Title: To the people with Death Row knowledge (Chronic era question)
Post by: tonyscarbones on June 29, 2005, 02:16:07 PM
I remember back in the day picking up the source mag when it was still good.  This issue had Dr.Dre on the cover with a gun to his head and it was a little before the Chronic came out.  They were talking about a song called Mr.Officer and they printed the chorus for it.  The chorus is the same from the Geto Boys Crooked Officer song.  Did Death Row give the track to the Geto Boys?  Anyone know the story?

no idea...

3 things though..

1) remember bushwick bill is on The Chronic

2) mellowman posted that the song was played in some documentary about the LA Riots (maybe why it didnt end up on the album after all?)

3) didn't michel'le kinda remake it on the chronic 2000 album death row put out? at least thats what i heard...

in Have Gun, Will Travel, it said that Interscope demanded that the song was cut from the album (along with Deep Cover)... after all the ruckus with Body Count's Cop Killer they wouldn't risk such controversy...

How come "Deep Cover" was removed from The Chronic? It would've been great to have that track on the album.
