According to hitsdailydouble.com they're going to sell around 80k the first week.
A bigg flop for the westcoast!!! there goes bringin back the westcoast..
-
i expected 90k 8)
but thats not so bad
there are several records that only sell 50 or 6ok the first week ask...cypress hill, ghostface killah etc
-
I´m Bumpin`It Right Now..It`s ALright..Whuzzup?Why Ya Say It Flop?
-
80k is a huge dissappointment considering how much radio play they received on the west coast. hell im willin to bet if they changed the name '213' to 'snoop dogg and crew' they would have sold more.
-
well one i havent even heard the single over here on the east...actually i dont even know what the first single is...and considering the album blows ass...80k is pretty good
-
Man, you kids don't know what the fuck you are talking about. Selling 80k in one week is a flop? Keep in mind that 90% of their radio play was on the West. They had less radio play than Houston and he only sold 50k first week. Terror Squad had the #1 single in the country and they only sold 90k.
If they came out and sold a mil the first week, y'all would call them sell outs. Y'all are some fickle ass fans. Always talking shit yet, you wouldn't know how to make a hot song if your life depended on it.
Everyone thinks they know everything. Spending all day on the net criticizing how other people work. Y'all kill me.
Another thing, maybe if some of you would actuially go out and support, you would see bigger numbers. I posted last week about Warren G doing an in-store at VIP Records in Long Beach and not one of y'all showed up. He came down and hung out for 4 hours! Big A came through. All the homies came through. It was all love. Y'all talk much shit but would never say that shit directly to these artists face.
Busters.

One of my friends from the midwest has never seen the "Groupy Luv" video, listens to both the pop and rap stations all the time, and has never even heard the single... only way the dude knows about 213 is through me. Given that they've been given pitiful promotion, its doing great!
-
True they had very little promotion a did pretty good in the first week.
-

Hmmm...your friend must not own a TV since the Groupie Luv video premiered on Direct FX on MTV this week.
-
I'm a pretty big 213 fan (thus countering any "hater" argument) but selling less than 100k is a flop. Even a dude like Cassidy can move 100k a week and arguably Snoop, Warren and Nate are much bigger names than Cassidy. I'd attribute the poor sales to the lack of promotion rather than the quality of the album, though. The sales could still pick up, if they choose the right second single.
-
who really cares about sales...if you enjoy the album why does it matter how many sell?
i know this is coming from the guy that posts record sales every week, but that's just to show how raps doing on the charts.
i love the new 213 album, best westcoast album in awhile, peace.
-
Lemme get this straight. Yall are the same mothafuckas that told me Michael Jackson 'only' going double platinum, in 2 months, was a flop, but yet when 213, one of the most anticipated westcoast albums of all time drops, and does 80K, everything's cool.
-
lets go over what you consider a flop, which is rediculous because the album hasn't even been on the charts for a week yet and you are making this statement...for instance:
Black Eyed Peas: Elephunk
Released June 20, 2003
About 32,000 First Week Sales
Took 17 Weeks To Finally Go Gold
Took 8 Months To Finally Go Platinum
Have Been On The Charts For Over 60 Weeks
Never Came In Higher Than 10th On The Charts
Never Sold More Than 55,000 In One Week
Total Sales To Date: 1.93 Million
So, what you would've said the week it was released was it was a flop based on the fact that they only sold 32,000 in their first week, but they are kind of an exception because they hadn't previously blew up and now you can say that they have slowly become double platinum recording artists.
213 is a little different, i agree 80,000 isn't alot for a group with the members that they have, but those numbers aren't final yet. Also, that album is not a flop because the shit is dope. The more i listen to it the more i feel it, peace.
-
LMFAO, rap fans dont give a fuck about snoop anymore. On the east no one thinks anything of him anymore. On the west he loses fans every day. Jus look at the board. A guy like AC Grundy that loves the west cant stand snoop anymore. This album would of did good when.... 3-4 years ago when there was a shitload of hype for this album. Snoop rather put out his half assed shit than an album that had potential like 213.
-

that's where you're wrong...you said that after 2 months jackson was double platinum (i'm guessing that's for the invincible album right?) but when his album fell off the charts five months after it's release it had only sold 1.73 million, far from what you stated...i also would consider tha flop considering the pub and time put into that, peace.
-
who really cares about sales...if you enjoy the album why does it matter how many sell?
It's not like we obsess over it, but it would be nice to see your favourite group do well.
As for the BEP example, that's more of an exception than the rule. I would say that a large majority of albums start off with their first week sales being their top sales and steadily decline from there. I don't see 213 being any different, unless they get a second single that blows up.
-
First off, the 80k statement is bullshit, the CD hasn't been out for a week, so how can you make that statement? Also, I don't expect them to move that many units the first week, because they took too damn long to release the video. Its gonna take a couple more weeks for the video to come into full rotation and then sales will pick up. also, they could have a huge second single, I would go with "Absolutely" or "Twist Yo Body," if they pick "Another Summer" (because its a Kanye West production) they are dumber than I thought and they will be fucked. The song is too laid back to be a single, and is also one of the weaker tracks on the album.

