Eazy was the man as far as business goes but to compare them as artists and their influence when it came to that is no contest. We can never knock Eazy for what he brought to the table but you'd be just as foolish to downplay the role of Cube and Dre. Without "Straight Outta Compton", Ruthless would never have been on the map like it was and Cube was the voice of that record, even when other people were rapping on it. And Dre was the sound. Everyone seems to think Dre was still on Wreckin' Cru type gimmicks when Eazy got in the picture and convinced them all to be a gangsta rap group. "Boyz N The Hood" was already ready to go before Eazy ever stepped in the booth. If that rapper they booked for that studio time had showed, we might not even know Eazy as anything but a behind-the-scenes genius.

Eh they both had a huge influence.Lets just look at what they both did though.

Eazy E - Started up Ruthless Records, The label that helpped pioneer gangsta rap, a Early ruff construct of the G-Funk sound (later to be fully realized via dre on death row, Deep Cover, Not The Chronic), His Solo album and his artist have all helpped gangsta rap become popular. He founded Bone thugs and would of released the first double Album of new material before 2pac (But even before them, another rapper had released a double album, but it wasn't totally new material it was mostly remixes/b-sides and stuff). All of his albums were always gangsta rap and rarely dissolved into serious topics. His albums presented a Sadistic, very funny and unique brand of Gangsta Rap on all albums. What he did for West Coast Rap and Gangsta Rap is really what put compton on the map.

Ice Cube - Another Legend, Started up in the group C.I.A. (early rip off of Beastie boys, via sound and style), After CIA he hooked up with Eazy E and they performed "Boyz In the Hood". Ice Cube wrote over half of Straight Outta Compton (with contributions by MC Ren, and DOC). He felt he wasn't getting paid for his work, which prompted him to leave. Now what he did with N.W.A was legendary, and was really 1 of the main reasons teh album did so well (do 2 the lyrical content), but his Solo Carrier is were he really left his mark.Amerkkka's Most Wanted (As well as all of his first 3 albums) were super-charged albums full of raw hatred for the system, Rarely pandering into the Gangsta Persona (only on a few tracks in his earlier work) and instead took a Truthful approach to problems affecting the poor.

Death Certificate featured a much more focus were him pandering to gangsta rap was literally absent and instead his stories of the problems neither encouraged nor denounced street life. His Hatred for sell outs, politicians and a realistic view of how problems in the streets persisted. Death Certificate warrant so much controversy for its truthful lyrics it his image was banned in Organ. This and Amerikkka's Most Wanted were seen as Precursors to the riots, and Ice Cube (when the riots hit, along with other rappers) became Prophets and the only truthful entity of why the riots happened.

The Predator was were Ice Cube truly tears down the system. While all 3 albums were seen as a blue-print for a average mindstate for a guy who's systematic abuse by institutionalized racism, political failure to help and general poverty induced problems, The Predator was seen as a Strike back album. Made after the riots, Ice Cube lays his final and most enticing album ever. The album was more power to the people then his 2 previous efforts and was his last great. In he referenced how America expects african Americans to Forget about Slavery, and continues on what can only be described as truthful tirade on the problems of being black in america.

Then came Lethal Injection, simply a west Coast masterpiece. Sadly compared to his previous efforts its just general West Coast Sound and Flavor (induced via The Chronic sounds/content). As such it didn't warrant a "great" album, just a good classic piece of west coast.

Ice Cube and Eazy did a lot, IMO though Eazy E made Gangsta Rap Music, but Ice Cube tore up the mother fuckin establishment. The controversy and him constantly (at the time) talking about topics, that middle america would rather forget is why IMO he had a bigger impact. Both legends, both made their own impact. but Ice Cube wins cause he did more to impact and force amerikkka 2 confront its problems.

Its hard to compare because Eazy died so young and early into his career.  He did a lot considering he was in the game so short.  I believe without Eazy the paths of Cube, Ren, Dre and Yella would have been much different.  Cube was in architect school and there was a good chance he would have went that way if Boyz N The Hood didn't become as successful as it did.  Ren was close to joining the military.  Dre was in and out of jail and he mighta still stuck around with Lonzo.  I think outta all of them perhaps Dre woulda still done something in rap but I think he woulda went the r&b route.  But definitely without Eazy things woulda took a different twist.
