Title: Biggie Claimed Some Of Tupac's "Me Against The World" Beats Were His, Easy Mo Be
Post by: CORREA on March 12, 2015, 10:16:44 AM
The Tupac Shakur album turns 20 this week.

On the twentieth anniversary week of Me Against The World, Easy Mo Bee discusses producing songs on the Tupac album.

“We recorded a big batch of songs,” Easy Mo Bee says during an interview with RevoltTV. “He did one of the smartest things in the world to take the ‘Temptations’ and ‘If I Die Tonight’ and put that on Me Against The World. He takes ‘Straight Ballin,’ he throw that on Thug Life album. These are all songs that I did.”

A listening session on the set of Shakur’s film Above The Rim led to the creation of the “Temptations” record.

“I went to Rucker Park where he was filming Above The Rim, went into the trailer,” Easy Mo Bee says. “I played them one joint that I already made. That track ended up being ‘Temptations. And for all the beat makers, all the producers who know…it was ‘Computer Love’ filtered, just the bass frequencies. Then I’m drumming it up on top. Then I’m laying some keys.”

Easy Mo Bee says he first met Shakur in conjunction with a Big Daddy Kane performance held at Madison Square Garden.

“I’m walking in the long hallway and we gettin’ closer,” Easy Mo Bee says. “The closer he got, he pointed, ‘Yo, I was lookin for you.’ I was kinda fresh, new and green in the business. [In] '89 I had just did Kane [produced on Big Daddy Kane's It's A Big Daddy Thing album] after that The Genius [Words From The Genius] album, some remixes in between and then I worked on that Miles Davis [Doo-Bop] album. He had just done the Juice movie.”

Easy Mo Bee describes the exchange as he recalls the encounter.

“I was like, ‘What you want from me?’” Easy Mo Bee says. “[Shakur] said, ‘I like the stuff you did on Big’s album [The Notorious B.I.G.'s Ready To Die]. I love that ‘Party And Bullshit.’ When he said that I was bugging because he’s from the West Coast. They got a whole different vibe.”

The Notorious B.I.G. was reportedly expecting those tracks for himself.

“He stood next to me and said, ‘Mo, you’re wrong. You know you were supposed give me them 'Pac joints,'” Easy says. “[Biggie said], ‘You know nothing gets passed me.'”

In a February interview, Easy Mo Bee discussed being one of the few artists to work with Tupac and Biggie.

“A lot of people have said I was the only one to work with B.I.G. and Tupac while they were alive and that’s partially true,” Easy Mo Bee said at the time. “I’m not sure about any other situations.”

Yes...one more situation showing that Pac was a real one ...

And one more prove that Biggie was a Bitch (Not the Artist, the person Christopher Wallace)

"“He stood next to me and said, ‘Mo, you’re wrong. You know you were supposed give me them 'Pac joints,'” _> JEALOUS ASS GUY.

compare biggie's first album to pac's first album.

both were good albums
but pacs first album some songs lacked better beats maybe the producers should have done a better job sampling the fuck out of better beats

tbh nothin' on ready to die sound like pac shit...pac was just jealous biggie blew up.

It's not even about Ready To Die sounding like 'Pac's shit, he stole concepts. 'Pac had 'If I Die 2Nite', 'Death Around The Corner', etc on Me Against The World and even on THUG LIFE - Volume 1 he had 'Bury Me A G', 'How Long Will They Mourn Me', etc. Now I'm not saying 'Pac was the first because a lot of that came from Scarface, but how would you feel if you talked about something so much and with so much passion for years, to go unnoticed to some extent, and then your understudy jacks your concept and gets so much love from 1 fucking album. Besides, Biggie did all the 'Baby, Baby' ad-libs and jacked the Isley Brothers sample for 'Big Poppa' that 'Pac used for 'Time To Get My Drink On (Interlude)' if you want to talk about actual jacking. There are so many more examples but I cant be bothered to go into it now. I guess rap fans from a certain generation are either 'Pac fans or Biggie fans just like Rolling Stones Vs. The Beatles or Michael Jackson Vs. Prince but Biggie's actions are something I cannot relate to because he was a fucking snake.
And 'Pac is getting hated on in this thread because Biggie said to Easy Mo Bee that he shouldn't have given 'Pac those beats?!?
What part of the game is that? Exactly like I said, Biggie was never 'Pac's friend because a real friend would never say some stupid shit like that.

