1st part of the album got some serious bangers , then it's wack ass poppy hooks one after the other...  there is a huge drop of quality  from the track with Jeezy to the end of the album (with "Born in the Trap being an exception")

Best tracks :

Number 2,4,8,10 ,18

I don't think "average" was the consensus here when it comes to Game 1st two albums ... The 2nd part of this album is just crap (with the exception of the primo track) and there is no so called hate in my comments

ok so this is supposed to be the memorable album that everybody was talking about for the last 2 years. doesnt sound like it on the first listen. the 2nd and 3rd listen didnt really blow me away either.

like others said, the album got weaker throughout the 2nd half. some of the songs made me go wtf? llike "Pot of Gold" joint or "California Dream", what was that? lax was better than this.

but this literally just came out, so Ima chill and give this a good amount of spins before saying too much, but it looks like i'm leaning towards a negative review

EDIT: game's "agressive" flow/voice sounds weird at some places. like the "Paramedics" track, jeezy sounds like a complete idiot and game sounds like jeezy.

heaters:
-The City (kendrick killed the closing verse, DAMN!)
-Martians vs Goblins
-Ricky
-The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
-Speakers on Blast

some guys on the internet said only 6 tracks that were recorded for the "original" album made it to the final product ... some didn't make the cut because of early leaks ( Monsters in my head, Rough) , some ended up on the mixtapes , some went M.I.A ( a song produced by RZA, Dead People by Dre , a song rumored to be called "Strictly 4 the west" feat dre, cube and snoop  ::))

These claims may be (are probably) BS ... that guy Koolo who is legit said that a lot of good songs he heard didn't make the cut though

Maybe you guys at Dubcnn have some "inside" infos aswell

Dead people hadn't been mixed and the RZA song was on Purp & Patron think they were havin trouble gettin a sample cleared for the RZA song.

depends on what you consider original album, before Dre was involved? seven songs in that case are still on the album, and RZA song is on Purp & Patron

Not impressed on 1st listen, it's slightly better than LAX and nowhere near the Documentary or Doctor's Advocate.

In fact, Purp & Patron is a better collection of Game tracks than the RED album.

i'd say the middle of the album definitely suffers from alot of filler that i wasn't really feeling at all....but the first and last half of the album is pretty dope i'd say after first listen, altho each half has a song i'm not really feeling and vice versa...i guess what I'm saying is the flow of the album is kind of lacking...i gotta give it some more time to be sure

The Dre narration skits, trying to be all serious but end up sounding like unfunny stand-up comedy. Should of left the skits to the D.O.C., that's his department.

Take a few tracks off and add a couple from Game's 2011 mixtapes, you got something playable on ya headphones. It's about the best the west or hip-hop is going to offer this year. Until Detox drops *ahem*.

I shit on those south sounding tracks with shit ass claps, fast hi-hats and bitch snares. wtf is that? How come it cought up and got so popular? Artistically it is just shit.

It's a disease plaguing west coast hip-hop.

Wow, this is a disappointing album.
If Game had taken some of his leaked/mixtapes songs from august 2008 to august 2011, he would have had a great album (Bang Along, Turn off the lights, Diamonds, Laugh, infraRED, Monsters in my head, American Dream, White Soft porn and even Ain't No Doubt About are better than 80% of the album IMO).
The beats on this RED album are really disappointing on first listen, and for me, it's his worst album (even LAX had a couple more enjoyable tunes)

This is hilarious because most people HATED a few of those songs once they heard snippets of them (ie. White Soft Porn, which wasn't a serious song). Haven't heard the album but you really out your mind you think White Soft Porn, Turn Off The Lights (dope song but still) and a few of those mentioned would make the album better.

Bang Along was made in early 2007, people had already heard a bit from it on one of his DVD's so it was a old joint with a older flow/lyrics. InfraRED was supposed to be the intro to the album but i guess he changed it the last minute. But also it's a business that's probably why he added those chick songs recently, cuz most of them were done a few months ago.

Weak. He released 3-4 mixtapes in the last few months and I don't see any improvment in the quality.
"Ricky" is dope though, "The City" and "Martians" are pretty good too.

STOP, STOP, STOP, STOP!

1. The dude copied Rick Ross & Jeezy's flow on their respective songs together. That's a joke.

2. There are only two REALLY good songs on this. That is "Born In The Trap" & "The City".

3. If you can listen to bullshit lyrics that have been repeated four albums deep & just listen to pretty dope production, I understand the love. But I want you to understand Game shouldn't be credited for what Khalil did.

4. If you really can't hear a drop in quality, I don't know what to say to you.

5. The Documentary = Doctor's Advocate >>> L.A.X. >> R.E.D.

This was a much better album than I expected. Sure, Game jacks most of the rapper's flows when they're featured on his song, and track 13-17 is pretty awful but it still comes out as a damn good album. A solid ****/5 album.

when you say something that is clearly not true in order to denounce somebody one can call it hating. games first albums were clearly far superior to the average rap album released during that time. calling it average is like calling durant an average shooter or manning an average quarterback.

i see people defending game's first two albums as a means of deflecting criticism from this one. it's obvious really fast that this falls behind his first two albums, whether they were just good, great or classic, whatever. its about as good as LAX. some enjoyable stuff but generic mainstream vibes for the most part. i thought LAX was pretty average and right now a little more enjoyable than this one. tracks i like the goblins one has a dope beat, ricky is epic, mama knows is actually real chill. but the dre involvement is a complete waste of time and that drug test joint is terrible, what were they thinking?

and i'm not a hater. game fans are real quick to call out anyone and everyone as haters. book of david is 100 times better than this shit, real talk  8)

Basically it's LAX part 2, but even more watered down than that was. It started off with so much potential, but then just absolutely went to shit at that half-way point. Honestly, for the most part it's good mixtape material. Not much album tracks here. And Ricky is the only track I can't wait to hear again, that was fucking crazy, other than that though, I don't really care to hear the majority of this again. A few others were cool (The City, Born In The Trap and one or 2 more) but as of the first listen, Ricky was by far the standout amongst mostly good mixtape tracks.

I don't know why songs like The Ocean, Soft Rhodes, Monsters In My Head, Keeping It Real and a bunch more from all the mixtapes he dropped in the past 2 years didn't make it over some of the average mixtape tracks on here. I understand the poppy mainstream tracks, but theres way too much filler on here.

Take a few tracks off and add a couple from Game's 2011 mixtapes, you got something playable on ya headphones. It's about the best the west or hip-hop is going to offer this year. Until Detox drops *ahem*.

i see people defending game's first two albums as a means of deflecting criticism from this one. it's obvious really fast that this falls behind his first two albums, whether they were just good, great or classic, whatever. its about as good as LAX. some enjoyable stuff but generic mainstream vibes for the most part. i thought LAX was pretty average and right now a little more enjoyable than this one. tracks i like the goblins one has a dope beat, ricky is epic, mama knows is actually real chill. but the dre involvement is a complete waste of time and that drug test joint is terrible, what were they thinking?

and i'm not a hater. game fans are real quick to call out anyone and everyone as haters. book of david is 100 times better than this shit, real talk  8)

the few highlights can't even touch the best book of david cuts, not even close. the album has improved so much over time and in ways this type of thing could never. but different strokes.

its relevance is comparing it to the quality of the best west coast release this year :monkey:

RED album is reasonable-ish but the final tracklist was probably hand picked or filtered down heavily by jimmy and co. and it shows.

Game and Khalil both did they're thing on ricky. Game killed that shit.

Tracks 1-10. No real disappointment. Shits on LAX some great concepts.

Tracks 13-15. Is everyone's problem. That's where the label forces the major artists to make a couple tracks for the women. Everyone here just wants gangsta shit/g funk. If you got your girl. Play those tracks.

Real good album from game. LAX pt. 2? No It's The Red Album. Holds its own. Its about the most universal so it can be compared to The Documentary in the long run. The Documentary>DA>=RED>>>LAX

First thoughts after listening a couple of times:

Very inconsistent album, 8-10 dope/good tracks, 4 unnecessary Dre-skits, 7-8 filler/weak tracks.
Too many redundant features, Lil Wayne, Drake, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Lloyd, Mario, Wale, Lu Breeze, didn't really add anything to the album..
Lil Wayne only contributed to ruin the hooks on 2 tracks with crackhead mumbling.. label politics features = boo.. look to Watch The Throne to see how it could be done.