Hmmm. Check your statistics, I just checked RIAA.com, and Michaels album was certified Platinum @ the beginning of december, then Double Plat, January 25th, 2002. It was released October 30th, 2001, less than 3 months earlier, making my rough number of 2 months correct. So....
that's where YOU'RE wrong, and I'd appreciate an apology not only for your mistake, but for your audacity of accussing me of making a mistake.

but black eyed PEAS ARE SUPPOSSED TO SUCK NUTZ....213 IS NOT!
Groupie love is a horrible..horrible single.
I pretty much expected 80K, i mean hell, Lloyd Banks didn't have a great single and he sold over 400K? That's a fanbase!

A bigg flop for the westcoast!!!
For the West Coast? Was it a West Coast reunion album? Fuck it it wasnt even West Coast!! No man. If you wanna call it a bigg flop (i dont care about sales: album sux. Period!), call it a bigg flop for Snoop! Nate and Warren G are still getting paid, so it's all good. But Snoop is pratically the executive producer, the one who choosed the producers, the tracks, the sound, the themes, etc. So it's a bigg flop for him.
-
Not bad for a below average album if you ask me
-
who cares about the sales. the album officially flopped music wise. I didn't expect much from the album, but I really really did expect at least 2, maybe 3 songs that were just straight bangers. Got nothing close to that.
-
c'mon its a good album considering how much shit sucks now adays... i mean you couldnt be expecting a classic from them NOW... ::)
-
so Murda Metal or whatever your lame ass name is, you dont think Absolutely or MLK or Twist ya body are bangers??? Wow, some people are just too picky. Yes, this album is worse than it should be, but there are definitely some tight ass songs on here, i dont know how peeps can deny that

nope I don't. dunno how that is picky. I just like different music than you. I don't think there is any tight ass songs on there.

No. But i was expecting an album as good as the last Warren G one. And Nate is still hot. It's Snoop who totally fucked it with his stupid producers and his wack rap performances.
-
I was suprised it even sold that much the first week. For a westcost record they did pretty good cuz who else on the westcoast sold that lately on there first week I think only westside connection this year and thats it. Also if you ever notice how tvt's first single dont ever make it that big but the second one or even the third one is a hit. Give 213 time and they might be able to sale and possibly even go platium

Thats true. Look at Ying Yang Twinz last album, first single "Naggin" did very little, and then the second and third singles "Salt Shaker" and "Whats Happinin" blew the fuck up. Then Lil Jon, first single "I Dont Give A Fuck" did kinda well, then "Get Low" was song of the year.

So, lemme get this straight. You hold more authority than the Recording Industry Association of America, whom not only award the Gold and Platinum status, but INVENTED the Gold and Platinum status awards.... ? Gotcha.
Forgive me for this, but.... I think I'll take their word for it, homie... and they certified him double platinum less than 3 months after the album came out.
-
http://www.riaa.com/gp/database/search_results.asp
There you can see "Invincible" was certified 2x platinum. Labels sometimes dont ask the RIAA to certify some of their albums, since it costs them money. So you can't assure a RIAA certified 2x platinum album has not sold over 3M, but you can be sure that AT LEAST it has sold 2M.
Plus I believe "Invincible" sold over 10 million records worldwide. How is that a flop? The world does not end in the USA, kids.
-
We are often asked why we don’t just use sales figures from SoundScan. SoundScan measures over-the-counter sales at music retail locations, while the RIAA®'s certification levels are based on unit shipments (minus returns) from manufacturers to a wide range of accounts, including non-retail record clubs, mail order houses, specialty stores, units shipped for Internet fulfillment or direct marketing sales, such as TV-advertised albums.
-
Alright, since you can search the net for paragraphs like that, search this post, and find where I said he went double plat, I don't understand what the fucking argument is about? I said he went double platinum, And he did.
Or, you could look @ it another way. He sold 4 times as many albums as 213 his first week, and people considered it a flop.
-
yea invincible went 2 x platinum but not in 2 months like you originally stated...anyways this is a 213 thread...the album is dope, peace.
-
WEST UP, FUCC SNOOP AND FUCC ALL THE RADIO STATIONS THAT DO NOT SUPPORT THE WEST.
-
What many people don't think about is that they didn't spend much money for the album. They don't have 100 000 dollar producers besides Kanye, they don't have features on there. The Doggystyle Allstars Record did probably coast more than the 213 album
-
oh dear the world is full with hate these days....
....enjoy the album if u like it like i do, if u dont like it then leave it alone and please dont act like its your life mission to talk it down
