Ice Cube...you can argue that Ice Cube wouldn't have been shit without Eazy E, but you can also argue that Eazy and N.W.A. wouldn't have been shit without Cube. Who wrote Boyz in da Hood? Who wrote all of Eazy E's raps? Who had the most influence on Straight Outta Compton? And this isn't even taking into account his amazing solo career.
Straight Outta Compton may have had more impact, but Niggaz4life proved that NWA could do well without Cube

Production-wise yes....lyric-wise no. Dre's beats saved that album.
just because the style switched a bit, doesn't mean that the lyrics fell short.
it's just a matter of preference