I'm gonna take the 10 best tracks, and add the 8-10 best leaked tracks and mixtape tracks.
With all the leaked material I can make "R.E.D. Album" and "R.E.D. Album 2", both sounding better than the retail version.  8)

No way, i know it kinda sounds like space shit. It's a very basic strum/sound effect and does not advance after the first skit and it's probably not even produced by Dre.

You know the skits are 100% ghost written too for Dre.

Andre is busy collecting material from others for his own tribute album.
The 'Planets' album we wont hear for years/Next decade, that's if we ever hear it just like his : 'Ghetto Metal', 'Helter Skelter', 'Not These Niggas Again' albums promised in interviews etc...

This was a much better album than I expected. Sure, Game jacks most of the rapper's flows when they're featured on his song, and track 13-17 is pretty awful but it still comes out as a damn good album. A solid ****/5 album.

wait....how can an album with at least 4 awful tracks be a 4 star album? imo a 4 star album is an album with 4 star songs, and 1 weak song at worst.

the best songs are really damn good and keep it from being a 3 star album imo.

No wonder Game can satisfy his fans. Yall niggas shit on his good music and praise the wach shit like "the ocean" and "I'm the king".

I agree "monsters in my head" shouldve been on the album. But if it were included the usual attendance-haters wouldve said its dumb to include a leaked song.

I finally finished listening to Hood Mornin yesterday, I will say "graveyard", "rough" and/or "the town" shouldve made the album. But I haven't heard RED to say what songs they should replace, I just know they're too good to be just mixtape tracks.

I don't know what the complaint is here - sure track 13 drops off into more commercial appeal track, but the song with Lloyd is dope. Even the one with Mario and Wale is cool.

I can see this possibly having more radio singles than any of his past albums. Not to mention there are some tracks on here that might end up being some of the past in his discography like "Ricky" and "The City."

I wasn't too fond of the project upon the first listen, but the second and third listen have grown on me. And make sure y'all are hearing this album with some knocking speakers - laptop speakers aren't gonna do this album any justice.

1. Dr. Dre Intro - Cool narration

2. The City - 4/5. Very cool Dre & Cool beat. Game sounding hungry on the first verse, flowing nice and aggressive. Kendrick's hook is tight, longer than most hooks. Kendrick's verse is pretty sick. I dig this.

3. Drug Test - 4/5. West Coast banger. Dre sounds different. Beat is sick. Sly's hook is great, wish he did more in the song; we basically hear him twice. I was hoping the final version would be slightly different but this is still cool. Snoop is nothing special on this either and barely in the track.

4. Martians Vs. Goblins - 4/5. No I.D. & 1500? Cool! Beat bangs. Game's flow is weird, but cool. I can't really fuck with Tyler's voice but his flow and lyrics are very tight. Lil Wayne's hook is nothing special at all.

5. Red Nation - 3.5/5. Everyone's heard this already. I thought it was decent when it first came out and my opinion hasn't changed. Wayne's hook is pretty tight but had too many curses for a radio single.

6. Dr. Dre 1 - Cool narration

7. Good Girls Go Bad - 3.75/5. Already the third Cool & Dre beat; this one is alright. The soulful hook saves this song IMO. Damn at the McNair line. Drake's verse is OK, have heard him spit much better. It's got a feel-good vibe to it.

8. Ricky - 4.5/5. This is dope. Beat bangs, Game spitting very nice; maybe his nicest solo performance so far. Exactly who is "Ricky" anyways? The beat is really tight! Probably the best track so far.

9. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly - 3.5/5. Hit-Boy is one of the best up & coming producers. "My God" & "Niggas in Paris", two dope recent hit-Boy beats. This beat is cool but not amazing. Game's voice sounds tight but I like when he's in storytelling mode. This is cool, but I don't feel like it'll have a lot of replay value.

10. Heavy Artillery - 3.75/5. Never been a big StreetRunner fan but this beat is decent. I've heard Ross spit much nicer than this; disappointed he didn't come tighter. Game wasn't special either. Beanie had the best verse. This is decent.

11. Paramedics - 3/5. Maestro will never make a better beat than "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It" lol. This sounds nothing special. Probably the worst track so far, but not horrible. Sounds like a track that would be on a Jeezy album.

12. Speakers on Blast - 4/5. Was really looking forward to this one (Big Boi feature). Beat bangs nicely from Mars. Game's verse is cool and he actually does a very nice hook. A Big Boi verse literally never disappoints. Easily one of the best flows in rap history as well. I've never loved E-40 but he fits this track nicely.

13. Hello - 2.5/5. This shows the inconsistency of Mars perfectly. A banger on the last track, a dud on this one. Not my style at all, but I guess it's a good pop beat. This that soft shit Game always has. I'll pass.

14. All the Way Gone - 3/5. Another poppy dud from Mars. Not as bad as "Hello" but still doesn't do much for me at all. Fits Wale better than it does Game.

15. Pot of Gold - 3.25/5 Chris Brown is a very talented singer, but I don't want to hear him on a Game album lol.

16. Dr. Dre 2 - Cool narration.

17. All I Know - 3/5. Toronto in the buildin' baby, Luu Breeze & Boi-1da  :D This beat is ok. Luu's hook fits it, but again this isn't my thing. This is basically typical average mainstream music.

18. Born in the Trap - 4/5. Finally back on the right track. A dope Premier beat. The sound in the hook can be weird but it's still a tight beat. This is a nice return to form. Finally Game spits over a Premier track.

19. Mama Knows - 3.25/5. Toronto in the buildin' once again  :D This isn't as poppy as I expected it to be. Beat is cool. Nelly Furtardo sounds way too high pitched on the hook though. Kinda' weird as well.

20. California Dream - 4/5. Mars on the beat. This is alright. Game always ends his albums on a positive, meaningful note. I really dig the soulful hook.

21. Dr. Dre Outro - Again, cool narration.

All in all, a pretty average album. Too many tracks, a lot of filler. Especially as the album goes on. About on par with LAX I'd say.

Track listing should have looked like (without going through all the mixtapes and shit)

1. Dr. Dre Intro
2. The City (feat. Kendrick Lamar)
3. Drug Test (feat. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg & Sly)
4. Martians Vs. Goblins (feat. Lil Wayne & Tyler the Creator)
5. Dr. Dre 1
6. Good Girls Go Bad (feat. Drake)
7. Ricky
8. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
9. Heavy Artillery (feat. Rick Ross & Beanie Sigel)
10. Speakers on Blast (feat. Big Boi & E-40)
11. Dr. Dre 2
12. Pot of Gold (feat. Chris Brown)
13. Born in the Trap
14. California Dream
15. Dr. Dre Outro

Still gets to keep Drake/Chris Brown for future singles/sales reference but much shorter and better overall. I'd include the Nelly Furtado track possibly.

I only gave about a handful of tracks (just over a handful) a 4/5 and I rate pretty easily. That's not a good sign.

Same really great tracks, but the 2nd half of the album bar a few tracks were major let downs with the chick songs. The weird thing is there was some really good songs on the mixtapes that should've made the album, like The Kill, Lost. If you got some of the tracks off the mixtapes this album could've been close to classic

I've never understood why a track leaking somehow disqualifies it from album inclusion. The fact is that only hardcore hip-hop fans listen to leaked songs on the net. Mainstream rappers with a mainstream audience, of which Game is one, should care one way or the other about a few early leaks. But what is arguably worse than not including great lekaed tracks like Rough and Monsters In My Head, is voluntarily throwing away some of your very best material on mixtapes. "Lost" is one of the best tracks on every level that Game has ever done and he put that on a mixtape? Crazy.

Anyway, on my first listen now and I'm digging it so far, but I haven't gotten to the dreaded commercial part of the album yet.

After first listen I'm deeply disappointed. I love each of the first three Game albums, but honestly R.E.D. bored me to tears. Far too many generic hip-hop tracks that's got nothing special about them at all. I like Purp & Patron better than this. Only joint I really loved on first listen was "The City".

