Well, song was made for a comedy movie sound-track unless Cube just heard and chose it, what a great west-coast soundtrack that was compiled..should of been all rap though...title track also ignited the Cypress beef.

''Buck-buck-buck-booyakasha!''

I think i have heard Krs-1 vocals sampled on hip hop hooks/background more then any other rapper.

Man, ya'll supposed to be Snoop's fans for all these years and you can't show any love for Snoop in a moment like this??  You gotta prove you are superfans by saying nothing is good enough for you??

I wasn't a fan of Missionary and the last Snoop album I really got into was Reincarnation.

But this was a once in a lifetime performance!  This was a great moment for Snoop.  I think it was legendary.  Like one of Snoop's top 10 moments of his career.

#1.  "Murder Was the Case" MTV Music Awards when he came out of the coffin
#2.  "Gin and Juice" American Music Awards
#3.  Landing #1 first week with Doggystyle
#4.  Release of "2 of Americaz Most Wanted" music video
#5.  Being found Not Guilty
#6.  Coachella with 2pac Hologram
#7.  Up In Smoke Concert Video Show

... #10.  Christmas Special Superbowl Halftime Show

I know you all disagree but this is the type of show that people who have never really known or liked Snoop since the early 90's, people like my own mother, white women in the Midwest suburbs over 70 years old and little kids like 7 years old will now become fans of Snoop for the first time in 2025.  You all really don't realize how big this is.

I agree with you...I loved the performance...as for the game not so much...in fact all 3 NFL games were bad

The Knicks comeback win over the Cavs however 8)

there was a thread on the coli breakin down how corny the lyrics were, it became a running joke

some that stood out:

It's the D-R-E the spectacular
In a party I go for your neck, so call me "Blacula"

niggas run up and try to kill at will
But get popped like a pimple, so call me Clearasil

When I rock the spot with the flavor I got
I get plenty of ass, so call me an ass-tronaut

Your rhyme sounds like you bought 'em at Stop 'n Go
Dre came to wax you so, just call me Mop and Glo

LOL

personally, i never had a problem with the lyrics... but i think calling them "next level" is a bit of a stretch, to say the least... it was the production that made the song, first second and third.

I thought the lyrics were pretty cringe myself when I really sat down and read them lol...but I never noticed them all the years I listened to the track because Dre delivered them so confidently

that and the beat makes it a 10/10 track

it could be a mastering issue

quik has no say on how others have their work mastered

different producers have their songs mixed differently depending on how the mastering engineer approaches it

quik might be mixing things thinner in order for a good mastering engineer to have more room to play with on the low end

but when a bad mastering engineer gets a hold of that mix, he may just be amplifying the thin sounds as opposed to balancing everything out, like a good mastering engineer does

yeah man.. doesn't it seem strange?  Like when No Limit started selling platinum you would buy one of those albums and they had not even spent the money to have it properly mastered.

Another example just for you West Coast headz is Xzibit At the Speed of Light.  I know it wasn't a big budget album but neither was 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz but the difference in Mastering is really visible if you compare those two.

can't hate on this

glad he doin his thang

ya.. it's better than what most sons of our favorite artists are doing... Daz son in jail serving life on murder, and Quik's son might be in the same situation.  Also, it's good that someone is keeping Nate's name and legacy alive.

Sccit, did you think of linking up with him for Miamonides?  He could spit some Nate Dogg shit on your album and it would sound like Nate

Another reason for me to hate the Coli

Like many others have mentioned, the sound is very crisp but just to 'bright',
There is no warmth and lacking a base line - the same applies to Missionary (I personally love Missionary album).
2001 was the reference how you can have a clean but warn sound with incredible clarity.
The problem is Dre's rapping style. I'm not a huge fan of the cadence he uses with the latest ghostwriters (he did sound better on Missionary though).
Also everything sound too clinical, like he concentrated on mastering the technical side, but forgot to have a good time in the studio vibing. Everything sounds too mechanical and contrived (again the same downside of Missionary).

I think Dre is overthinking things.