That's another interesting point -- obviously Biggie didn't grow up in a great area, but he actually had a lot, compared to a lot of his peers.  I don't remember if it was from the VIBE biography or from the Bigger Than Life documentary, but it was said that Big's mom spoiled him, bought him a lot of toys, took him to trips to Jamaica, etc. -- far more than what a lot of other people were getting in their neighborhood.  Unlike Pac, he had opportunity for a good education, but he didn't care about going to school (and we're not talking about public school either -- remember there were pics of a young Big dressed up really nice for school, probably private school), and his mom actually had a good amount of money saved for him to go to college, but she had to use it for his bail.

Obviously it doesn't take away from either the fact that he actually did sell work or that he had some really nice emcee skills.  But usually when rappers talk about hardships, that's usually something that people tend to take more literally than shooting people.  For example, when Ghostface rapped All That I Got Is You, a lot of that was true, talking about all of the hardships he faced growing up poor -- sugar water in cereal, roach-infested apartments filled with family members sharing a bed Charlie Bucket family style, sharing clothes with siblings.  Those are the things that really touch people, particularly when street rappers put their guards down and just talk about topics close to home like that.  It's one thing when people exaggerate how much of a bad ass they are, but when talking about everyday struggles... personally I expect a little more honesty there, and not just in hip-hop either.

biggie blew up mostly cause pac put him on his NYC shows and added the fat fuck to thug life temporarily, once he saw how fake big was with his alliance to puff he was quietly outta thug life but once pac fans accepted biggie then biggie blew up faster & like hack said only wannabe pac southern rappers that make rollerblading movies are extremely jealous of pac's sucess not neccesarily pac but his sucess  ;) the only exception of course is the REAL KING OF THE SOUTH SCARFACE  ;D

I'm sure biggie grew up in good conditions but that don't mean that in his teens he didn't hit the block and go through some shit....I'm sure he was rougher around the edges at 17 than tupac was for damn sure.

Lol@the comments in this thread, good shit my ficcaz..

Pacs first album really isn't that dope to me, bigs first was better than pacs first.  But other than that Pac wwins every other argument in this thread, hands down.

And btw, there was no filler in albums 3-5 for Pac... Big was a great rapper but Pac was a legend

theyre both legends...pac was better, of course. but to say biggie aint a legend would be a stretch.

This track was suppose to be on Thug Life. It's on the original track listing. 'Pac help put Biggie on the scene. Biggie was not officially part of the group, he was listed as a feature. But no question 'Pac helped get Biggie heard.

As for Moe B, man, Biggie wanted some of those beats Moe B gave them to 'Pac and it's as simple as that. In those days, that shit happened all the time once you started getting superstar producers. It was the beginning of the era when you had people buying beats from certain producers, as before that 'Pac got all his beats from Digital Underground's in house producers, Death Row had Dr. Dre and their producers, Bad Boy had theirs, Wu Tang had RZA. Around 1994 you started getting producers working with others, like the Illmatic album, Ready to Die had a track from New York's hottest producers, Me Against the World and All Eyez On Me had tracks from everyone, basically around 1994 you started seeing producers work with everyone and have ready to go tracks. And sometimes if they gave a rapper a track, and that rapper didn't do anything with it, they gave it to another rappers. Whole beefs started over this. It just was man. But 'Pac claimed that he heard Ready to Die and it was what Me Against the World was suppose to be, so he changed up the style. And Me Against the World was a different from what he did before. Before, 'Pac had harder beats, but Me Against the World was softer and it really flowed well. It was the first album I heard from 'Pac that was refined, and felt like an album.

Ready 2 die is more comparable to me against the world beatwise and at the end of the day me against the world has better replay value.