Wow album started off ridiculously good, but dropped off in a major way once it hit the joint with Jeezy. You got about 3-4 joints with RnB singers that could have all interchanged with each other. I actually really dig "Mama Knows" Games flow was dope, parts of it sounded like a throwback joint, I would of liked to see him and Pharell make more music like this. Last track is cool too, parallel to "Like Father, Like Son" but different vibe, I can dig it.

I can't see why he didn't keep "Lost" for this album, shit didn't leak and he just gave it away. "Soft Rhodes" and "Make Up Sex" could have replaced any of the rnb joints on the album but would of sounded that much better.

I dunno, with all the mixtapes he's given us I could make a pretty sick album that will stay in rotation for a while, but it seems Jimmy got in his ear a bit too much with the final tracklist.

This album is just as good as the Documentary in my opinion. I feel like all his albums delivered. I know everyone on here loves to get critical of him but this shit bangs. Yes, although I have included the four bonus tracks on LAX (Camera Phone, Nice, Spanglish, Big Dreams). Beats are better on The Doc, but The Game was better in every way on LAX - better use of his voice, better flow, better lyrics. And LAX had PERSONALITY, something which R.E.D. in all its genericness is totally lacking. But D.A. is BY FAR his best album. It's not close. Infact, it's my favourite hip-hop album post 2000.

I don't think "Paramedics" or "Speakers On Blast" are that bad though. After those two songs the album gets real weak.

there is no deluxe edition ... game said Interscope wanted him to only put 12 tracks on the album and make a deluxe version but Game decided to put all 17 songs in the "normal" edition ... something along those words

I'm not sure if this is true, but here's how my "12 songs" version of the album would look like.

01. Dr. Dre Intro
02. The City (feat. Kendrick Lamar)
03. Drug Test (feat. Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg)
04. Martians Vs. Goblins (feat. Tyler The Creator & Lil Wayne)
05. Dr. Dre Skit #1
06. Ricky
07. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
08. Heavy Artillery (feat. Beanie Sigel & Rick Ross)
09. Dr. Dre Skit #2
10. Monsters In My Head
11. 25 To Life
12. Dr. Dre Outro

Deluxe Edition Bonus Songs:
13. Paramedics (feat. Young Jeezy)
14. Speakers On Blast (feat. Big Boi & E-40)
15. Can You Believe It (feat. Lil Wayne & Baby)
16. Wow (feat. Gucci Mane)

note that the beginning of drug test was cut off
I've never understood why a track leaking somehow disqualifies it from album inclusion. Crazy.

Anyway, on my first listen now and I'm digging it so far, but I haven't gotten to the dreaded commercial part of the album yet.
yeah i think it's a weak argument.

Here is my ideal tracklist :
1. InfraRED (4:39)
2. L.A. Times (4:07)
3. Born In The Trap (3:46)
4. The City (feat. Kendrick Lamar) (5:41)
5. Ricky (4:06)
6. Diamonds (feat. K-Young) (3:26)
7. Turn Off The Lights (3:21)
8. Ain't No Doubt About It (feat. Justin Timberlake) (4:23)
9. Bang Along (5:41)
10. American Dream (3:15)
11. Supastar (feat. Ashley Cole & Mike Epps) (5:37)
12. In my '64 (feat. Pharrell & Snoop Dogg) (3:17)
13. Phantom (feat. Robin Thicke) (3:54)
14. On The Block (feat. Snoop Dogg) (4:10)
15. Laugh (3:34)
16. Better Days (5:35)
17. Mama Knows (feat. Nelly Furtado) (3:52)
18. Monsters In My Head (3:49)
19. Show Is Over (1:46)

78 minutes, and for me, much much better than the official album. Too bad all those tracks ended up on mixtapes.

really like the album...with the exception of that lloyd joint, the wale joint, and the jeezy shit (which i thought i would like :-\ ima replace this with the boosie 187 track which is much better) but i get why those songs r on there....but i wish jimmy iovine or however u say his name would realize that he should let the artist be who he/she is if his album is hard than let it be hard real hip hop fans will buy the shit regardless....but whatever he super paid so he must know somethin i dont...either way i like it still...but ima do what someone else in this thread mentioned and thats take some filler tracks from purp and patron and candy coronas and red and then make my own perfect red album...prolly somethin like this

the city
drug test
MvG
red nation
good girls gone bad
heavy artilery
187
Lost
speakers on blast
the kill
this way
all i know
born in the trap
moma knows
cali dream
bottles n rockin js
im the king

the last 2 r my bonus tracks

 1. Dr. Dre Intro
2. You Are The Blood (Ft. Sufjan Stevens)
3. L.A Times
4. My 6-4 (Ft. Pharrell & Snoop Dogg)
5. Dr. Dre 1
6. It Must Be Me (Ft. Pharrell)
7. Big Money
8. Slangin' Rocks (Ft. Eazy E)
9. Shake
10. Dr. Dre 2
11. Cold Blood (Ft. Busta Rhymes & Dre)
12. Good Girls Go Bad (Ft. Drake)
13. Ricky
14. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
15. HaHaHaHaHa
16. Dr. Dre Outro
17. Stadium Music
18. Rough (Ft. Yelawolf) (No chorus version)
19. Pot Of Gold (Ft. Chris Brown)
20. Mama Knows (Ft. Nelly Furtado)
21. California Dream
22. The Ocean (Ft. Dre. Dre & Busta Rhymes)
23. Heaven
24. R.I.P Story

I need to find a placement of Born In The Trap which is an incredible track but due to the low level rise from the piano and its content I think it should be an introduction track and don't like it's placement on the original album.

Anyways, I don't care that I only like about a 3rd of the actual album because artist these days have problem with sample clearances or label politics and they're songs intended for the album that end up on street tapes (original content). I'm of the i-pod generation and with Game I have no problem making a solid album from the R.E.D recording sessions.

Listened to this today, for me its def better than LAX but not quite as good as Documentary or DA. Stand out tracks were The City, Ricky, The Goog The Bad The Ugly and Born In The Trap. The rest of the tracks are pretty solid except from the Wale Lloyd and Mamma Knows. The Dre narration is unnessecary and Infared would have been a better intro.
Overall its solid but could have been better with some of the tracks that were put on the mixtapes like The Kill, Monsters In My Head, LA Times, Childrens Story and a few more.

i just dont know why you guys care about the dre skits. Fits the concept. There's still 17 songs to bump. Say what you want about "hello" but i'll bang that. There's alot of closed minded people on this forum, especially if you can't listen to a joint about chicks, which makes me feel like most of you haven't been laid before. I'm glad infrared was a mixtape joint. The city is a way better intro. Epic. Game came with it even though kendrick killed him on it. I just knew 13-15 would be the tracks that get hated on. My least favorite track was paramedics with jeezy then probably the song with wale and mario. A big step up with the production on this one. Documentary rivals its production. He's lyrically at his best on this album than any other album. Slap your self if you thught his lyrics were better on DA or the documentary. He really has concepts on this one too. Not like DA where he just rapped with his back against the wall. Which was still dope but about a whole lot of nothing other than the few tracks about Dre, mentioning of g unit split up/his own brother

You turn to Game for songs about girls? I'd rather listen to Drake rap/sing about bitches. There are plenty of dope mainstream songs about bitches than to some average Game attempt at it.

& the Dre skits? Such a joke. Game probably paid Dre a cool million to do those lol.

i dont turn to him for it, but if its on his album i'll peep it and some of the tracks he's done have been nice. "Special" and "dont worry" were both dope. "Gentlemans affair" from LAX was real nice mostly because JR Rotem, even touchdown had a dope ass beat, game did what he had to do on that and now "hello" is definitely some shit i can play

i respect your opinion there, but i think the production on the tracks about girls is usually top notch. Game carried hello with some nice production and help from llyod with ad libs and etc making it real smooth

This is my opinion, and lookin at other peoples reviews I know people gonna come at me for this but fuck it.

Apart from a few tracks this album is trash. I mean Game is 1 of 2 (other being Snoop) of the biggest artists on the West and he come with this Southern soundin shit. Ricky is Fire, Heavy Artillery is Fire, The Good Bad and Ugly is cool, Martians Vs Goblins got a bangin beat but Game soundin like he tryna be old school Slim Shady and doesn't really fit the album when you got tracks like Ricky. Born in the Trap is bangin but like other people mentioned I dont like the beat switch up when the hook comes in. I guess Pot of Gold has kinda grown on me now, Drug Test is huge dissappointment (or should I say anticapointment). When that photo of Game, Dre and Snoop came out people was expecting Fire. And off topic here but I dont like Sly's influence on Dre, ever since he come on the scene Dre been producing  that club shit (Kush, Mr Prescription, Drug Test). Maybe its not him, Who knows.

