighing at least a grand"

It's obvious that 4Tay is just using this "controversy" to get a ton of free publicity...it's so obvious that it's funny, in fact.

But on the real, Drake bit half of the nigga's verse - ignorant young fans will think these are Drake's lyrics rather than 4Tay's. A quick "shout out to Rappin 4-Tay" would have made sense if you were gonna rip half the nigga's verse.

it's different when you bite damn near an entire verse though as opposed to just one or two lines

Drake needs to cut that check for 4-Tay

I listened just to hear what he bit off of 4Tay and he bit the hell out of verse/style on this track.  He stole all the swag and forgot the soul.  Fuck Drake.  This kind of music is trash.

If Drake just bit the opening bar, then 4Tay looks like he's trying to get attention. But he bit damn near the whole verse. A clever 4Tay name drop is the difference between paying homage and straight jacking a verse. All he had to say was, Rappin to the hoes, that's my 4Tay.

4-Tay has literally done nothing in the last Decade. Arguably, the last 15 years. While Drake could've dropped his name, it does absolutely nothing because, again, 4-Tay is completely irrelevant. Drake was paying homage by using the Playaz Club verse like that. 4-Tay should've tried to use THAT as leverage for something. A verse from Drake. Something to build off of. Instead, he just comes off as a bitter Rapper.

The moment I heard the 1st line, I knew it that he was using 4-Tay's verse from Playaz Club. Anyone who's heard Playaz Club knew that. That's his fan base. These new kids would not relate to or enjoy his music. Take the promo and move on.

Fuck that bullshit.  $4-Tay is does not come off as a bitter Rapper. 4-Tay is from era where biting is not allowed at all. So 4-Tay comes off like a MC who just his shit bit by a fake ass new schooler . Drake was wrong for It . He should not move on .Someone needs to teach Drakes biting ass a lesson. Why would 4-Tay want a verse from someone so wack . 4-tay does not want to work with Drakes fake ass.

What Drake did was not biting. It was literally paying homage. Drake has done what so many other rappers have done in the past. And if anyone is teaching Drake a lesson, it not a Rapper that has not made something even close to a decent album in 15 years. Why would 4-Tay want a verse from "someone so wack?" Because, at this point, he's wack himself. He is getting attention thanks to "someone so wack" dusting off his record from 1994 and bringing it back to the commercial ears. 4-Tay may not want to work with "Drake's fake ass," yet, he should. He's trying to make money.

Why do you think Wu Tang stood behind Drake after the It's Yours song dropped? They want to stay relevant. 4-Tay, if he wants to actually make some money, should do the same.

I think the point midwestryder is attempting to make (he's slow, cut him some slack) is that 4 Tay doesn't give a fuck about the money/relevancy and just wants credit where it is due… oops that was a Drake line  :-X

I'll agree with the relevancy part, it's obvious by the albums he's putting out. But, I highly doubt 4-Tay does not care about money though.

I'll agree, too, that Drake should've at least dropped 4-Tay's name in the song or even on Twitter, but I don't think Drake thought 4-Tay would be upset over the fact that he paid homage to his song from 20 years ago and didn't say his name.

This shit happens all the time in rap. Sometimes they name drop who's being paid homage to, sometimes not. But not once have I ever felt when rappers borrow lines that its done in disrespect. If anything it's the ultimate form of flattery.

especially when Drake got up front feature money off that verse plus possible royalties once the song is officially released on iTunes/radio and all that…

I'm a big fan of 4-Tay, I mean really, but what Drake did is not "biting", biting is copying a style, a gimmick or stealing song concepts. Drake just took a 4 Tay verse and adapted it, if anything that's a nod to 4Tay, the only thing he was possibly wrong for was not mentioning 4 Tay in anyway, he could have let the fans know even with a pun like "pulling bitches, that is my forté" (dumb example). You had legends and pioneers who have resorted to biting artists worse than that. Listent to Willie D.'s Dear God and tell me he's not biting Pac. (dope song nonetheless)
http://www.youtube.com/v/tRr46LpUyyg

I'm pretty sure 4 Tay just wanted his name mentioned and he's disappointed but he's not mad, his twitter and instagram posts are not really hateful, he's just asking his followers what they think of Drake's not shouting out 4 Tay. and 4 Tay is one of the most positive rappers there are, I'm pretty sure he'd be down to make a song with Drake. people fantasize how some old timers wouldn't supposedly compromise by fucking with more mainstream acts but the truth is that most would jump both feet in.

http://www.youtube.com/v/uU_eamCiZHs

do you consider that biting ?

to me it's a nod to hip hop fans

it was NO promo for 4-tay because nobody besides fans like us no about 4-tay and so they dont know where the verse (lyrics) came from.
if he mentioned 4-tay wit atleast one line, that wouldve been a whole different story.

lol yeah it does sound a bit like face but really it's a complete pac rip off, from the way he stresses the words, the theme of the song, to the words he chooses, when you hear willie spittin "i'm tired of seein' my homies dyin', bullet shells, paramedics & chalklines", it reminded me instantly of So Many Tears "broken hearted as I walk by the chalkline gettin' high", "my attitude",

http://www.youtube.com/v/zDdbn0eTDpA

either way in the 90's there was some biting going on even from legendary figures. Da Brat, Master P, etc.

It was paying homage, your hatred for Drake is not letting you see that. The fact that you believe 4-Tay has made even decent music in the last 15 years disqualifies you from discussing music. You appear to be a 4-Tay fan boy. How much money is 4-Tay really making now?

And you're incorrect about Wu. U-God confirmed some type of Remix of the song that they were asked to do and that they recorded.

i don't think it has anything to do with the subject at hand though.
