My thoughts over all: I appreciate the new music , I will take that over no music 🎼 n especially when in regards to my favorite artists like Dre. Obviously this not an album , I see the releases as harmless and a "just put some shit out" opportunity. I will say I feel the energy of fun and passion as it appears Dre has found some new inspiration from his negative situations recently and spent more time freely doing what he loves . My thoughts on the tracks : they are all solid beats and songs with lyrics overall are also solid, Dre's deliveries are predictable but are solid lines , however there is nothing that is outstandingly memorable on any tracks , they are all 7-8/10 but that's cool with me. Best track is probably Gospel or Eta of the bunch.

I haven't heard of a method of release yet but I'm assuming that this will come out it's just a digital format and release again this kind of takes the pressure off Dre by making it just a video game soundtrack you know… And if the feedback is good it will lead to an album

Diamond mind: Based on the YouTube rip it really sounds unfinished, curious if the beat still sounds simple when a better version drops. I like those background sounds - choir type a things you hear though
Fallin up: boring ass hook and start of the track, sounds forced. Strong first verse though delivery wise. Who is the girl we hear? The beat in uninspired although I like the pianos I hear in the background
Black privilege: lyrical maybe interesting but not what I was dying to hear from him. I miss those special type of beats, grown up vibe though, maybe I expect the wrong things from him.
Scenic route: I really never wanted to hear Ross on a dre track. This is good for a Ross album ‘cause the whole vibe is Ross not Dre. Not a bad track for a Ross album. I like Paak but hope he won’t be on 40% of the upcoming dre tracks.

Yeah this was really interested... and I’m a pretty hardcore ol school gamer but I’m not up on any of the new shit so someone would have to fill me in??
Is it profitable?? Like is Dre making a grip off of this?? Could this be like a bigger lick than releasing the Compton album financially??
I do think it’s a great and exciting way for him to release new music because it had that sort of cross pollination with the gaming and digital world so it comes off real futuristic and makes Dre look cutting edge and the images and sounds from the game fit his style of music
As for the music itself it’s fuckin sick!!! Like all of Dre’s shit it’s dope!! Im not ready to say it’s classic though or better than Compton that’s taking it too far... but upon first listen shit is hott!! But only on the level of his unreleased Compton material/leaks from Compton sessions — reminds me of that he’s still on the same wavelength

So we were guessing that this was going to be a full soundtrack, but those are just demos. Exactly what GTA promised us...
This sucks, but it's better than nothing. It's dre testing the waters.
My opinions on those tracks:
1. Black Privilege - It's cool. I thought the beat was going to switch up, but it never did. For me it got a little boring before the end. Still good tho. (4/5)
2. ETA - So we basically heard the whole track already? xD I like this too. At first I thought that snoop sounded a bit weak. But maybe I was just hearing things? (4/5)
3. Fallin up - dope track. (4.5/5)
4. Gospel - This is one of them tracks where you can really tell that it's not...quite finished. Dre's verse is.. kinda good but there are some moments here that sound rough.
- I fuck with the hook. I bet many people will hate on it but it's something different.
- I got a problem with Em's voice nowadays and I don't know what it is. The more I listen to this track the more I start to like his verse though.
I think I give this a (3.5/5)
5. Diamond Mind - A little boring. Not bad though. (3.5/5)
6. Scenic Route - The "Fantasy"-song came out? Cool track. I like how Ross and Dre go back and forth. (4/5)

This EP is much better than I expected. No idea why my expectations were low, but I love the new direction.
Random thoughts:
1. Would love to hear all of the tracks in high quality, for them to sound this good as is, I can't wait to hear the CDQ.
2. Anderson Paak and Dre have great chemistry. Paak is the rare singer that can hold his own rapping. Would love to hear the two collaborate more.
3. Fallin' is a hit with proper promotion. I know that Game is on the hook, did he write the song? Cocoa Sarai(sp?) kills the hook
4. Busta Rhymes is at his best with Dre. Made me want to listen to The Big Bang again.
5. Snoop (see #4) sucks that he doesn't work more with Dre.
6. Scenic Route - Rick Ross is not my favorite artist, but he has great chemistry with Dre on this track. Cool to see Bruno Mars working with Dre.
7. Did Jay-Z write Black Privilege? Nice lyrics
8. Loved The Gospel track. Dre has a cool flow and Eminem destroys the track. Those two need to make more music together.
9. Ty Dolla Sign kills his feature. Dre needs to lock Ty in the studio and utilize him like he did Nate Dogg.
10. D.O.C. sounds great. I thought it was Cee Lo at first, but D.O.C. has a lane to record more music with some creativity. Wonder how much of the lyrics he wrote on the EP.
11. The hook on the Gospel sounds like it was written by someone like Quavo or Cordae.

Only heard it 4-5 times, but I love the direction and think it is better than Compton.

Played the first leg of The Contract and heard the first song with Eminem... holy shit, that beat. As I approached the penthouse in the mission, it was just the instrumental. As I got closer to the door, I kept thinking "damn, that beat sounds hard" - and it grew louder and louder until it sounded like the music was going to blow the door wide open when I got there. I entered the penthouse and the music just consumes you - you can't hear shit except the music - and then Dre starts rapping. It was fucking GOLDEN. Anyone with a decent audio setup playing this game got to hear very decent song quality. It was great.