Anyway this would be my tracklist, more overall West Coast feel, comparable to DA, I call it RED Album (Street Edition).

1. Violin - Perfect intro (Anyone know who produced this?)
2. Infared - kinda like a 2nd intro/cool freestyle type shit
3. The Good, Bad and the Ugly - Hard beat, Game on dat Gangsta shit
4. Red - Cool head bobbin shit - kinda like an infared part 2 with Redman.
5. I Just want to fuck - smoothe Snoop type track on some modern day Doggystyle shit. Kurupt bringin dat heat (Denaun on the beat)
6. Heavy Artillery - Straight Bangin, don't listen to Rick Ross but he came correct on this, Beans bringin that heat as usual. one of Games best tracks Post DA 8)
7. I'm On - Nice beat by Mars (same sample as Raekwon's Surgical Gloves by Alchemist) overall nice track.
8. LA Times - Cool, slow West Coast shit. Sounds like a DA track. (EP on the beat)
9. Ricky - Up there on Games Top 10 tracks (I prefer this type of shit from Khalil, not Drug test)
10. Monsters in my Head - Some deep Makaveli type shit. Straight heat
11. Lost - Some emotional shit from Game, he always comes correct when goes in this direction.
12. Dead - West Coast Banger right here (produced by 1500)
13. Out of Towner - Cool 90s West Coast feel (produced by Terrace Martin)
14. RIP Story - On some Slick Rick shit but keeps it WC at the same time, laidback shit (Nottz on the beat)
15. The Ocean - Cool Tropical feel. Games flow is on point all the way through, cool hook
16. Undefeated - Beat is familiar to Busta's track with Nas on Big Bang (cant remember the name) Game flows all the way through, nice Aftermath sound to it.
17. California - Perfect way to end the album. Smoothe beat, Smoothe Flow - beat switches up after 1st verse. (Anyone know who produced this?)

This shit would be classic if Game put it out like this but everyone knows Jimmy has the last word.
Just my opinon ;D

Great album.  Finally a west coast album with top notch production. All those independent albums that came out this year (WC, Jay rock, dj quik, kendrick, etc) sounded like ass.  Like they were recorded in someone's garage.  Being on a major does have it's advantages.  2,4,7,11,12,17,18 are the best songs.

Been listening to the album throughout the day...and its a mixed ass bag. There are some great tracks on here. My favorites are Ricky, Martians vs. Goblins, The City and Born in the Trap. Some of his best work for sure. There's also some bullshit songs on here. The southern songs suck (How did Paramedics and Speakers on Blast make it onto the album?). The songs about girls mostly suck (Hello and All the Way Gone are corny sad attempts at generic pop songs, but I liked Good Girls Go Bad. Probably because it didn't try to sound like every other song about girls). Red Nation was weak. Some people hated Pot of Gold but I actually thought it was okay. Drug Test didn't belong on this album, but Game was probably happy to have anything with Dre on it, even if it was weak. The Good, the Bad, the Ugly wasn't bad, just pretty boring for a story track. Heavy Artillery was whatever. It ended on a good note though, with some solid songs.

So basically Game shows he can still make good music, but he's not anywhere close to album of the year. And apparently having Dr. Dre as an executive producer didn't really help at all. I wonder if the version of R.E.D. that Interscope rejected was better or worse than this.

Dope album from Game, Def better than LAX but not better than D.A, But RED is a great album as i knew it would be, even when game was testings the waters and throwing out singles that evryone hated, snd evryone said RED would be a poppy Pharrel I knew Game would come thru on album which it....Another dope album  from Game, and lot of ppl are making there own RED album not because its bad album but because he put out such qauility mixtapes for past year. And im sure alot of the dope mixtape tracks were meant for RED at a time, Buy RED great album and support a west artist that drops free qaulity mixtapes

Today is the day where everybody has to go back & bump L.A.X., come back & somehow make an excuse how R.E.D. is equal or a progression to that album.

It's not even close. I'll do it like this, take the five best songs off R.E.D., then I'll let you pick any five songs off L.A.X. (you can throw Touchdown, Gentleman's Affair, etc) & the L.A.X. five will always be better.

L.A.X. is better than R.E.D.

It's not a matter of taste; it's more a certified fact. Anyone whose a fan of Hip Hop & not a Game groupie holding on to that he can still make a dope album, four albums in can see that.

Rapsodie touched on it. This album has no direction. There are like 5 gangbangin' songs, 5 songs for bitches, 5 Southern sounding songs and 4 Dre skits to give some of you guys mad chills. It sounds like he threw a bunch of shit together.

I've had a few days to let the album sink in. I think it's a solid effort with a few songs that take time to grow on you. My favorite track at the moment might be Speakers on Blast. Mars really came through with a funky, layered, feel good beat, and I can't think of better features than Big Boi and E-40 to fit that mood. There's a few tracks on here that I sense he was forced to put on by the label, which is unfortunate. Game's at his best (and most other artists as well) when he's not trying to do a track to fit a certain mold or satisfy someone else. Good examples are One Night, Ol' English, Letter to the King, Let Us Live, etc..

Game's never been a super-conscious rapper, and that's why a lot of people who gravitate toward that type of hip-hop don't really like him. His strengths are the vocal performance, delivery, and mood, and occasionally very well crafted wordplay. There's nothing wrong with that at all because I enjoy his music more for the particular atmosphere it conveys rather than a specific message he is trying to tell. He definitely comes through with great storytelling tracks on occasion though.

It's not a "classic" or whatever other absurd label people want to always throw on new releases from anticipated artists. If you go in expecting something earth-shattering you'll rarely ever be satisfied. I think it's unfair to the artist and unfair to your own enjoyment of music. The best way to experience an album is go in without expectations and let the artist take you wherever he/she wants. I also see rating albums pointless because your opinion towards anything in life is always changing and impossible to quantify. You either enjoy it at that moment or you don't.

DA seemed a bit more 'west coast' themed to me, no way Interscope would put out an album sounding like that now. Guaranteed Slim The Mobster has all the next level gangsta style beats that coulda made RED like Documentary and not LAX Pt. 2.

Agreed, DA does have a more west coast feel to it then any of his albums. Game seems to follow more of a formula as far as production though. Where as DA and LAX had JR Rotem on them alot, this album has Mars featured heavily. LAX had alot of guest appearances, so does RED, and like you said it does have a very LAX Pt 2 feel to it, which is cool with me.

I've tried giving game a chance i've listened to all 3 of his first albums and numerous times but he just don't do it for me. His raspy voice gets annoying to me after awhile and hearing dre's name come out of his mouth every other sentence just gets old. Not to say other rappers don't repeat the same stuff over n over again im just not down with the name dropping as almost the entire content on every album.

Ok i'v listened to it quite a few time's now, and my verdict is:

DA > DOC > LAX > RED.

RED has some great tracks no doubt, and i even think Ricky would have fitted pefectly on the Doctor's Adovcate, the quality of that track is that high. But i think LAX is better overall album.

I find the production on RED pretty boring, it's just missing that spice that his first 2 albums had.

i really think he fucked this up, i mean he's released some great material recently: Purp & Patron, The Hangover, Hoodmorning, Brakelights etcc, but the track selection for this album is all over the place, the second half of the album seems like it was rushed n they just threw anything on there, alsot the dre skits are uneccessary and bring nothing at all to the album.

Mars production is all over this album and i really dont think it does anything good for the album... it would have been much better if the mars tracks were replaced by cool & dre produced tracks.

I still believe he should have ran with "The Kill" for his single, just due to the tracks production, it had mass appeal, more so than the red nation sample, and just a great song in general.

for the time he's been working on this album, it really ain't what it should have been. i mean this album was totally recorded over 4 times during the past 2 & abit years.

