were they the tracks he did for All Eyez On Me, or did something pop up after that release, like a soundtrack or something? I always believed that the 'Cali Love Remix' and 'Cant C Me' tracks were his last official contributions as a Death Row artist...
-
you're probably right on that belief, but I have to wonder if Been There, Done That & Blunt Time weren't already made (beat-wise) while he was at Death Row...
-
most likely they were.....i heard 2pac chose like 3 dre beats for his all eyez on me cd....Cali Love, Cant C Me and Blunt Time....now maybe blunt time didnt sound like it does now but never da less...he chose a track called blunt time
-
DRE CAN DO WITH OUT THE ROW..HE WAS THE ROW B4 PAC.
-
Yeah, some beats on the Aftermath CD were probably recorded around the same time or just after he got out of DR. The 2 Dre records that did make it on All Eyez On Me are 2 of his best productions, imo. I think of them as the last real G-Funk Dre beats till he developed his new "2001" sound, ya'll agree?

I heard Blunt Time was.. along with that beat Ras Kass had for Ghetto Fabulous (yes i know budha produced it.. but its rumoured it was originally Dre song called Ghetto Tango)
We've been over this before... can you imagine a Chronic II - Papa's Got A Brand New Funk>album with songs of the calibre of..
California Love
Can't C Me
Natural Born Killaz
Keep Their Heads Ringin
Blunt Time
Ghetto Tango...
Dre was still on the ball.. King Tee's song Str8 gone from the Aftermath comp was dope. lsome of the stuff shortly after on The Firm project, e..g Phone Tap, that track he did for Nas's album was dope.. that unreleased firm project leftoever gem Everyday Thing.. and the input he had on King Tee's album (cant forget the input BattleCat and Quik had on there though!)
What was Suge thinking?!
Dre would have remained, or perhaps regained #1 spot at the Row, and Suge wouldnt have got as many royalities.
Truth is the Row focus's on one project at a time.. all the best shit goes into whats current -not matter what- Dre wanted to keep back stuff for himself which caused conflict.. other artists probably wanted to do this too..
-
Damn, if Dre released a Chronic follow up in '95-96, that would've been killer. At least we got a taste of what was expected, like Overseer said.

i think he meant before they were released.....someone mentioned the years 95/96
-
Chronic II would of been more like
1.Dre day 2 (addressin DOC)
2.Gimme Fifty Feet (feat Ice Cube)
3.California Love OG
4.Blunt Time OG
5.Zoom OG
6.Ghetto Tango
Not sure of more trax those r the only ones i know that were meant to be on there
-
I know those are available....i'm sayin if those tracks were made into an actual album...not just tossed on various sdtks and such....
-
think "been there, done that" was a Death Row beat as well that he took with him
-
i would think the last Dre beats on DR were the ones on All Eyez On Me
-
i'm pretty sure they were tracks by pac
-
the can'T c me feat. tha dogg pound version would have been a tight release IMO
-

-
and don't forget about the original toss it up beat that dre gave to blackstreet, i think i got the original version
-
2.Gimme Fifty Feet (feat Ice Cube)
This was supposed to be on "Helter Skelter"...
-

i never understood the deal about that one...
wasn't Teddy Riley credited with that beat on Blackstreet's ish? and 2pac said they stole Dre's beat... ???

There was something in the XXL issue that had the making of Makaveli. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the song was originally Dre produced and for Danny Boy, however when Dre left he sold the beat to Teddy Riley who tweaked it and used it for "No Diggity"
-
Wish I could slide into his vault!

i'm not saying this is wrong, but i kinda doubt that shit. at the time, all dre's shit was crazy synths (by this point they were overdone--i'm glad he changed his style up) and "no diggity" is a sample from a bill wither's song called "grandma's hands". it just doesn't really fit what dre was doing at the time....
-
Cant C Me gotta be Dre's best beat ever.....shit is WICKED on the speakers.

found the issue of XXL with the Making of Makaveli...
EDI: That's a song that was already done. Suge had it done with Danny Boy and Jodeci on it. That's my least favorite song on Makaveli. 'Pac just got on the track and did his thing. That was some shit him and Suge had already worked out. And the crazy part that a lot of people don't know is that that song was originally [Blackstreet's] "No diggity" beat, 'cause [Dr.] Dre had did that "No Diggity" beat while he was still at Death Row. And Suge had it. But then Dre sold the shit to Teddy Riley. The beginning of those songs were almost exactly alike. I don't know who bit off who. I ain't here to start no shit, but in the beginning "No Diggity" and "Toss it up" were almost exactly alike. Yeah, you would have to be there to know that.