Probably already been posted but these little video game movie style clips they are very well done!! Got DJ Pooh up in there, and Jimmy Irvine as like a George Constanza type of character.. it’s so well done and written Im thinking maybe Pooh might have been a writer on this and goes great with the music...
I’m not a gamer so I’m still not sure how this all works and how it works financially but I can say I’m seeing the Dre gold standard of quality on all of this. These new tracks are solid!!!

I’m not a gamer so I was wondering how it works on that end and it sounds dope as fucc... these are probably dumb questions but is it an entire game you purchase for like $50 with Dre on the cover and his game so it probably sells millions of copies so it would be like him going double platinum or something cause he has to split it with the people making the actual game...

Beats by Dre to garbage by Dre recently but I feel like that’s maybe harsh on this since it’s just a bunch of tracks probably just put together for this gta thing
ETA feels dope - I hear some comments about this new music Dre coming up with is grown man music LOL Dre 56 years old - chronic 2001 was revolutionary grown man music as was much of the music he made after that for a short period of time - anyway I like this, it does feel like “grown man” shit I guess - seems to be the most polished track from the six I heard - solid 4/5 even by Dre standards l, nothing about it is extraordinary but it all sounds organic
Falling up - shit sounds dated IMO - beat reminds me of what dr did for jay-s trouble but I liked that and I like this beat too and Dre sounds very good on this - hook is terrible as is the way the track kicks in, could have had some work done on it , doesn’t feel like a leftover but not something that would ever make a Dre album either l, put together joint 3.5/5
Gospel - sounds incomplete but okay - beat is decent, Dre sound good and so does Eminem - I like the comments Dre be dropping in about his life in his music from time to time, “looking for my next gold digger” or something of the sort made me laugh - felt there were moments in the beat were the change up or progression felt very Dre-ish too as opposed to just touching up and mixing - 3.5/5
The other three felt like trash to me but I’ve only heard it all once so far - with a title like black privilege I was hoping for some epic shit lol anything but

I'm not able to play the gta missions so I don't know if they got more bass or so. But other than that they sound good.

Folks want to complain about shitty rips and all....check right now the tracks aren't generally available unless you buy the game and I ain't buying the game so until they do get released officially I ain't gonna chance it and I'm downloading these rips so I could get some of that Dr. Dre musical nectar before the place gets flooded with DMCA notices from the rights holders....

To be honest: no. Every person who owns gta 5 got this dre mission and the music for free. I think dre only got paid by rockstar games for his appearance.
If this ep doesn't come out for purchase or streaming, dre won't make any money off of it.

sounds big, epic. inb4 someone says stuck in the past Dre can't keep doing the same piano sound. well duh he can do something new & evolved just as long as it's good. i fear he's changed his musicians, engineers & everything that made his music great in the past and it's a bunch of yes men if this GTA music if anything to go by. Compton was the first sign things were going south and this isn't a noticable step up.

the problem is he's putting out relative leftovers, so it's a self-fulfilling prophecy if there's any chance for doubt.
whereas if he put out some of the real fire (presuming it actually exists) in proper quality (something is off with these, to do with the game encoding most likely) there might be a lot more excitment. i'm sure he could care less about a few people on dubcc, the majority think it's amazing but we get a full album like this and when the dust settles it'll just be seen as another Compton, maybe only slighly better. smh @ Rick Ross.

I've never had a problem with Dre as a vocalist, but back in the day you would never had said, as you do now, that Dre is better as a rapper than as a producer.

Dre has been writing his own raps since 05 for detox, it's just most his best verses are written by actual lyricists. He started writing more on his own since he got rid of his old detox team of writers and none of these new guys are any good or understand dre as a artist so they write the wrong type of stuff for him.

One question I've never got an answer to is for one 100% confirmed full verse written by Dre. I don't mean that he guided his writers through it and fed them rhymes; I mean a hot 16 that is confirmed Dre with no co-conspirators.

I don't think it's an official release! Normally it is released under Rockstar Games, in this case GTA Online and the artist is also called GTA Online! All official releases from the game or radio stations are available as singles or from an Album under the artist name in this case not! And you really think they release it in this form, low quality.......

that's true with all Dre mixes (emphasis on vocals) but there's aways a good balance with the mids and instrumentation. listen to 'Diamond Life' and tell me the vocals don't sound overly shrill with the instruments barely audible in the background. the drums don't even knock at the top, that beat should sound big and it's really unbalanced.
i'll listen to the full uncompressed before commenting any more but you guys know i have at least half-decent ears, got some proper speakers now as well.
hell just listen to Oxnard, pristine as anything. i refuse to believe Dre's sound just fell apart for this EP, has to be an issue in the conversion or a deliberate choice to push the vocals way further forward than usual.

That's what I thought from very beginning - I hope Dre is just warming up and he will kill us with something next year but I'm afraid I have high hopes for that. Being part of a game is a new step in his career. He can afford to experiment with his music life and he has nothing to prove as a producer (GOAT).