Game just needs to stick who he works well with production wise, i mean his history with DJ Khalil, E.P & JR Rotem, all those tracks are flawless and they always seem to bring out the best in game.

but as it stands, this album is a major letdown as a whole, and this is coming from a guy who's seen him live 3 times in concert, and i own all his albums and have hard copies of some of his early mixtapes too, so in no way am i a hater. i'v give a honest and fair review here.

Yup, It's official for me. This album is his worst! I wasn't expecting this at all. I mean it has some good cuts (The City, M v G, The Good, B& Ugly, Ricky) and a couple more but has too many weak tracks. The southern beat tracks are fucking trash. I don't know why Rick Ross is in the album or how those tracks made the album. Too many R&B tracks. He has Chris Brown, Mario, Lloyd, Nelly Furtado all in the album? Too much filler. The album has no direction or structure. It's definitely the worst IMO.

I don't know why Rick Ross is in the album or how those tracks made the album. Too many R&B tracks. He has Chris Brown, Mario, Lloyd, Nelly Furtado all in the album? Too much filler. The album has no direction or structure. It's definitely the worst IMO.

As a Game fan, it is hard for me to admit  :P but this album as a whole is weak.

The City and Ricky are really dope ! Sounds like tracks that would be off of the Documentary. M v G and Good Girls are alright too, but there is no direction whatsoever. Though it took over 2 years to make, it sounds like a project that started off well but was then rushed to be completed.

The budget for this album must have been huge considering how many songs/mixtapes came out since L.A.X.

I agree. Its like he rushed it. He figured he had some BIG NAME artist on some songs and threw them in. The best thing about the album is that he gave some of the new cats a chance to shine (kendrick, Tyler) but this shit was weak. Some songs are real nice but the album as a whole is weak.

I agree with most and I'm also a huge Game fan. Bought all his albums and most of his mixtapes but this album isn't cohesive whatsoever! It reminds me of Before I Self Destruct a bit how it starts off incredible and just completely dies down second half (minus 2-3 tracks)

I was really hoping that after such a long ass wait this album would be put together and sequenced almost perfectly. something tells me Jimmy iovine's bitch ass had a lot to do with it cause apparently they kept rejecting the album until a few months back when Interscope finally gave it the green light. There's too much watered down bullshit!

On another note the good tracks on it are fuckin epic and because Game has given us all this free quality (for the most part) music I'm still gonna cop the album and support! I just wish they had of sequenced the tracks a bit better and took off the forced bitch tracks.

either way it was somewhat of a good effort 3/5

I highly doubt he had a huge budget. Probably a fair one. But you have to keep in mind Game has a lot of connections in the industry so he probably got a lot of features and beats for free (or a 'ill do your album if you do mine' type of thing). The label probably only paid for features from guys like Drake, Wale, Mario, Nelly Furtado and shit like that. Can't imagine Kendrick, E-40, Weezy, CB, Snoop, or Rick Ross charging him.

Who's the Executive Producer? No way it could be Dre. Dont really think pharrell had much to do with the final tracklist (in terms of overseeing). Which leaves Mars. Bad choice in my opinion. should have had more familiar producers like, EP, J Rotem, more Khalil, and no Hi-tek? (which is a first), Scott Storch, Focus, Nottz.
I hope it sells well otherwise he just made corny album for no reason

Game has some shitty re-play value. Shit is ridiculous i've listend to the RED album for 2 days and it's absolutely unlistenable to me now( born in the trap is an exception) ..who else has this problem with game tracks?

Watch the throne only gets stronger the  more you listen to it, that seems to be the difference between game and great rappers. RED album could have bangin but somebody totally fucked this up. It was just shockingly dissapointing, I was hyped for this motherfucker.

However, Game does have 2 legit classics in Documentary and Doctors Advocate.

Y do you hate on Game for RED for releasing a great album, but masturbate when Crooked I releases a freestyle??

Go to some other boards and there is concensus in a wide variety of music forums that this will be up there for rap album of the year...maybe its not a classic like the Chronic, but its still a great album

Funnily enough, on SOHH where Game usually gets little love, people are feeling R.E.D. On here where a lot of Game fans hang out, people are disappointed. In definintely in the disappointed Game fan category. It's a bad look when one of your mixtapes (P&P) is better than your actual album.

Album's nothing special for me - def the worst in Game's discography and average when it comes to other West Coast albums released this year. Best tracks are:

- The City
- Put Of Gold
- Born In The Trap

Rest is average at best. And LMFAO @ folks who said this is the "album of the year" - "L.A.X." sounds like a classic compared to this shit, lol.

It's a shame he don't have his "OWN" style & decides on mimicking other rapper's.
(You can hear it & it's rather embarrassing when he does it, IMO)

listened to the album a lot last week, and I have to say it is really bad. His worst album by far, and even the best tracks are not that good.

I only like Ricky and Born in tha Trap.

Everything else is bad or really really bad. I'm giving this 2/10, dissapointment of the year so far. And don't get me wrong, I'm not a ''hater'', I'm a big fan of game, I always liked his ear for beats and the way he could create a complete album that sounded good. On DA and Documentary I'd never skip a song, DA is a personal classic.

But man, I just can't understand anyone claiming this is a good album. Game can do muchhhhhh better.

Gave it at least 5 spins so far and I've come to the conclusion that this is the worst Game album (right behind LAX).  Same ol' boring flow and gangsta rap subjects heard over and over and over.  The Game is irrelevant in music to me right now.  Someone didn't give Game the memo that gangsta rap died years ago.  Only highlight on this album to me was Kendrick.  I was looking forward to Tyler's verse, but it was disappointing to say the least.  Beats were complete trash, aside from a handful of decent, at best, beats (The City, Martians & Goblins, Heavy Artillery, Born In The Trap).  Ricky had the best production, but here we go again with the same ol' boys in the hood stories we've heard since the early 90's.  Blah blah blah.  The whole ironic thing to me about the Game right now is that he thinks Lil B is the worst rapper out, but Im Gay is light years ahead of RED.  Game lost and is now in the same irrelevant place in hip-hop as 50 cent.

Another review after listening to the album a few more times.

The City 4/5
Drug Test  3.75/5
Martians Vs. Goblins - 4/5
Red Nation - 3.5/5
Good Girls Go Bad - 3.75/5
Ricky - 5/5
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly - 3.5/5.
Heavy Artillery - 4/5 (really slept on this first listen)
Paramedics - 2.75/5
Speakers on Blast - 3.75/5
Hello - 2/5
All the Way Gone - 2.5/5
Pot of Gold - 3/5
All I Know - 2/5
Born in the Trap - 3.75/5
Mama Knows - 2/5
California Dream - 3.5/5

What a horrible/average end to the album, I enjoy 2 of the last 9 tracks (speakers on blast & born in the trap)

Drug Test (dre is still the king of the west coast)
Martians vs Goblins
Good Girls Gone Bad (i'd like to hear Jay-Z on it)
The Good The Bad The Ugly

enough with "your ideal" tracklists!

Unfortunately when you have a guy leak 3-4 mixtapes that exceed his studio album, it's gonna happen. If/when Hangover leaks I'm probably gonna make my own version of RED

I tried to listen to the album a few times, and it's way overhyped by the game.  I took about 2 songs off RED, and a handful from the mixtapes to make my own album.  I'm not sure what The Game and Jimmy were thinking on this one.  L.A.X and his prior albums are way better.  I think he had more control of this release and it shows.  No Scott Storch, way to much Mars.  The game is rapping like Lil Wayne and Kayne in most songs.

The City is a hit.  After that it just gets messy with Lil Wayne and all that.

Really don't understand why some people like Speakers on Blast. It's got the most generic attempt at a southern beat possible with that godawful and played out "hey" clap everywhere.
i like it.

why do you like Pot of gold? i thought you hated I need a doctor: similar sound

??? Two songs having a singer on the hook doesn't make them similar. Neither the sound nor the content is similar.

:loco: more like on a spaceship. sonically quik's album creams anything since his last or maybe relapse.

