Paparazzi, was a major hit in Europe, Germany. They still play that song on the radio today!
-
Dre got, still DRE, california love, no diggity, next episode, … Game realy Only got “hate it or love it” and everybody thinks thats a 50 cent song.

it depends on how you define and "mc".
if you call mc'ing to perform live and entertain people on stage with rapping, dr. dre is a better mc than any other mc's to me.
-
Is Dre really from Compton? Serious question.
I was thinking about Xzibit the other day. Michael Jordan just won his anti trust lawsuit with NASCAR, Ice Cube was talking doing one against the NBA, Drake sued UMG. What happened to Xzibit suing Viacom?

an emcee in hip-hop is more about lyrical ability and creative dexterity on the mic
dr dre is not really known as an emcee
-
I would say Dre sounds better than Game when rapping. Is that called Mic presence? always sounded the best in my opinion

yes.. mic presence, cadence, voice .. dre has the edge
-
Dre is way better than game (well at least prior to Compton). It's not even close.
-

Dre has one of the best voices in hip hop

Actually I was thinking the same thing when Game said he was the best in Compton—but I thought I’d get blasted for saying so on here. Imagine if all the lyrics we heard from Dre over the years were actually his own, then I would have him in my top 10 rappers for sure
-
Dre had everything you want in a rapper voice, delivery, flow...the only thing is he didn't write his lyrics but that has nothing to do with actual rapping...I mean Snoop didn't write a lot of his lyrics either
Prime Dre and Snoop were the GOAT duo
-

defination of an emcee is very confusing. some says its more about lyrical ability and wordplays like you say, some says its about live performance and being an entertainer on stage.
for example krs one describes it as an Emcee is to host the show as a Master of the Ceremonies.
according to Krs One, dre beats every other fucking rapper when it comes to being a master of ceremonies on stage.
as a lyricist i can say Game is better than dre.

Unpopular opinion but personally I prefer The Game as a rapper compared to Dr. Dre.
That’s not to say I don’t think Dre is a good rapper and I still listen to his music all the time, but The Game is a more natural rapper and can come with different flows and cadences from time to time compared to Dre who when he’s not rapping like he normally does puts on that forced Kendrick Lamar-like voice and flow which I’m not a fan of at all.

it's not really confusing bruh, those within the culture generally understand the difference between rapper and emcee

here is krs talking more about emcee vs rapper:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/liDA0_IWLoY
the literal definition is master of ceremonies so in the 80s anyone rockin the mic was the MC .. but as hip-hop evolved, MC became emcee and the definition veered more towards someone with raw skills on the mic

Dre is a great rapper.

Like a lot of people I lost respect for KRS when he didn't have shit to say 2020-22 when they were putting the world population on lockdown, masks, and shots. Before that I used to read his books and listen to his lectures.
Anyway, this is another fun little debate, and I think KRS is bias on this one. Here's my explanation:
MC is sort of like the ol school term for a rapper. So it carries with it a certain sense of ol school authenticity. So when someone wants to award a rapper with the distinction of being an M.C. it means that their style pleases a lot of the old heads and pioneers like KRS. Plus, since M.C. technically is an acronym for Master of Ceremonies or to Move the Crowd it would mean that they can hold down a live performance.
It's a fun debate anyway. But to me it's just saying like any rapper that has that respect of the ol school pioneers because he handles his business in a way similar to the golden era of late 80's M.C.'s/rappers

But hey, since everyone ignored my post above, I will put it in the form of a question, so that you all can ignore it again...
Imagine, if everything we've ever heard from Dre was also written by him. Then wouldn't we have him in the Top 5/10 rappers in history and #1 from Compton?
-
Dre has one of the best voices in hip hop
Let me put it another way...
Imagine if some unknown artist came out and just dropped some shit like "Keep Their Heads Wringin". And it was the only thing we'd ever heard from them and it was presumed they'd written their own lyrics, etc.
We would be saying this guy is the second coming of Nas/Rakim/ and the new #1 rapper/lyricist in the game
-

I see what you saying though

naah
the shit dre spit was always dope and smooth but also pretty simplistic
nothing like nas or rakim
more like snoop, warren or daz

Dres Ace in Songs like Keep Their Heads Ringing are his voice delivery and flow to the beat even though he is NOT an MC and those are NOT his lyrics as we all know.

there was a thread on the coli breakin down how corny the lyrics were, it became a running joke
some that stood out:
It's the D-R-E the spectacular
In a party I go for your neck, so call me "Blacula"
niggas run up and try to kill at will
But get popped like a pimple, so call me Clearasil
When I rock the spot with the flavor I got
I get plenty of ass, so call me an ass-tronaut
Your rhyme sounds like you bought 'em at Stop 'n Go
Dre came to wax you so, just call me Mop and Glo
LOL
personally, i never had a problem with the lyrics... but i think calling them "next level" is a bit of a stretch, to say the least... it was the production that made the song, first second and third.

Another reason for me to hate the Coli

I thought the lyrics were pretty cringe myself when I really sat down and read them lol...but I never noticed them all the years I listened to the track because Dre delivered them so confidently
that and the beat makes it a 10/10 track
-
Well, song was made for a comedy movie sound-track unless Cube just heard and chose it, what a great west-coast soundtrack that was compiled..should of been all rap though...title track also ignited the Cypress beef.
''Buck-buck-buck-booyakasha!''
I think i have heard Krs-1 vocals sampled on hip hop hooks/background more then any other rapper.

I don't get it then... because I remember when that track first dropped all I was used to hearing was gangsta lyrics from Death Row, so when he was spitting all those crazy metaphors it sounded so next level to me.
Then with the KRS sample obviously I had no idea that was a KRS one sample, but that was one of those things that was like a buzz word catch phrase at the jr. high lunch table, we had no idea what it was saying but we were just like "BUCK BUCK BUCK BUCK SLAM THAT SHOT"
It was just one of those legendary moments as a kid in the 80's and 90's when you used to hear about something by word of mouth before you actually got your hands on it and it just built up the hype and legend of the track.
Just sitting with my best friends at the lunch table and they are like, "Yeah the new Dre song, he's in an airplane" --- yeah and its like "BUCK BUCK SLAM THAT SHOT!!! I know ya boppin your head, cause I can C ya, you can't C me!"
ohh man life was never better, so I don't care what anyone says those are some of the best vocal rap solo performance in rap history and someone agrees with me cause it one Source Awards or Grammy Awards for best rap solo in 95 when everyone was in their prime
btw..I just found out a few days ago the hole song is a metaphor for getting head
-
Dre is a great rapper, probably over shadowed by his production. Better than Game though? Nah, I just don't see it.

what about Cube?
I agree about Game, he'll always have to carry around that his biggest hits were 50's...but as far as rapping goes I'd take Game over 50 in a battle
Cube should be there.
I agree he should

If the DOC is writing for Dre then I rather listen to Dre rap

You saying The DOC ain't a good (ghost)writer?
The Song was hot mainly because of the beat and the lyrics seemed dope Cruz of the confidence of dre spitting them
