Snoop Dogg has announced the title for his newest album, which is a co-production between Snoop’s Doggy Style imprint and The Neptunes’ Star Trak label.
R&G: (Rhythm & Gangsta) The Masterpiece is slated to be released in time for the Thanksgiving holiday and will be distributed by Geffen Records.
In a recent interview, Snoop said the new album would reflect a differerent, more mature sound.
“I think I’m more melodic, more instrumental, more musical,” Snoop told AllHipHop.com. “[I’m] going back to my background from the church.”
The album is Snoop’s follow up to the platinum selling album Paid Tha Cost To Be Da Bo$$, which produced the #1 single “Beautiful,” also a collaboration between Snoop and The Neptunes.
Snoop is serving as executive producer of the project, which will feature producers he was worked with throughout his career, as well as a collaboration with The Gap Band’s founder, Charlie Wilson''

If this shit is a single I'll be so so fucking happy :o

...and here we are wondering when the West will bounce back... :-\
-
R&G - Rhythm & Gangsta
Well, isn't that just great.
Snoop's been a gangsta, hustler, boss, pimp, and now he will mix it up with lovesongs..
R&G with Neptunes & P.Diddy as producers sounds like R'n'B flavoured hip-pop and more of that "Beautiful" shit, if you ask me.
With Neptunes & Diddys connections, we'll probably have Usher, Brandy, Kelis, Britney & J.Timberlake as guests, and Snoop's already familiar with the last 2.
If he asks Dre about a beat or something for this album, he'll probably stay far away.

Lets try to be positive about it...as far as im concern diddy being the executive producer wasnt even official it was an idea up in the air ...and Diddy is way to busy to be involved in this project in my opinion...so lets wish to best to happen

I knew you was gonna reply quickly, no offense.. ;D
I think you're a dreamer.. the direction Snoop is going in is obvious, and it's not gonna favor the Westcoast, Tha Eastsidaz, Warren G, E-White or anybody that he used to try bring up..
He want his face on MTV all day like the latest Justin or Britney single, and Neptunes & Diddy is the persons that can make this happen.
He for sure isn't going back to the gangsta Doggystyle days, he took "Beautiful"'s success as a sign that "this sells".
I take it that his "The Westcoast gets no love, The Eastcoast steal our shit" speech was just a bunch of BS, and a result of smoking too much.
-
im just enjoying the music man lol...but u r right...i guess we will have to wait and see, I doubt it will be all love oriented but I doubt He go back to his gangsta style
and since he went to Pimp, Gangsta, Loverboy maybe he'll show a new style a la Mos Def or Talib Kweli (that would be funny as fuck)

hmm, im a bit sceptical about this. he might be off that pimp shit, or he might of gone to a completely different funny-style bullshit.
i hope not tho.

Not exactly bad...but I am a bit afraid for 'some surprise superstar appearances'..wich sounds like Missy Elliot,50 Cent,Lil' Jon or Britney Spears to me.. :-\

This stems me somewhat happier though.

coz we got some hating bitches on this board, that would like to see me disapear from here, brother ;)
i'll most probably get another -5 just for sayin this. its all good tho, let them faggots hate me all they want ;)
-
What the fuck happened to this album bringing 'Chronic era Snoop' back as Chad Hugo said? How the fucks that gonna happen if Snoops going back to his church days singing and shit. Snoop needs to be locked down in a room with Dre and both of them need to listen to the entire Deathrow back catelougue and realise what they used to be capable of.
-
im not gonna expect too much from this album...that way, i wont be too disappointed but at the same time i may be pleasantly surprised... 8)
-
thats about what i expect to hear from snoop anymore theses days...wonder if britaney will be a guest
-
The title's alright - would be better just to call it Rhythm & Gangsta IMO...
I'm still interested to hear this - 'It Blows My Mind' gave me complete confidence that The Neptunes and Snoops can put quality product together if they put their minds to it.

yeh, true dat
-
Please Snoop Dogg hasn't released a good album in almost 9 years so I doubt this album will be a "masterpeice".
-
Snoop Dogg is dead as a rapper.
-
I cant see any reason to hate on the album when no one has heard one single track yet ! I`m looking forward to it , could be interesting
-
Naaaahh.... I fear that new album. Really, Snoop's latest songs were just shitty!
And what way will he go with this album, I see 2 ways:
> Pop, pop, pop...
> Neptunes-way...
They're both bad for Snoop...He can do much better..
-
Let's hope it'll go the same way regarding the dopeness of the record as with 'Da Game..' compared to it's follow-up,'Top Dogg'..
-
snoop just dont sound good over pop hip-hop beats - he just sounds...weird
snoop should probably start considering about retiring from rapping - all at least cutting back to a dr. dre level - doing one or two guest spots and maybe an album every 6 years to showcase new talent.
snoop has alot of power to help other rappers sell some records - he should try using it
-
^ That could be good from the quality point of view but I'm sure Snoop will never do that,or at least not at the time.
1. He probably makes more money now then ever.
2. He wants to be in the spotlight all the time
3. He himself probably thinks he's never been more creative then ever.
-
I never thought I would ever say this......................................................but..............
Snoop Who????? Its about time he retired......or at least played behind the scenes like he does with his lil league football team. I heard they were pretty good, now if he could just coach his team on doggystyle records and start putting out hits for his artist.......... until then its Snoop who???? Welcome the Game....... I love snoop dogg, but his time has come and gone......its time for him to become the CEO and give us some other snoops out there out of the West coast, from cali, to seattle....anybody that is representing..... damn i never thought i would ever say something like this..........

Yeah I agree with you... But for example Dre is now most "totally" on the background, but who likes that? (but othersides, maybe it's a good decision of Dre..)
I guess if Snoop would do it we would now all be complaining like: "Snoop, dude, you gotta rap again man.. You were the shit."
Anyway I don't see him going on the background, until we're so sick of him he has to go to the background. So yeah, he might be waiting to long...
-
Dumb ass name if you ask me. It's too long. A song by Charlie Wilson could come out tight though. And the bit about bringing it back to church as far as the melody goes - Kanye Wests albums sound comes to mind.
Still got to wait a long while before we can say anything about the quality of Snoops new album though. Just keep your fingers crossed.

I like the title.