I always liked his ear for beats and the way he could create a complete album that sounded good. On DA and Documentary I'd never skip a song [...]. Game can do muchhhhhh better.
Exactly.
That's what I used to love about The Game : even though he had nothing to rap about, he had a GREAT ear for beats. His songs sounded good and were always tight instrumentally.
It's a shame he doesn't have the same quality standards anymore.

there are opinions outside of this forum. Some website gave it 5 stars. Now here's hip hop dx's review
http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/album-reviews/id.1743/title.game-the-red-album

4/5 (4.41) from the fans on the site

Many perceive Jayceon Taylor to be the loose cannon of Hip Hop, and they might be right. Equal parts of passion and madness, the trajectory of Game's career has included serving as the mouthpiece for G-Unit, being the mouthpiece against G-Unit, and preserving Dr. Dre's often doubted post-Detox legacy. Game’s first three albums possessed different attributes of the West Coast emcee’s personality. The R.E.D. Album is an amalgam of all three, where Game’s penchant for punchy, honest verses proves he has several more miles of music before bowing out.

The album runs a little long in length (almost an hour and a half), with all but four songs having at least one feature. Dr. Dre’s commentary is dispersed throughout, with four short segues detailing Game’s three-plus decades of life.

“The City” opens, where Game speaks candidly about his past label situations (“I was stressed the fuck out, torn between Aftermath, Geffen, Interscope…”) while hinting at future ones (“Either I’m crazy or / The Black Slim Shady or / could that be the reason that Baby said he would pay me more?”). Kendrick Lamar provides a near-spoken word hook before blacking out at the end with what sounds like a pledge of allegiance to Game. While any other rap vet opposite Kendrick would pose a balance of teacher and student, Game’s insatiable hunger on the mic makes it sound like a two-student operation.

The radio-friendly “Drug Test”  with Dre, Snoop and Sly oozes mainstream West Coast, but is overshadowed by the double Lil Wayne follow-ups “Martians Vs. Goblins”  and “Red Nation” . Weezy provides only the hooks to both, which may be not enough for some, but plenty to others. The shit-talking on “Martians Vs. Goblins” has no limit, with Game suggesting he had sex with Erykah Badu on the set of “Window Seat” (which he calls “that nekkid video shoot”) with lines like “I was suckin’ on that pussy like it was Wonton soup.” OFWGKTA’s Tyler, the Creator chimes in on the track, sending a subtle shot to Chris Brown (“Now my future’s brighter than Christopher’s new haircut”). He even nudges Game with, “And that shit was expected like Jayceon whenever he name drops,” to which Game interjects, “Fuck you, Tyler.”

At times on R.E.D. Game switches the sound of his voice, like on his solo track “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” where he sounds like a gruff Dr. Dre mixed with Biggie. Could it be a personality switch or just a change in tone? Who knows. Other tracks where Game rides dolo include “Ricky,” an ode to Morris Chestnut’s fallen character in Boyz N the Hood. The song begins with an audio clip of the Hood’s fateful scene, but as Game’s voice enters about a minute in, he shoots, “Blood of a slave, heart of a giant / Had to leave Aftermath, Dre said I was too defiant.” The direction of the song is a little confusing, but serves as a podium for Game’s unquestionable honesty.

Features from Rick Ross on “Heavy Artillery” (with Beanie Sigel) and Young Jeezy on “Paramedics” both showcase the rappers spitting like they want a record deal, perhaps to compete with Game’s aforementioned hunger. The exception to that formula is Wale, who on “All the Way Gone” with Mario, chucks the deuces to his old style and glides along in his new MMG-drawl. Nelly Furtado turns soulful on “Mama Knows”, while Chris Brown’s breathy hook on “Pot of Gold”  would arrive only second to Drake singing the hook on “Good Girls Go Bad” …if he actually sang it. Drizzy rhymes on the track as the counter-balance of Game discussing the “good” girls and Drake talking the “bad.”

Considering The R.E.D. Album is close to three years in the making, it should be the tight work that it is. Despite its delay, it’s by no means a swan song, contractually and musically. R.E.D. is a lot of many things, only adding to the anticipation already for Game’s final offering to Interscope.

The sad shit is the mixtapes had 14+ songs that were better then his album.  The beats are flat and he's trying to rap like Lil Wayne, Nas.  Just a sad album.  Lil Wayne whining on Red Nation is a fucking joke.  Anyone that thinks this is better then his first 3 albums needs to go to the doctor to get their hearing checked (and not Dr. Dre).  You can't spin this album straight through.  Way too much Mars.

Seriously. Isn't everyone here always saying how the 90s was the best era for music? No rap fans even knew what the fuck bitrate meant back then. We were recording radio rips on cassette tapes and bumping that shit. A lot of those classic records from that time aren't even available in perfect quality to this day. Guess what? The shit is still classic and it bumps. Yeah crystal clear quality enhances the sound, but it doesn't make a good song bad or a bad song good.

Ok. So if you ask me. First half is great and when Paramedics comes on the whole thing stops. And Mars does not equal 1500 And Nothing in quality.

The problem with this album wasn't the lack of quality material but just terrible executive producing. Thinking of all the leftovers and what not, he could've had an amazing album. Oh and Mars.

TBH that's always been one of Game's problems IMO. I'm sure industry politics plays a part in it too but i always feel like that's almost always the case with him and his albums.

I still think Doctor's Advocate was his best piece when it comes to exec producing it and suprisingly it was him and his team doing it by themselves at the time not Dre, Pharrel, Mars or anyone else.

yo WTF is cdr records??

No one has noticed that not only is there NO Aftermath logo anywhere, there's not even a Interscope label anywhere!!

CDR or whatever it is records is the logo on the album, never even heard of them..what happened to being back on Aftermath

Executive Produced by Pharrell Williams
Co Executive produced by Game & mars....what happened to Dr. Dre?

The album for me has been a let down, sounds like a good mixtape. I enjoy 4-5 tracks (really 2-3 but i know few others will grow on me). Way too many fucking features, i bought a GAME album I dont want to hear other rappers, especially when 3 tracks in a row start with a different rapper...I mean he has (correct me if im wrong) one verse in heavy artillery...how do u fuck up a drake song?? that beat is so so bad and wrong for that track. I've only given it 1 1/2 spins (and havent listned to it high yet) but i rememember how i felt the first spin I gave D.A. and LAX (which i wasnt a big fan of either, but at least for first spin it had some real hard tracks), I mean what's the theme and direction of the R.E.D. album??
Title: Re: Game - The R.E.D. Album [Official Discussion Thread]

After a couple of spins...I like the album, copped it (Game is maybe my favorite mainstream artist)...for me it sounds like LAX part 2, is it better/worse than LAX? I need to listen more to tell that.

So yeah, album is nice, the production is good and it flows well throughout the album (if you remove the dre interludes, they are so unneccessary!)...some tracks feel like they dont belong to the album (paramedics, heavy artillery, speakers on blast...all nice tracks but they dont feel like they belong to Game's album)

so...worth copping in my opinion, not his best work of course, but not a bad album...

Edit: Yeah and this album has only maybe two HUGE tracks (city and ricky)...and when comparing to LAX, that album has, like, 5 of those....but overall comparing, the difference is not that big in my opinion....

album is decent but at the same time its disappointing because of how long it took and all the hype & mixtapes...only one track on here i would really ride to (Martians Vs. Goblins)...album is not really cohesive cause it seems like they are trying to please too many different type of fans...with all the leaked tracks and mixtapes it would have been easy to make a better album...

Since I've had 2 days to rock with RED ill drop a quick review...

1. Dr. Dre Intro
Nice intro. This album has a movie like feel to it so this is like the opening credits. Is it necessary? No but its less than 30 seconds...get over it!

2. The City (feat. Kendrick Lamar)
Omg Cool & Dre made a great beat?! Game sounds pissed the fuck off. This is the grimiest we've heard him since his 03-04 come up (and even then he didn't have this kinda fire). Kendrick Lamar steps in with an unorthodox hook but it works. Then at the end of the song he blacks the fuck out for a few bars: acapella! I'm really starting to like this dude (*pause, no chamilitary)

3. Drug Test (feat. Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg)
As much as I dislike this Nate Dogg clone, I must admit his hook is sick as fuck on this one. But Game releasing what is clearly an incomplete leftover and having the audacity to put it this early in the album is a slap in the face to all his fans. Sly is the only reason ill bother replaying this song

4. Martians Vs. Goblins (feat. Tyler The Creator & Lil Wayne)
Game sets the tone for this sinister joint. This is my first time listening to Tyler the Creator, dude has a sick voice and smooth delivery. Too bad this awful chorus was in between their verses. Oh speaking of wack Lil Wayne hooks...

