My mom came on my computer while I was out of town last night and deleted Every single one of my files. All my programs, games, Mp3s.. Ughh. She did it just to be a bitch.
I had all the artists and Mp3 seperated into different folder with probably 3000 mp3s.And about 40 albums. I had mad games in the folder, Movies.. and about half of the programs I use on my computer including all my samples and my beats because I been producing for a lil while for a few people locally . I have an MPC and she took the disk to it with all my shit on it and threw it away or something because it was in my computer. Fuck..
That kinda pisses me off because all the stuff I downloaded in 4 years was in that file. All my pics of my friends, shows, vacations, my girl etc.

did she actually say that she did it just to be a bitch? she could've heard on the news how people are catching cases for downloading music, movies, and what not. maybe she was just a concerned parent.
-
Why would she do that? ??? That's pretty messed up. My mom would never do shit like that, and I would never do that to my daughter. :-\ What a trip. Did u get her mad or something?
-

be careful who you give access to your computer...

That's pretty messed up, I'd say. Shit, I probably wouldn't stop yelling for a minute if my mom did that shit. Luckily she doesn't handle computers. :)

my mum wouldnt do that because she uses my mp3s more then i do lol

Nah she definitely did it for no reason. LOL I don't really care now its only a computer. I'm kinda pissed about my MPC disk tho because that effects me in my personal life.

lol, so why not just deleting everything when space is low? a 2gb hd would be like a infinite hd lol. I cant believe you can delete movies and do some other shit on your hd and afterwards just bring them movies back, nono. not possible.
-
ok... let give you a quick lesson about harddrives.
when you "delete" a for example friday.avi , you're not really deleting it, instead, you're removing the link that was pointed to the file. when you remove the file, your OS (ex: windows) will no longer be aware of the files existence, therefore restoring will be possible as long as the files have not been overwritten.
-
first dont talk like a teacher to me.
second.. overwritten=new file downloaded? or what? if the disk is full, how the hell youre supposed to get them files back. any disk would be practically infinite.
third.. send this program to me.

a drive is often very partitioned, when you remove a theres empty places/spaces everywere, the chance that the computer will overwrite the recently deleted part is little, but yes, it do exist. basically, if a disk is full, its difficult to get it back, but in AlerG's case, it wasn't, in his case, files had been removed. If he's not a downloader-freak, the chance that his files still exists are still huge.

True.
The "clusters" will still be on the hdd, unless they're overwritten, which isn't likely in this case..
A recovery program might recover a lot of files.

You're telling me it's not possible? I've personally used one a program like that in the past...And I wouldn't lie about something like that... ::)

nik is right... you can revive old stuff ONLY IF you haven't saved anything over it.
picture a book written in pencil... let's say the book only has 50 pages and you fill them all up. now let's say you want to get rid of a chapter so you can free up space to write more. well, first you would change the table of contents and mark where new space is available but your old work would still be there. you wouldn't actually erase that work until you started to add something new. that's basically how the computer works. i don't know if i did a good job explaining that. there are programs out there that can recover the table of contents and therefore recover your files but i don't know which ones to recommend. try www.downloads.com and search for "file recovery."