The problem is that back in the day there were no tools and the music was great. Now we have tools and music is mostly low quality trash. Sad but true. I was born in early 80's and maybe I'm too nostaligic but hip hop from every corner of the world (especially USA) had soul during my growing up times.

I've downloaded about 7 different versions of this EP and none sound 100% right. Not even the links labeled "Remastered" sound like they're mixed properly & the closest I've found seems to be a fan remastered version which I think was posted in here.
Makes sense that the quality is so bad as it's ripped from the game and if they are supposed to be demo's in game hopefully the rumors are correct and Dre is going to release a new album with the final version of these track.

It was released under GTA Online and not under Rockstar Games (All Soundtracks are released under Rockstar Games https://music.apple.com/us/curator/rockstar-games/1161935873) on the 24. Dec thats Chistmas, Rockstar would have at least mentioned that like we updated The Radiostations or something like that, i mean its CHristmas the ruble is rolling...
Maybe someone from the GTA or Rockstargame upload the wrong files, but i don't think so, but when they put out Music exclusive from the Game, and new Music by Dr. Dre they have mentioned it too

It was uploaded by the fan. Rockstar has noting to do with it. This songs will never be released because that was the idea of GTA mission. Find the phone because it contains songs not meant to be released. Unmastered demo versions.

yeah, iTunes Spotify and co must also have a system something like Soundcloud, for example you load. up a beat of yours, but the system says there are samples or sometimes just drums, that is not possible, you have no rights to do so!

This is doubly so once they found out that the songs leaked and got added to Spotify. You would think they would have gone into damage control mode immediately and explained to everyone that the songs are intentionally unpolished. So regardless of whether they are reverse engineering an explanation or actually telling the truth, either way it seems as if everybody involved got caught flat-footed about all this.

Gospel music - the beat is dope, Dre verse is ok but he’s not there to “kill” it, if let’s say offset or 21 was on that Dre part they would kill it (yea I can mention them when you have a weak ass rick ross verse over there) Eminem sound like a relapse garbage flow like why you bring this flow again ? Ok we can understand you better than 2005-2009 era but damn this flow is wack!
ETA - beat is nice fuck Anderson pakk for ruin another track and snoop ? I hate to admit it but snoop just straight up kill it!!! - when I’m listening to him on this track It remains me his flow from his old 2003 mixtape track with badazz - all I want. Snoop is shining over there and have the best moments of all the e.p
All other tracks - for real bullshit I’m not going to play them again the nipsey track sound so forced and I didn’t like it and of course cut mr Anderson pakk he keep ruin every track with his voice it feels like he cries for real
Now one last and most important thing - Dre needs to start using 808’s drums and bass and start progress. like back in the day when he change the game this days the game has changed and Dre has nothing to do with it so why not changing the drums and bass and bring your own touch on the 808’s ?

Dre mixed the tracks in raw condition, they are mastered by others who are responsible for the sound state, including even Bernie Grundman mastering, so there are enough people stretch it notices that a filter is missing before it goes out

Because it was supposed to be a part of the games storyline. You play different missions and retrieve Dre’s phones to get different songs. It would have defeated the whole purpose of the game to put the tracks out simultaneously. Now that the game has had a chance to breathe and with the Super Ball coming up it makes sense to release them to the rest of the public

when it comes to Sly, finally he is becoming smth, actually he began his carreer with a bad choice and it was imitating Nate Dogg... then he started to ghostwrite Dre's verses for a while and people were not satisfied with Dre's new style of rap and lyrics... but finally on last 2 eminem albums (mtbmb and mtbmb side b) he did good jobs, both on songwriting and singing... i was thinking he was overrated but i think he prooved himself finally and maybe ready to come out as a new aftermath artist.

Also, the first thing I thought of when I heard the beginning of Gospel was that the beat sounds really similar to the last track on ScHoolboy Q's Blank Face album, Tookie Knows I think its called.

Something really annoying about the release of these tracks is that for some reason, Dre's marketing team -without explanation - decided not to make Gospel available for sale in hi-res while all the others are. That seems really incoherently dumb.

GOSPEL was a mess especially Dre's verse it wasn't consistent and just seemed very all over the place. Im not sure what it is Dre is trying to do but I am for one very surprised he allowed himself to drop this with his reputation of a Perfectionist.

That was the concept and idea of this "project" - unfinished, unpolished songs from Dre's stolen phone.

Looking back at all of this: it took some months until Dre released those songs officially. And even then, he didn't post them on his social media.
So I'm here, wondering what was the point of his gta appearance? Because it was fun? To get people to remember him again ?

Dre canned the Contract project half way through because someone stole his thunder, jacked his idea and did it better than him with more press. The public parts that were already in motion like the SB show had to be honored but what was in his control for this marketing campaign was finished months ago when he heard his concept had been flipped and he didn't want to seem like a biter/release another flop as he had no buzz.
The response to Contract didn't come anywhere near his expectations. Just like Detox was ready 10 years when he dropped Kush as a "leak" to test the waters but he scrapped that as well when it didn't go anywhere near the top 10 as he went looking for new ideas and here we are.