5. Red Nation (feat. Lil Wayne)
We've all heard it and we're probably all sick of it. Game hits us with 3 typical Game verses over another wack Cool & Dre beat (the "The City" honeymoon didn't last long). Weezy is back for another garbage hook with his just-got-his-hair-braided-in-jail voice

6. Dr. Dre Pt. 1
Intros don't bother me but I hate skits in the middle of the album. Unchecked on itunes

7. Good Girls Gone Bad (feat. Drake)
Surprisingly Game and Drake actually contrasted each other very well on this track. I love the voice sample too...too bad Cool & Dre fuckin suck! I wish Kanye or Just Blaze wouldve produce this joint, they could've turned it into something special. Kudos to Game for that last 4-bar verse to lead right into the next song

8. Ricky
Wow! My only complaints are 1. I wish it was longer and 2. I wish Khalil used that gorgeous trumpet more. This shit is so scenematic. Game went the fuck in on this one! Next time Boyz N the Hood is re-released they better include this as a bonus feature.

9. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
Wake me up when this song goes off...

10. Heavy Artillery (feat. Rick Ross & Beanie Sigel)
...ok I'm back. All 3 beasts go in on this one! Raw beat and dope sample on the chorus. Has a grimey underground feel to it.

11. Paramedics (feat. Young Jeezy)
I was looking forward to skipping this considering I never liked Jeezy. But surprisingly this isn't bad. Wouldve been better off on Jeezy's album tho. I'm just relieved this wasn't as awful as his collabo with Luda on L.A.X.

12. Speakers on Blast (feat. E-40 & Big Boi)
Funny no one mentioned how sick Game's hook is. Crack music right here, ill def have this one on repeat. Game sounds like he couldve fight in just swell with the prime years Dungeon Family. 2 dope Game verses, a nice Big Boi verse, then E-40...uhh thank God for cool edit pro.

13. Hello (feat. Lloyd)
This song shows why I don't take dubcc-ers reviews serious. You guys made this song sound horrible. This is a cool lil song for the ladies. Definetely Game's best effort for the ladies considering his previous efforts (Don't Worry and Around the World) were unfocused and full of name dropping.

Edit: oops I forgot Touchdown so this is 2nd

14. All the Way Gone (feat. Mario & Wale)
Mars laced some smooth melodic shit I just don't think this was meant to be a girl song. Game's first verse was dope and Mario did a damn good job on the hook. Probably shouldve been a Mario f/ Game song on a Mario album. Still not a bad effort other than the Wale verse (I seriously can't listen to this dude)

15. Pot of Gold (feat. Chris Brown)
This is like My Life 2.0. I'm surprised the radio didn't accept this song, they fell in love with My Life because it was refreshing to hear something real in the rotation, I guess lightning didn't strike twice. Game hits us with some nice bars (still wish he could stop namedropping and focus on his own life on these type of tracks) and Chris Brown's alluring hook is what sucks you in here (*pause, no chamilitary)

16. Dr. Dre Pt.2
Yeah at this point even I'm annoyed with these Dre skits

17. All I Know (feat. Luu Breeze)
"This is that shit right here, this is that shit" - Will Smith. 1 if my favorites on this album. Boi-1da gave Game some crack and Game went in. I just wish that other Boi-1da produced track didn't make the final cut too =(

18. Born in the Trap
Wtf @ the hook? Beat is straight, Game goes hard and sounds like the Illmatic Nas. But is it me or does the hook so und out of place? Sad part is at the end of the song Premier does his trademark voice scratching...that shouldve been the hook! Otherwise we have a damn good track here.

Edit: I just mixed the "you're now rockin with the best" scratches in as the hook. Ill upload that soon

19. Mama Knows (feat. Nelly Furtado)
Game comes correct. I like the beat but wtf Pharell? Soundclick producers have made shit like this for years. I was interested in seeing how Nelly Furtado sounded on this, and although she doesn't sound bad, this track is meant for Amel Larrieux's smooth sultry vocals. Fuck I wish that girl got more respect, ahh well

20. California Dream
Better than "Like Father, Like Son". Unlike that song, this one he's actually focused on the subject at the hand and not just namedropping. You might have to be a parent to really feel this one so I understand if the average listener can't gravitate to this one. The 2nd verse reminds me so much of the day my girl went into labor. That audio clip of his girl giving birth was unnecessary, I already removed it on cool edit

21. Dr. Dre Outro
Ugh. Ill be attaching this to the end of the intro so the album can flow better

Overall: 3.5/5
Some dope material here with a few fillers/questionable tracks and some weird sequencing. I know this review should be focused on the music that is here but I can't help but think about those last 3 mixtapes...there's no excuse for records like Graveyard, I'm Home, This Way, or The Town to not make the cut over tracks like Drug Test, All the Way Gone, Paramedics, or The Good, the Bad, the Ugly. Hell I would even take Bottles & Rockin J's over Drug Test.

And for the haters that keep saying "this is Game's worst album" - you're right. But that's actually a testament to how dope his previous material was. 100 yell

Most of the songs you mentioned were recorded right before the album came out so it could be the labels idea or just Game trying to cater to a wider audience (like on LAX) which usually isn't good. I think Game needs to realize that he's the type of guy that needs to focus on his own core fanbase and not a bunch of pop fans cuz they usually just go by sales, word of mouth and popularity. Plus Game isn't the best songwriter so it's hard for him to make songs for them so he should just at least try to cater to his core base (like on Doctor's Advocate).

I got the album today from work and listened to it on the way home. The album is fire! Besides 3 tracks (Paramedics Feat. Young Jeezy, Hello Feat. Lloyd & All The Way Gone Feat. Wale) the rest of the songs are awesome, I don't get all the hate.

And I agree, I think you need to have kids to get California Dreams.

Easily 3.5 almost 4 out of 5 8)

tracks i skip after a couple of listens since tuesday are..

paramedics (never could stand jeezy and game has jeezys dick so far down his throat on this one he actually sounds like him)

hello (im a big lloyd fan but even this was unbearable. very uninspired and way too simple and cheesy)

pot of gold (sounds like some BoB radio shit. that chorus was made for emo kids to hold each other)

tracks that i sometimes skip are...

drug test (cant believe THIS is what we get from game, dre, snoop and khalil)

speakers on blast (beat is too weak for these 3)

california dream (too long and kinda boring. too bad cause the beat is sick)

my personal favs are..

all i know

the city

martians vs goblins

born in the trap

i cant believe how many people haven't mentioned ricky as one of the best tracks. to me its one of his best in years. maybe its a nostalgia thing for me...I'm thinking alot of kids havent seen boyz in the hood, or maybe saw it 15 years too late, and it came off dated so they don't care....but after i saw lunatic ask who 'Ricky' was in his review, it made me realize that its probably the former, and thus takes away some of the impact...

RED is much better than C4. C4 is just random raps, random punchlines, random album. Game's album sounds more cohesive. Biggest problem is the terrible sequence of tracks from Jeezy one to Pot Of Gold. Everything else is good. Replay value is surprisingly good. So far.

Album at thrid and L.A.X. being last. But I still thought L.A.X. took a fat shit on Carter III, Blueprint 3 & anything else that was released at the time. So that goes to show you where the other ones stand. Im just sayin.

So it's been 2 weeks and this cd has grown on me since my initial spin.  The Dre interludes are useless, the Jeezy song sucks, as does the Nelly Furtado song.  So does the Drake song.

"All I Know" is cool except for the hook.  The Lloyd song grew on me and so did "Drug Test".

Overall, I think it slightly edges out L.A.X.

LOL at hype. I mean yeah there's alot of "hype" around R.E.D. huh? SMH

You do know that people have different opinions just because you expect another DOC or DA doesn't mean other people can't enjoy it or even dislike it like you. By you saying "Any true Game fan honestly would know this is shit" it's obvious that one of the reasons you don't like it is because it doesn't sound like DA or DOC, so you want him to follow a pattern which usually is what westcoast fans do and probably why westcoast isn't succeeding.

