Here in Belgium they passed a smoking ban in January: all restaurants which have an income higher than a certain amount are not allowed to have smoking zones in their diner anymore. Pretty stupid law since quite a lot of restaurants are under than amount and thus people can still smoke there.

They should ban smoking from ALL restaurants. And I presume that every smoker understands why non-smokers hate it when someone lights one up while other people are still eating.
But, I do understand that smokers don't like the idea of a ban in pubs/bars. The government indeed tells you what to do. I don't have a problem with it myself though going into a bar where smoking is prohibited since I don't smoke myself.

There has been a smoking ban in New Zealand for over a year now, I'm not quite sure. Alot of people were against it at first, but since then, people got used to the idea. The casino is never full, and half the clubbers will be out in the cold puffing away. At my old job, smokers had to go across the road, but because my boss was a smoker herself, she allowed them to enjoy their ciggys at the regular spot, the front entrance, lol.

It's been like that in Cali...some states still allow it though. I agree, it's stupid to keep smoking out of clubs and bars (pubs)...But restaurants, and shit like that, I understand...you pretty much can't smoke anywhere indoors nowadays. They even banned smoking on the beach a few years back...

No...You can't smoke in any of those.

Actually, the law is that, you must have less than 7 employees, and they all have to have a stake in ownership. If the place fits all those requirements, you make smoke in the place.

In California THANK GOD, we can still smoke in Indian casinos as an earlier posted stated.

Here in Los Feliz, there used to be a place called Pros, a billiard place. You could smoke in there (and this  is way after the ban was in effect) and that law was the precise reason.

Most clubs and bars I go to have an outdoor smoking lounge anyway. The bars aren't stupid. However, that's here in California, the weather is awesome most of the time.

I've been to England, and man, when it get's cold, it would be pretty rough trying to smoke without getting frostbite.

Went to a hip hop rave back in '99 (back when they still had hip hop raves out in San Bernadino here in Cali) It was a huge complex, and the entrance was in the trance part of the club; MAN!  the stench of 200 kids dancing in hot sweaty, stuffy wherehouse/club thingy was AWFUL! The whole place reeked of a giant onion sandwich.

Thank God the hip hop part was outside where there was major weed and nicotine being smoked.

That was the first and only time in my life when a smell actually knocked me back.

i totaly agree with restaurants, places of work etc etcas its too confined and smells

clubs / pubs i think is a bad idea, you arent gonna go make your way thru a crowd after waiting in line getting a drink then do it all again at least twice just to go out for one smoke