Basically anyone in rap not putting out mediocre mixtapes. Don't get me wrong, there's a few heaters on each. But as a whole, every one of those projects is weak. Game has spent way too much time this year making southern tracks, pop tracks, and having wack features. He has zero direction. I love songs like The City where he not only makes a great song but brings in a great future. But for every good song he has made this year, there's two wackass ones. For every great feature like Kendrick Lamar, there's 3 Lil Wayne/Gucci Mane/T-Pain collabs. I mean seriously?

Album starts strong. But after about seven or eight songs the album completely nose dives in quality. Reminds me of one of snoops bloated mixed bag albums where the artist just crams as much material as he can because he has no vision for the album. The throw everything and see what sticks technique. While the album has some definite great songs, it also has a lot of wack ones. I think after lax and red now back to back it's safe to say game has no direction as an artist and needs someone to hold his hand and shape the album. Otherwise he's just going to be like snoop continually releasing disjointed messes

I agree with the zero direction - but if any artist threw together 100 tracks in the same year, best believe there's not going to be much direction.

Wow is a horrible song. It's basically a Gucci Mane song featuring Game doing a Gucci Mane impression. Unless you're a Gucci mane fan, you should think its horrible. And I am not a fan of Gucci Mane obviously.

Can You Believe It....what is there to like about that song? Game's lyrics? Negative. Birdman on the hook and doing a verse? Negative. Wayne's corny punchlines? Negative. I think by now you should realize I'm not a fan of trap.

If you think that shit is dope, well....its my opinion you have a horrible taste in music. I was under the impression most of Game's fans weren't into that shit. I see people here shitting on Gucci Mane and Wayne on the daily. I don't waste my time shitting on it, but I don't pretend like its dope either.

With all the music game released this year i'd say 85% of it was dope. I heard some game lines this year that made me just want to change the track, i like all i know off "RED" but always  :-\ when i hear "i aint ya average mothafucka im a mothafuckkinggg G"

I've been low key bumpin' "Wow" but never bothered to even mention it here since I know 90% of this forum don't fuck with Gucci, and that song is West coast influenced more than anything just listen to the beat, you can only say it's "trap" just cuz of the Gucci verse/hook

plus Game is doing a Gucci impression. It might as well be a Gucci song.

lol I'll admit when Game is impersonating rappers on other songs but that was def not one of them

It's a damn shame that everytime I come to this forum, somebody is hating on Game. Ain't this supposed to be a Westcoast forum? He gets more hate at home than he does anywhere else. Yeah, the album falls off by the end but it hasn't left my stereo except to compare to DA. And I'm on the Eastcoast. Everbody on this forum knows that he can make a song by himself with his own flow. I look at him branching out as being CREATIVE. Anybody can rap the same over and over again and be boring as hell. Anybody saying he's copying artists evidently hasn't listened to his mixtapes when he was rapping BY HIMSELF switching up tones and flow. Game has his ways but he's definately an above average artist who gets respect over here.

I guess but that's your opinion though, doesn't make it a fact. Neither someone saying that Game has the best discography in 2011, there's no facts. It's all opinion. Krit doesn't even have that much material out this year, Currensy yeah he does but i don't think it's better. But again it's all opinion so there's no wrong or right.

replay value no good, except for the city, song with premo, and the joint with tyler (for me) but a equal rapping like everybody that's on the song with him is straight garbage and some ol bill walton shit, his fans know it but you know how that go. the beats he spit on that matter especially if he rocc em right, people who hate on shit just because it's a south beat is lame,it's all about the execution of the song, his performance on the muthafuccas. he's not like a real wacc as rapper it's just he don't believe in himself, the big talk he does about how dope he is,the best album of the year blah blah, is all hot air, cause if it was true he wouldn't be trying to be like whoever the hot cats are at the time or need this much star participation on his albums. Just put them blacc wall equals on in them spots, and show people why you deserve to be the top selling solo mc in cali right now yell

see this is that scrotum gulping shit again. ain't nothing wrong with being creative, but when you jump on songs with muthafuccas and you copying the style of your guess on that song that's some WACC ASS SHIT BOTTOM FUCC'N LINE! Being creative is coming up with topics and flows of your own and not trying to be like others, simple shit my equal. He has some talent no doubt, but not displaying it when it counts don't get you no points. you speaking bout what he does on his mixtapes? man that's like lebron balling during the regular season yet laying an egg when it counts. You say yeah he got skills but i wouldn't put my chipper jones on that equal no more till he proves me wrong haha simple shit.

He's making doe taking care of his fam I love that, hope it continues, but if the muthafucca makes bullshit(in my opinion) it will get stressed on a forum when talking bout said product. He's the top artist out here right now,as far as sales and attention go so he needs to bring it,I mean cause after awhile he can turn out like snoop. Yeah the dog will always get love but how many people still believes he's gonna come with it on his albums now! yell

K.R.I.T. has two mixtapes out and an album coming. And even if he had dropped only one project, his music being better than Game's would make it a better discography. Game can drop a million mixtapes, if none of them are dope its not an impressive discography.

No it can't since we're talking about DISCOGRAPHY. Doesn't mean that Game automatically wins because he might have more but it makes it not compareable. My point was who's to say that Krit's music has been better? That might be your opinion but not the next man so how can you say that someone has the best discography of 2011 and act like it's facts?

Games mixtapes have been met with mixed reviews and that's saying it nicely. Where as krit you can go on any hip hop forum and see his tapes being universally praised. Big difference. It's like saying doggfather is better then doggystyle because a couple people think so, while ignoring the vast majority.

LOL @ counting all of those mixtapes. People have been saying I'm a hater for J. Cole, but even Cole has a better discography in 2011 than Game.

Shit, Kanye & Jay put out one album & they have a better discography than Game this year. Same goes for Kendrick Lamar.

Just because you put out 50 songs & 45 of them are below average, doesn't mean you have a "good discography". Quality > Quantity.

you are just the biggest Game-hater in the world...and the whole forum knows that...and you know that too...its interesting that you saying 45 of 50 Game songs are below average but in the same sentence you saying Jay & Kanye album shits on all the Game shit...if 45 Game songs are below average than Watch The Throne is garbage...

- The City
- The Hangover
- Ricky
- The Kill
- Lost
- Undefeated
- Monsters In My Head
- Violin
- Im On
- The Trap
- Born In The Trap

so you tellin me that Watch The Throne is better than this?
you tellin me that at least 5 tracks of that are below average?
you are really one delusional hater!
also talking that shit "oh i almost forgot that this shit dropped" but you be writing about Game every fukkin day...if you dont like Game & his music cool than say it but not like 365 days in a year...there isnt a day you dont post shit about him...did he fukked you girl or what is this about? you are really one sad guy  :'(

^First of all, if you had any common sense & weren't actually upset by what I said, you'd understand the exaggeration in there. Obviously I didn't LITERALLY mean 45 out of 50 songs were below average.

Now, getting more serious, you just named 11 songs. Slap yourself in the face if you think any were "classics". So lets say he dropped 50 songs (a guess), you named the best 11. That's a pretty awful percentage of better songs. I know you'll ring off another 10 pretty average, but better than the worst just to defend Game. But in reality here, they weren't anything special.

As for Jay & Kanye, they made an 14 (counting bonus songs) track album. & if you put it up against the random 11 songs from different mixtapes & his album, "Watch The Throne" is clearly a better album. I'd say it's more consistent for their album to be better than what you just named, opposed to having to take 11 random songs he made throughout the year & still to come up short to their album.

Like you have to be joking right now or maybe you're just one of Game's bigger stans around here.

No Church In The Wild, New Day, That's My Bitch, Primetime, Made In America, Murder To Excellence, Illest Motherfucker Alive, Why I Love You, The Joy, Gotta Have It? C'mon son. I don't need random mixtapes & demos this nigga had to make because he couldn't give the label a product they were willing to put their money behind, in order to give you a dope grouping of songs.

so basicallly what somebody is saying on here is,that since game put out all these projects (which are mostly songs that didn't make the networth red album) and krit hasn't matched his volume of work this year his work can't be superior to mr red nation? you muthafuccas here will try to say anything to make this guy win hahaha. i give him props for having a number 1 album, and that was good placement by his label giving him that release date, give him props on feeding his fam,on that front much success to mr red nation. but you muthafuccas is smoking cracc if you think this guy got the most incredible work this year. Just say he's your favorite and ride with that yell
